Smoky Mountain Memories is the former residence of the founders of Mountain Laurel Chalets, Ralph and Dorothy Egli. The house has been painstakingly transformed into a retreat that honors their continuing legacy and provides the finest in vacation living. As one of the first homes on Ski Mountain, the Egli's were blessed to secure a sizable piece of property that offers a sprawling side yard with fire pit and hot tub, nature trail and cozy woods. The upper level of the lot offers magnificent views of Mountain LeConte from a large party deck with plenty of rocking chairs and a gas grill nearby, plus an occasional bear sighting. Every member of the family will enjoy this vacation estate with a quaint play house and tree fort.
Upon entering, you immediately feel as if you’ve returned home. The entry hall and sitting area set the mood for relaxation and peace. The open, airy kitchen attracts the culinary artists in your group who will love the sub-zero refrigerator, double ovens and warming drawer. The wood-burning fireplace adjacent to the kitchen invites those who desire conversation with the cooks, while not being underfoot. A few more steps takes you into the wood-lined sun room with a wall of windows that frame the beauty of the mountains. Five Bedrooms on the main level offer King sized beds, private baths and a flat screen television. The end bedroom also has one set of twin bunk beds for the little ones. Each King bedroom has a large screen Smart TV where you can access Netflix (with your account) and other on-line services, connected to the homes robust wifi.
The fun starts when you venture downstairs. A theatre room with 80” smart TV and 14 leather recliners takes movie night to a new level--or catch the latest ball game with the whole family. If billiards are your thing, hop on into the game room and rack ‘em up! Don’t worry about missing your favorite show because there is another 50” TV, plus a wood-burning fireplace to boot and foosball. Tired from all that excitement? The downstairs sun room/reading room provides yet another opportunity to sit and relax while watching TV or looking for wildlife outside the picture windows that line the wall. Two more king bedrooms downstairs, each with a private bath and television, make up the seven bedrooms, but there are a bonus set of bunk beds in the large bedroom that bring the total the house can sleep to 20. When you stay at Smoky Mountain Memories or any of our properties during the summer months you will receive a pass to enjoy 2 pools located here on the mountainside.
