I'm a professional artist and childrens book illustrator who has run an art studio in Austin for 15 years. My partner Elise is a violinist for the Austin Symphony, so the house is very creative and artistic.
Tony purchased this House in 2000
Why Tony chose Skyview
Beautiful home in a safe, friendly neighborhood, close to downtown yet far enough away to be quiet and not have some of the other downtown issues. We strive to do everything in our power to make sure you have a wonderful experience, whatever that may be for you.
What makes this House unique
The creative flourishes are the houses main attraction. Austin is known for being quirky, creative and artistic. This home truly gives you that experience. Every room is filled with adventure and surprises.

Happy Haven in Austin
We loved our stay at Tony's place. Tony was extremely hospitable and took time to show us around his house to make sure we had everything we needed. As a group of 10, we were all happy with our stay. The home is a perfect example of all that is good about Austin- quirky, unique, and comfortable. We loved the patio, the koi pond, and of course, Shelley was a the icing on the cake. Thank you Tony, for a great and memorable weekend.
We enjoyed our stay. Tony was very hospitable and the house was perfect for what we needed. It rained during our stay but we were able to still enjoy our stay. Great location to Rainey street too!
Quirky and fun
Very hospitable host. Great tortoise. Outdoor feast on Thanksgiving in the wonderful garden. Seems like the ideal party house. We found the location very convenient. Lots of flavor!
Beds a little soft.
Authentic Austin Experience
My group of college students was delighted with this alternative to staying at a hotel for a leadership conference at UT. The house is definitely interesting in a "Keep Austin Weird" kind of way. Beautiful artwork by the owner, musical instruments you can play, a lovely Japanese-themed backyard, a 100-lb tortoise, and all kinds of fun and creepy Halloween stuff (most of it apparently there year-round). The location was fine for a quick trip to UT's campus or downtown Austin. Tony was very nice and welcoming and gave us an interesting tour of the house and yard, along with his varied works of art. The house was fairly clean and pretty much as expected from the pictures and information online. The bathroom arrangement might not work well for everyone, but we managed fine. One small bathroom only opens to the backyard (good for anyone staying in the nice "dollhouse" room in the backyard, but not easily usable for those in the house. The restroom inside the house connects to a back room in a way that cuts that room off from the rest of the house (although there is an exit to the backyard from that room). That means someone blocked in that room while someone is in the bathroom would have to go outside and come back in through another backdoor that goes through another bedroom. As long as you don't mind that little privacy/access issue with the layout, it works okay. Overall, we were comfortable and enjoyed our visit. And Tony was readily accessible if we had faced any problems. I know those in our group would love to return if they had the chance.
Some Corrections: The Halloween Haunted House is NOT here year round, the Tea-House rm. in the Asian Garden is not a 'Doll House', but a Tea-House in the tradition of those small houses in Japan, but fully insulated, wifi, TV,, table/chair, and Teas. And the outside bathroom is outside the door and about 10 ft. away from two of the house rms, not necessarily 'not easily usable', though I can see it being if it's too difficult for someone who has difficulty walking out a door and then 10 more ft. And if you stay in the private 'Koi Rm' which is attached to the house from a hallway leading through the bathroom, you may have to walk out the back and back in through another room or the front of the house. Not a big deal for most people. This is an eclectic, vibrant house, each room has many things to catch your interest and expand on them-it's not meant for the most conservative in mind or experience. But if you like a unique experience, come stay with us, if not, there are plenty of bland hotels to choose from.
As advertised and Tony is a great and laid back host, he even left out a bunch of snacks and was very responsive with some questions about Austin proper.
Owner keeps his house clean and it was a great experience.
The entire experience was awesome. We had a bachelor party in town and he did a great job of welcoming us and giving us a sweet tour of the house. Highly recommend staying at this house!
