‘The Olive Tree’ – Lovingly restored farmhouse with lush garden

Original vaulted ceilings and a lush green garden at the foot of the big ancient olive tree the house was named after – that is what you can expect in this vacation home of character whose oldest part dates back almost 300 years. While ensuring that you will find all mod cons for your holidays, the renovation has taken care to preserve the special character and charm of the property.
Lying almost hidden behind the olive tree, palms and hibiscus, the house offers on the ground floor a cosy living room with seating area and television, a full equipped kitchen with a spacious dining area, a double bedroom and a large bathroom. Via the traditional eternal staircase next to the main door, you enter the top floor with two more double bedrooms with a balcony and roof terrace, and a shower room. The house offers sleeping for 6 adults, as well as a cot and a fold-away bed. It is in a central location in a quiet side street 5 minutes on foot from the main village square.

Old small town, nice and quiet place

A peaceful hideaway

Very close to the centre of Xaghra but very peaceful and quiet. The house has everything needed for a comfortable holiday. It's close to everything. I highly recommend staying here.

Olive Tree - Fantastic!

The Olive Tree is such a nice property, we were really pleased with the whole place. It has all the mod cons needed for a holiday, and more! The location is absolutely perfect and easy to find, with parking outside if you have a car. We have already said to ourselves that we are going to stay here for our next Gozo holiday!

The Olive Tree is a gorgeous building, set back from the street but only about three minutes walk away from a charming town square full of cafes and restaurants. Gozo is probably not the place to go if you're looking for an exciting nightlife, but if you want somewhere beautiful and friendly then it's to be much recommended. "The Olive Tree" is well equipped, a decent kitchen, air conditioning in the bedrooms - and for those of you with kids the wifi works well! We had had a minor concern from the photographs of the building on this website that a small part of the house looked a bit like it was built from breezeblocks - but it's just some of the upper parts of the house are made from much newer limestone blocks than the older parts of the house and the whole place has loads of character. Perhaps avoid if you have a phobia of reptiles - at the time we stayed (early July) the lizards in the garden were very active. But they're tiny, they don't cause any problems, and if you like wildlife it's wonderful - for us it simply added to the enjoyment. We hired a car from Victoria Garage, as recommended by the owner. They are a small, friendly family business and again I would recommend using them.

Schon vom ersten Moment an haben wir uns in das Haus "verliebt", es ist einfach traumhaft schön und idyllisch. Und dabei aber doch zentral nur sehr wenige Gehminuten von der Ortsmitte entfernt. Auch der Kontakt mit der Vermieterin war reibungslos und sehr sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen und kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Maison paisible pour un séjour reposant

Si vous cherchez un dépaysement, cette ancienne maison authentique maltaise de 2 étages est faite pour vous. Cuisine (bien équipée d’ailleurs ) , salle à manger et salon sont au rez de chaussée ( cet étage est non climatisé) et les chambres (climatisées) sont au 1er étage en empruntant l’escalier extérieur. Le jardin est charmant et bien entretenu. La nuit est bien calme et les volets battants en bois garantissent un bon niveau d’occultation, ce qui garantit une qualité de sommeil optimale pour toute la famille malgré le changement de climat et de rythme. Gozo n’étant pas étendu, le déplacement aux 4 coins de l’île est rapide si on est véhiculé. Nous séjour à Maison Olivier est fort apprécié et nous la recommandons!

Sehr liebevoll eingerichtete und gepflegte Ferienwohnung, inmitten von Xaghra. Mit dem Bus (322), sehr gut erreichbar, auch mit Kindern und Gepäck. Diese Wohnung ist besonders gut für Familien geeignet, da 3 Schlafzimmer und 6 große Betten vorhanden sind. Selbst eine Waschmaschine und Gesellschaftsspiele sind vorhanden und genügend Handtücher. Alles Prima, wir würden diese Wohnung gerne noch einmal buchen und empfehlen sie gerne weiter!

Sehr schönes altes landestypisches Ferienhaus

Zu kurz! Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Es fehlte uns an nichts. Die Ausstattung ist vollständig aber teilweise auch schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Das Frühstücken und die Abende unter dem alten Olivenbaum in dem schönen Garten empfanden wir als sehr angenehm. Selbstverpflegung ist gar kein Problem, aber am Kirchplatz gibt es genügend Restaurants um abwechslungsreich zu essen. Sehr empfehlenswert!!!

Traumhafter Urlaub

Hallo zusammen, Wir haben diese zehn Tage sehr genossen. Für uns war es ein unvergesslicher Urlaub, den wir in vollen Zügen genossen haben. Das Haus ist schlicht eingerichtet, es ist aber alles da was man braucht. Der Garten ein Traum mit einem gemütlichen Platz unter einem alten Baum. Einkaufen ist auch sehr einfach, man hat mehrere kleine Shops die man in maximal zehn Minuten zu Fuß erreicht. Zwei Metzger die sehr zu empfehlen sind gibt es auch. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten im Ort sowie in der Nähe erreicht man einfach und schnell mit dem Bus, den Strand Ramla Bay ebenfalls.Da in Malta/ Gozo Linksverkehr ist, hatten wir kein Auto. Und wenn etwas weiter weg oder nicht optimal zu erreichen ist empfehlenswert ist die Bolt App. Taxi fahren einfach und schnell. Bis auf ein paar Kleinigkeiten war alles perfekt, gerne wieder. Excellent séjour à dar iz zebbuga

Comme l'été passé, nous avons passé deux belles semaines à Dar iz zebbuga. Le jardin en fleurs est merveilleux et l'olivier majestueux apporte une ombre bien agréable sur la terrasse où il fait bon prendre les repas, lire et se reposer. La maison est spacieuse. La cuisine est très bien équipée et il est pratique d'y trouver épices, huile, vinaigre, produits vaisselle et lessive, etc. selon un concept intelligent et généreux où chacun remplace un article quand il est épuisé. Les deux chambres à l'étage ont l'AC ce qui est appréciable par grosse chaleur. La literie est ferme ce qui était parfait pour nous. Il y a de très bonnes lampes au-dessus des lits idéales pour lire le soir. Sinon, la maison était parfaitement propre. La maison est calme, proche d'une petite route assez peu fréquentée. La belle place de l'église est à env. 5 mins à pied, avec bars et bons restaurants. Depuis là, il y a des bus pour Victoria, la jolie baie de Ramla, le ferry ou Marsalforn. Dar iz zebbuga est une maison qui a du cachet, qui a préservé authenticité et simplicité tout en ayant le confort nécessaire. Je la recommande sans hésitation.

Farmhouse pleine de charme

Nous avons passé d'excellentes vacances dans cette maison simple mais pleine de charme entourée d'arbres et d'un jardin luxuriant. Nous avons apprécié le calme environnant bien que la maison soit à 5 min à pied de la place de l'église. C'était parfait pour nous qui ne louons pas de voiture et nous déplaçons en bus. La maison comprend tout ce qu'il faut pour cuisiner et c'est un vrai bonheur de prendre les repas sous l'olivier. Certes, le rez est assez sombre mais la partie du haut est lumineuse avec une belle terrasse aussi. Le fait qu'il ne soit pas possible de passer du bas au haut depuis l'intérieur ne nous pas gêné du tout mais cela n'est peut-être pas très pratique avec de jeunes enfants. J'ai apprécié aussi que les matelas soient fermes et de bonne qualité (c'est rare à Gozo). Nous retournerons volontiers dans la belle maison de l'olivier si l'occasion se présente.

Holiday in the Olive Tree Farmhouse in Xaghra

Very good; lovely property. Only problems were exceptionally hot weather for time of year, and lots of jellyfish in the sea at most of the beaches near there…this is a new environmental problem. Lovely village with good facilities.

Paradiesische Unterkunft in einem liebevoll restaurierten Häuschen

Der Kontakt mit Frau Orpin war unkompliziert und sie war sehr hilfsbereit und entgegenkommend, gerade auch bei Sonderanfragen. Wer alte Häuser liebt, die in altem Stil liebevoll restauriert wurden, der fühlt sich hier auf Anhieb wohl. Dazu gibt es einen schönen Garten und verschiedene Sitzmöglichkeiten. Ich habe es besonders genossen an den heißen Tagen in einem kühlen Schlafzimmer schlafen zu können. Alles ist wunderbar geräumig und in der Küche fehlt es an nichts. Vielen Dank, dass ich hier einen erholsamen Urlaub verbringen konnte

Urlaub in strategisch guter Lage

Die Unterkunft lädt zum Wohlfühlen ein. Besonders haben wir den Sitzplatz unter dem Olivenbaum genossen. Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten fußläufig zu erreichen. Sehr netter Kontakt zur Vermieterin. Uns gefiel, dass Artikel ( z. B. Gewürze, ...) zur Verfügung standen, die von jedem genutzt werden konnten. Die Bitte die Produkte bei Verbrauch aufzufüllen, damit sich der nächste freut, hat uns sehr gefallen.

A peaceful stay at The Olive Tree.

I had a wonderful stay at the Olive Tree. It looks exactly like the photos. It had everything I needed with a well equipped kitchen, blankets etc. Xaghra is a quiet village with a lovely square and yet has enough shops to get food and anything else you may need. Many great sites in Gozo. I highly recommend it.
