This was exactly what we had expected, given the very positives of the property, and of Shane, that we had read. The location is in the heart of the west end, just above a very good Italian restaurant (Mona Lisa), and across the road from one of the best Irish music pubs in Galway (the Crane Bar). The apartment itself, being at the back of the building, was very quiet, looking out over the back-yard wildernesses of the area. It's on the first floor, with an easy flight of stairs. It's very well equipped, with a great shower (not always a given in Irish properties). Parking in the immediate vicinity is not free (limited to 2 hours, at 2 euro per hour) during daytime, but free from 6.30 pm to 8.30 am. However, there is plenty of free street parking with 5 minutes walk. (We parked opposite Ward's Hotel in Lower Salthill Road most days, without a problem). Shane was a fantastic host, and responded to all emails, SMS, etc prior to our arrival, and was on hand to greet us, and at the end of our stay.
I have given it 4/5 because for us, the only drawback was the bed, which is a double bed, and a bit too firm, whereas we are used to larger more forgiving beds. (In spite of this, we would return to this property if the opportunity arises in the future).
Thank you Shane
