About the Property

A spacious private room with en-suite accomodations.

Don't be put off if you see dates on the calendar blocked off. We have 5 rooms and that reservation represents only a single room, so chances are we have others available. However, it does pose a problem as Home Away won't let you book on top of another reservation. If that happens just give us a call and we'll work with you to resolve it. 786-385-8442 or 207-844-0047

At our Inn we offer our guests spacious private rooms with en-suite accommodations including tub and shower above our restaurant. All rooms accommodate 2 people per night with the exception of a room with 2 double beds where additional fees applied for those over 13. All rooms have Sat TV, micro, coffee maker, reefer, hair dryer, free wi-fi, and as a option a small kitchenette for an additional fee only in the double room.

This listing represents one of the four King rooms accommodating 2 guests available at the Inn. If this room does not meet your needs, please contact us for the availability of the room with 2 double beds if available. Each separate and private entry room has a view of the harbor with many working boats and yachts in the nearby marina, or on mooring balls. Across the harbor is Acadia National Park with mountain rising out of the forest.

We want to provide our guests with privacy and a serene setting to enjoy our little slice of Maine. You will also find a full and complete restaurant, with a full service bar below your room serving a seafood focused Down East Maine cuisine with both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting).

The coast is what draws visitors to our part of 'Down East' Maine. The seafood is outstanding as are the locals who will kindly share with you any information you'd like to know. Close by are water activities, from deep sea fishing to digging for clams on the beach and don't forget to sample our Maine lobsters while you're here. We also have a ferry that regularly departs for the Cranberry Isles, which has it's own unique flavor for day trips. Southwest Harbor sits between the famous towns of Bar Harbor and Camden and is an easy and scenic drive along the coast. The famous Acadia National Park is also located on our Island with various wildlife, hiking trails, mountaineering and our famous Cadillac Mountain for expansive views of the main coast, eastward to the Atlantic and west towards the vast forests of Maine. Just outside our door is bus service that takes you around Mt. Desert Island including stops in Bar Harbor and Acadia national park during the summer months only.

Owner info

Year Purchased: 2014

About the owner: My lovely young bride Joyce and I have been retired since 2005 and married since1970. For our retirement we purchased a cruising catamaran and left San Diego in 2006 and spent the following 8 years cruising in the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, the countries of Central America, then through the canal and now we have our boat in Key West Florida. It was time for us to transition back to land, but we wanted to transition slowly, which is why we bought The Dockside Inn. We're in Maine for most of the year, then head back to Key West for a bit to continue to enjoy our cruising itinerary on the East Coast, the Bahamas and hopefully Cuba in the future..

Why the Owner Chose Southwest Harbor, ME, USA:
When we were considering the purchase of a property to take that half step towards moving back ashore, we wanted it to be seasonally opposite to where our boat is slipped. So being in the Southernmost US city drew our focus to properties on the East Coast, but a goodly ways North. We settled on Maine for a few reasons...first we wanted a lot of nature, second we still wanted to be close to the sea, third... we wanted a state that wasn't crowded, fourth... we love sea food and wanted to sample the cold water variety, fifth... we wanted to experience the change of seasons and the beauty of the forests in autumn. Lastly, we have enjoyed meeting countless hundred of various people from all walks of life and nationalities and this looked like a good way to meet many more...on dry land.

The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
The benefits of our Inn is the close proximity to natures beauty...the sea, our forests, lakes, rivers, streams and Acadia National Park. We offer comfortable clean rooms, on the water with an outstanding view of the harbor and Acadia National Park at less than the going rate. We think you will find it an enjoyable experience for a stay of a long weekend, week, month or season.
