Mechum Hill Cottage: Central to Crozet & Cville

Mechum Hill Guest Cottage is tucked away in the outskirts of Charlottesville. This private, studio-style guest house is located on over 30 acres of land to explore. The peaceful location will allow guests to enjoy their quiet time, but also access the city of Crozet and Charlottesville by a short drive (8 minutes to Downtown Crozet and Pro Re Nata Brewery). Nelson 151 is also only a short drive away!

Below is a breakdown of the studio cottage and it's amenities:

DINING: Small dining table for 2 with a mini fridge, Keurig, mugs, wine glasses and wine opener. Coffee, tea, creamer and sugar provided.

LIVING: sleeper sofa (with capability to sleep 2 additional guests), smart TV, books

BEDROOM: king bed, wall sconces for additional light, closet with hangers

BATHROOM: Double sink vanity, toilet, 9 foot tiled shower with rain-head shower (small step to enter), towels and toiletries provided

OUTDOOR: enjoy 30+ acres, including a private pond. Feel free to bring your fishing gear!

Please note that this guest cottage is adjacent to the main house, which is occupied full-time by the owners. The owners do have a dog that you may see on the property as well, so please note that this property is NOT pet friendly. The owners do own Pro Re Nata Brewery and you may find beverages in the mini fridge upon arrival. If this is not your preference, please let us know.

Beautiful, big space surrounded by farm land at the end of a secluded but easily reached road, and only 25 minutes from UVa. I stayed there for a Virginia Cavaliers and got back from the stadium in less than 30 minutes. The bed is also very comfortable, and the bathroom and living room is big.

Nice, secluded, quiet property. Very comfortable, cozy guest cottage adjacent to the owners' home. Great location from which to explore area wineries, Charlottesville, and the Shenandoah.

Nice and Clean Little Getaway

The guest cottage was perfect for us. Well appointed and exceptionally clean and comfortable with big windows. The deck attached to the main house offers a peaceful view of the hillside. Very happy to have stayed here. Thanks!

Generally good. Very clean, nicely appointed. The owner was very accommodating. Lovely location. The king bed needs to be relocated so that the second person doesn’t have to crawl across the first to get in & out of bed. Bedside tables on both sides would be helpful - need a place to lay the phone at night. There should be a couple of hooks in the bathroom for wet towels or clothes when showering. A second end table on the couch would be a plus. A microwave would be handy for reheating things.Cheers!

It's Lovely!

This place is beautiful, inside and out. I loved waking up in the morning and looking out the window to see so much of nature. The inside was cozy and comfortable.

Off the beaten path

The property was clean and fresh. The inside appeared newly decorated, designed to please the eyes. The location is at the end of a mostly gravel drive, a challenge to negotiate in the dark. Bring a flashlight, if arriving after nightfall, to find the entrance. We were unable to retrieve the key from the lock box. The supplied code appeared to work but the box would not open. (Again in the dark) Thankfully, we found the property was unlocked and remained so through our three night stay. The bed is comfortable. With one side nearly against a wall, it was another challenge to negotiate. The bathroom is spacious and bright. It could have benefited with a couple of wall hooks or a rack to hang damp towels on. The heat/ac units were a puzzle to operate. The control unit is a handheld gizmo, marked (by the host) for 'h'eat & 'c'old but the icons that show up appear to be circles. After a bit of play with it we were able to get the desired results by standing in front of one unit or the other (living room or bathroom), pointing the control at the main unit and fiddling the mode & temp buttons. There is a set of four light controls inside the door for the property. The two for the inside lights were fine. One outside control would cause a set of outside lights to flick on then off. Not sure what that was about.
