Tucked into 84 private acres of rolling pasture, hardwood forest, and bold creeks, our restored Farmhouse Cabin offers a timeless mountain escape in Ashe County, North Carolina. We recently became the stewards of this haven and now share the land with the handcrafted Treehouse Cabin (VRBO #1317532) perched on a distant ridge. Reserve one or both cabins for two very different perspectives on the same magical property.
The farmhouse pairs early-1900s charm with modern ease. Tongue-and-groove walls, wide-plank ceilings, and a crackling wood stove set a nostalgic mood, while reliable Wi-Fi, Roku-TV, and a fully equipped kitchen keep things effortless. Three beds—one king, one full, one twin—sleep five comfortably. Need extra space? Just steps away, a 9 × 9 ft “Smokehouse” tiny house—once the farm’s curing shed—adds a creek-side bedroom for two (small nightly fee). Hotel-quality linens, soft throws, and sunrise light through sash windows make every room feel like home.
Life on the farm is relaxed and hands-on. Stroll the pasture to greet the chickens, then collect fresh eggs each morning. Wander miles of marked trails through meadows and along the creek, sway in a hammock beneath towering poplars, or challenge friends on the bocce court. Kids love the game shack, enclosed sandbox, and creek-side movie projector for evening films.
Do not miss the 13-acre summit meadow at the very top of the property. A short hike—or easy drive—leads to a fire-pit perch with sweeping views of Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Rogers, and rolling waves of Blue Ridge peaks. Linger at sunset, then wrap up in the binoculars-and-blankets stash for unforgettable stargazing.
A centerpiece of the farm is our stunning barn, rebuilt in 2013 after a tragic fire. Inside, Steve Willingham’s large-scale mountain artwork fills a light-filled studio, and the space doubles as a venue for weddings, reunions, and celebrations. Rates scale to guest count, and a convenient restroom was added in 2021.
Adventure waits beyond the gate: paddle or tube the New River two minutes away; cast a line at Ashe County Wildlife Club lake in five; ride gentle mounts with Hidden Pastures in ten; tee off at Mountain Aire or Jefferson Landing within fifteen; or explore West Jefferson’s art galleries, craft breweries, and farmers market—also fifteen minutes from the farm. In winter, sled the farm’s hills after a snowfall or reach ski slopes in about ninety minutes. Bring front- or four-wheel drive when snow is forecast; low-clearance cars may bump the erosion water-bars.
The farmhouse welcomes up to two well-behaved dogs (small nightly fee); please cover furniture with the provided throws if your pup loves the sofa.
We live on the property and greet every guest with fresh flowers, trail maps, and insider tips for the best eateries, activities, and hikes. Whether you are sipping coffee on the porch, roasting marshmallows under the Milky Way, admiring art in the barn, or dozing to the crackle of the wood stove, Little Peak Creek Farmhouse promises mountain memories that linger long after you leave. Reserve your stay and discover why guests call it their home away from home.
