Very nice place. I would definitely stay again. Only a few cons but nothing that would keep me from staying again. Only 2 wash clothes could use a few more. Stairs to get into house and could be an issue for some people. A musty smell when entering but not in actual living area. Now the good stuff! Very large rooms. Kitchen was very well stocked. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was large and very nice. The 2nd bathroom was a plus. Couch was comfy. Enjoyed the hot tub and deck area. Nice view. Seen a bear on the first morning at the neighbors. Seen another bear a little too close for comfort the next day. He snuck up behind us as we was unloading our car. I got the door shut but not the trunk and he got in it. My husband scared him away but he came back and was in at a safe distance to enjoy watching him. So don't leave car unlocked and watch your surroundings when outside. Loved having all the books to read. Hopefully this place will be available on our next trip. Everyone in the office was so nice too.

Schonblick, our favorite getaway!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed with Mountain Laurel's Schonblick since 2006. Every time we go back, it seems the owners have redecorated, painted, new furniture, new bed, and excellence maintenance! While there are no dramatic views (except for a sliver of downtown Gatlinburg) we love the feeling of isolation and being in the woods even though we know we have neighbors on the drive in. I love parking directly beneath the house, protected from weather as you load and unload. Driveway has a turnaround, so you don't have to back into infinity, or risk crashing down the mountain! We vacation other places over the years, but if we are staying close to home, we always use Mountain Laurel Chalets. They are super friendly and very thoughtful, they knew it was my wife's birthday, and had a delicious birthday cake, yellow with butter whipped frosting! They definitely did not have to do that, but that's the special care you can expect when staying with them!

It's a pretty steep walk up & down the stairs with your luggage here so pack lightly! The place could not have been any nicer; new kitchen, new bathrooms, and everything worked except the recliner. (handle is missing). The view to downtown was still viewable in early spring; might be more tree cover by late summer though. And as always, the Mountain Laurel staff was great.

Anniversary Getaway

We always stayed in the same cabin and this year we decided to stay in a different one. The choice to stay in Schonblick was a GREAT choice.We were very pleased with the cabin and the location. You could see downtown Gatlinburg from the porch and it was beautiful at night looking down at all the lights. We also had visitors of bears every day from big ones to cubs. All in all this was a great choice and will be the cabin for our fall getaway. We are already planning it. The staff has never been anything but GREAT. Going to miss Cheryl when she retires. Thanks Mountain Laurel for being our home away from home. See you soon.

Kitchen is equipped with all the appliances and items you may need for cooking at home. We ended up doing that a lot since the drive up the mountain at night is a little scary at times so we tried to be back before dark but the view being up higher was worth it.

Thanksgiving Getaway

This property is exactly as pictured. It was bright, spacious, with a well appointed kitchen. The views were fantastic! It was a little bit of an adventure to get to, but definitely worth the curves. I would highly recommend for a couples getaway!

It is at the end of the short road, making it even more private! We brought food and drinks so we only had to leave when we wanted to experience hiking the trails or downtown entertainment. The bed was super comfy. The kitchen was great. The bathtub and shower were amazing. We could not have been more pleased!

Amazing Stay- will be back!

We stayed here for a few days for our anniversary. The cabin was secluded, clean, comfy and so nice! We really enjoyed our stay! Perfect for a couples get away! We had some bear visitors a few times! The day we were checking out we were stuck in the cabin due to 2 bears circling our vehicle in the carport for food. Advice: don’t pack up your food first! Haha! Overall great experience! We will be returning next year!!!

The house is big, quiet and spacious.The only thing I didn't like is the management company, enough so that I would not book with them again.They are extremely stingy with everything they provide. For example, there was just enough toilet paper to use and exactly one package of laundry detergent - nothing extra. They said that they would provide more if asked, but do I really want to call the management company for a roll of toilet paper?I also accidentally left two shirts in the property which they, thankfully, found. But it's been a struggle to get them to ship them to me. Any decent place would have stuck them in a padded envelope and mailed them USPS the day I called. But not them, they refuse to pay the postage and as result dropped them off at a UPS store that is supposed to call me for my credit card information. 2-3 weeks later I still don't have my shirts, who knows if I'll ever receive them.There was also an issue with the jacuzzi that wouldn't turn off.It's obviously my fault that I left them there (this has never happened to me before) and I appreciate them finding them, but they seem to care less about their visitors. A personal interaction I had with them wasn't great either.There were also no common condiments in the kitchen, such as Olive Oil, Salt, Pepper and such.

Home Away from Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I go to Gatlinburg 2-3 times per year for my favorite restaurants, relaxation and a chance to do some landscape photography. This is my favorite of all of the chalets that Mountain Laurel offers. Easy access, covered parking, a wonderful view of downtown including Anakeesta, yet still quiet and relaxing while being above it all. The chalet is always squeaky clean, nicely appointed and has every amenity one could want for their Gatlinburg and Smoky Mountain getaway. The staff at Mountain Laurel make it even more special and enjoyable, still. Wonderful people! I always look forward to chatting with Pam and Cheryl in the office while checking in or out. The way they treat me, the value I receive and the first class accommodations always make me look forward to coming back. I can't wait for my Fall trip and hope to stay at Schonblick again!

Only thing I would change is put a full size bed in the loft. Plenty big enough but that is all. I have been coming down here for 30 years so the roads didn’t bother me but they can be a little scary. Would for sure rent this again. View could have been better, needs to cut back a little.

Our overall experience was exceptional. The property was exactly as described. Out of the 8 days we stayed only 1 was without a bear sighting. The property is very active with bears, including a momma with 4 very small Cubs. We would definitely recommend this rental property.

Not what we were expecting...

It was nice to watch the sunrise and sunset on the balcony while my husband and I were there. The hot tub is right outside the bedroom which was also very nice, and it has a nice big soaking tub in the bathroom. But upon checking the bed, we noticed 5 or 6 strands of red hair inside the pillowcase, on the pillow, and under the blanket. There were also hair strands on the toilet seats in both bathrooms. Also, the couch had some crumbs on the seat in the living area. I also noticed some of the cups in the cabinet had caked on stains around the rim, then we find out that the guests are supposed to wash their own dishes. I have no issue with that at all, but it makes me think the dishes are not rewashed after the guests leave, so people just put them back in dirty. And at a time like this I definitely do not agree with that. We stayed with Mt. Laurel for our honeymoon a few years ago and had no issues at all, but after this experience I don’t know if we will be going back.
