With two bedrooms on the ground floor and a master bedroom suite on the second floor Seashore Retreat is perfect for a family or for couples traveling together to enjoy.

Located on a quiet one-way street within walking distance of the beach and downtown Pacific Grove’s restaurants, shops and movie theater, the 3-bedroom, 3-bath house is also just a 5-minute car ride away from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and historic Cannery Row, about 8 minutes to downtown Monterey, and 15 to 20 minutes by car to Carmel and Pebble Beach.

The 2,100-square-foot Craftsman-style house has a tiled entryway opening into a great room that includes a living room, dining room and kitchen, with bedrooms on either side. The living room promises cozy evenings curled up on the beige sectional sofa and chaise in front of the electric fireplace and 38-inch flat screen HDTV.

Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complementary wine and cheese, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear.

Bar stools line one side of the granite countertop in the kitchen, convenient for breakfast, lunch or snacks, and the wooden dining room table seats six.

The kitchen, with new stainless steel appliances and stone tile back splash, has a gas range and oven as well as both microwave and convection ovens, making family meals a snap. An adjacent laundry room includes a washer and dryer.

A staircase leads to the second floor suite, where a spacious master bedroom has its own balcony with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee or a late night glass of wine while looking out at Monterey Bay. A king-sized brass bed with a blue and white bedspread, 38-inch flat screen HDTV and two adjacent upholstered chairs highlight the bedroom.

A huge walk-in closet on the second floor has room for golf bags or other gear, and the bathroom includes a luxurious tub with Jacuzzi whirlpool jets and separate custom tiled shower with sunburst shower head. Two sinks with brushed nickel hardware are surrounded by a granite counter top.

The first bedroom on the ground floor, highlighted with red, white and blue accents, has a queen bed and 28-inch flat screen HDTV. An adjoining bathroom with a shower tub combo is adorned with custom tile in shades of white and brown, and brushed nickel fixtures and a granite counter top surround the sink. Another door makes this bathroom accessible from the living room.

In the second ground floor bedroom, also with adjoining bathroom with shower, two single beds that can be made up as a king with foam topper and a queen futon that sleeps 1-2 children offer flexible sleeping options.

Doors from the second bedroom and the living room lead out onto a large outdoor deck, fenced for privacy and perfect for barbecuing on the gas grill, letting the kids play, or enjoying a cool drink. A unique feature is a patio table that is set into a large oak tree.

Cars can be parked in a driveway behind the house as well as a one-car garage, and parking is also available on the street.

Three Cs...comfy, clean, convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at Seashore Retreat. First, the communication with Sanctuary Vacation Rentals was stellar! Upon arrival, we found some yummy snacks, wine, and a beautiful home. This immaculate property has a great floor plan for multiple guests. The beds and furniture are so comfortable! We especially enjoyed hanging out on the big sofa next to a warm fire. The kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to make meals. Finally, the home is very conveniently located. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful and Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Seashore Retreat provided a lovely escape for my husband and me and for our daughter and her family. The house is beautiful, very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It has apparently been remodeled for a more modern look and for additional convenience. It was just the right size for five people (including our 3 year old granddaughter) and could accommodate up to seven.

My daughter and her husband stayed in the Master Suite and loved it. The other two bedrooms were also very nice and one of them opened onto a nice deck with a tree growing in the middle of it. The kitchen was well-stocked and offered every convenience, and the dining room and living room were very attractive and certainly large enough for our comfort. We loved the location of the house and found good local restaurants and easy access to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We certainly enjoyed our stay there and felt Sanctuary Forest provided excellent customer service. We definitely recommend this property.

Pacific Grove is home of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the main entrance to 17-Mile Drive. Within this charming city, known for its old-fashioned, friendly downtown and colorful historic Victorian homes, are spectacular vistas and recreational opportunities. Surfing is ideal at Asilomar State Beach. Kayaking and scuba diving allow you to visit with playful otters. Tide pooling for the nature enthusiast is available at several beaches. A walk or bike ride along the shoreline recreation trail offers breathtaking views of paradise.

Visit the Museum of Natural History, Point Pinos Light-house, tour Asilomar State Park, or enjoy the Sunset anywhere between Lovers Point Park and Asilomar Beach. Pacific Grove is known as Butterfly Town U.S.A. since every October the Monarchs migrate to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary where they winter until February. Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course is the top rated municipal golf in the state with over 70,000 rounds played annually. It is referred to as poor man's Pebble Beach due to its proximity and resemblance of Pebble Beach courses.

Enjoy a walking tour of downtown Pacific Grove. The town had its beginning in 1875 as a summer Methodist camp where several hundreds assembled to worship amidst rough tents. Tour brochures are available at the Chamber.

Pacific Grove's Past:

The town had its beginning in 1875 as a summer Methodist camp, where several hundred people assembled to worship amidst rough tents. In time, the fragrant pines and fresh sea air brought others to the Pacific Grove Retreat to rest and meditate. The first camp meeting of the Pacific Coast branch of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle was held here in June 1879. Fashioned after the Methodist Sunday school teachers' training camp established in 1874 at Lake Chautauqua, N.Y., this location became part of a nation-wide educational/cultural network.

In November 1879, after the summer campers returned home, Robert Louis Stevenson wandered into the deserted campgrounds: I have never been in any place so dreamlike. Indeed, it was not so much like a deserted town as like a scene upon the stage by daylight, and with no one on the boards -- from 'The Old Pacific Capitol'

By 1889, the resort was incorporated, becoming the City of Pacific Grove. The last P.G. Chautauqua was held in August 1926.

Monterey Peninsula info:

The Monterey Peninsula is unique in its combination of breathtaking natural resources and a multiplicity of cultural and entertainment possibilities. You can find something for every possible taste. For nature lovers, there is the diversity of mountain and sea, for picnicking, surfing, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, beachcombing, bird-watching, kayaking, scuba diving, tidepooling, biking and more. If you want a man-made excitement, we have art galleries galore, excellent fine-art museums, local theater, outstanding restaurants, boutiques, a natural history and a children's museum, a world-class aquarium, and that's just for starters. History buffs will have a field day exploring the adobes of Monterey. There's so much to do that you cannot possibly do it all in one visit, which means you will have to come back!
