Classic Cottage. Great Location in Beach Community. August week just added!

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms. 1 full bathroom, outdoor shower, sleeps 6. Immaculate and updated.

This classic beach cottage had a complete renovation inside and out in 2011. It is located in the most desirable section of Bonnet Shores, and is a 250 yard walk to beautiful Kelly Beach, the private beach for Bonnet Shore residents and renters. This cottage is one of the closest to the beach available as a (rental) property, not on Dunes Road. A very family friendly community with a great mix of full time and seasonal home owners, as well as renters.

The cottage is tastefully decorated and comfortable. Custom pillows, original art, estate sale treasures mixed with new purchases are combined in a casual seaside decor. The cleaning service guarantees its work, you will be welcomed to a beautifully cleaned home. It has hardwood floors throughout (bathroom is tile). Fabulous granite countertops in a stocked kitchen with center island, stainless steel appliances, range with warming drawer, and convection microwave and bead board backsplash. The dining/living area is open concept and the screened in porch provides additional living space. Each of the three bedrooms have a roomy closet and lots of storage space even though the rooms are small. The bunk bed room has custom made bunks that have pullout drawers and a passageway for the kids to play/crawl through. The lower bunk was built to provide headroom for an adult to sit comfortably. The top bunk is fine for children and small adults but headroom is low. (5'7' daughter fits comfortably) The bead board bathroom is updated, and has tub/shower/toilet/vanity. The wrap around front porch, back deck, and screened porch were all added in 2011/2012 and feature quality materials and detail. The outdoor shower is refreshing after a day at the beach, brisk morning walk around the 5K loop or other fun activities in Narragansett. The front and back yard are grass and under the back porch is a small outdoor shaded sitting area. All beach carts, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, toys and wagon are easily accessible for use. Full Size washer/dryer located in basement with a laundry chute. There is also a drying rack and clothesline available for those who wish to be 'greener'. Wifi and cable are included.

Recycling info and containers provided and mandatory in Bonnet Shores.

Kelly Beach : The soft sand at Kelly Beach is groomed regularly, keeping it pristine for it's visitors. A short board walk leads to one of the finest private beaches in New England with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and coastline. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer. There is no public parking at Kelly Beach, although drop off is allowed. This keeps the beach less crowded and available only to Bonnet Shores Residents, Guests, and the Bonnet Shores Beach Club. (We are not members of the Beach Club. The Beach Club is for members who own a beach cabana located at the club and pay yearly dues for amenities including pool, tennis, restaurant & parking. Members come from many areas of RI including families from Bonnet Shores who live too far away to walk to beach.) From this cottage, the walk is easy, 250 yards, and there is a beach cart and wagon for use.

Bonnet Shores District in Narragansett: Bonnet Shores District is one of the best quaint, enchanting beach and boating communites in all of Rhode Island.

Walk, jog, or bike the 5K loop through Bonnet past breathtaking views of the Ocean and Narragansett Bay.

'Little Beach' is where the boat moorings, a small pier, and a sandy/rocky beach are located. 'W' Pond is visible from the kitchen window and porch and has a small dock for fishing or catching blue crabs. Mermaid Rock is located at the North edge of Kelly beach and accessible via a path. Brave swimmers can be seen on the rocks jumping off into the surf. Experience the ambience as you view the sparkling lights of the Jamestown and Newport Bridges across the water in the evenings or look for the beacon of light from the lighthouse. All necessities are located a short drive down 1-A or 1 including supermarket, pharmacy, coffee and breakfast, restaurants, movie theater, DVD rentals, driving range, bike rentals, and seafood market.

Bonnet Shores is ideally situated on the North end of Narragansett.

A short drive South leads to Public Beaches in Narragansett, the landmark Towers, the downtown, and the ferry to Block Island. North along 1A leads to the port of Wickford and the bridges to Jamestown and Newport . URI is 15 minutes away.

Providence and Roger Williams Zoo are 30 minutes.

About Brenda

Brenda and John Reside in CT with our 3 children. We were involved in all decisions in the renovation of this cottage, and continue to update or make changes each year. shower. Found treasures in various locations in New England were included in the renovation and decoration.

More info happily provided on request!

Brenda purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Brenda chose Rhode Island

Being able to walk to a beach was the best feature of this home when we bought it even tho it needed extensive renovation and updating. The area of Bonnet Shores has a great sense of neighborhood, beautiful homes and gardens set out on a penninsula of Narragansett between the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay.

What makes this cottage unique

High quality materials inside and out were used with shore living in mind. The original home didn't have any porches and was a dark brown very dated ranch without any porches. Original cobblestones were found buried in the front along the property line and reused along with stones from a demolished wall. Salvaged bluestone from a seaside home in Branford, CT were relocated and used for the front steps and side walkway. Found treasures from various locations in New England were included in the renovation and decoration. The mud room is the only interior square footage that was added over existing concrete stairs identical to the ones on the opposite side of the house. The baseboard rocks were handpicked from beaches in RI, MA, NH, and ME and installed one by one over several years. All the wall and trim paint were chosen for a specific color with beach themed names.

Amazing Family-friendly beach cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We've been vacationing in Bonnet Shores for 8 years and have stayed at 5 different homes. The Hidden Treasure beach cottage was the best home away from home especially for our family with two small children (ages 1 and 3). For starters, this home is decorated like a real home, not a rental. All the amenities of home are there from the decor to the kitchen utensils. We love how this home is one story with an open concept so the kids could crawl and roam without the fear of stairs. The screened in patio was great for play time and my daughter fell in love with Barbies and Pet Shop Pals thanks to the toys left in the cottage.

There was a clean pack-n-play for our baby and a high chair/booster seat for him, too. The red wagon was awesome for carrying all our beach toys and even a kid to the beach. The house is even close enough that if a kid says "I have to go to the bathroom" the second you step foot on the sand, it's not that big of a deal.

The owners were great to work with and even left us a present upon arrival. We will definitely be back next year.

Thanks so much.

Hidden treasure even to RIers

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful stay in the cottage. It's very cozy and has all the furnishings like home and more. Brenda was so very accommodating and went the extra mile to make sure our stay was comfortable, especially for our small children. The cottage is just up the street from the peaceful beach, which my children loved exploring. The neighbors we encountered were all very friendly as well. Bonnet Shores is a neat hidden neighborhood that I didn't know about and I grew up in Rhode Island.

A true Hidden Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully furnished and well-designed beach cottage within easy walking distance to lovely sandy beach. The kitchen is just terrific, and my family loves the screened-in porch area and neat outdoor shower.

The owners have made sure that the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable and easy stay.

The neighborhood is perfect for walking or bike riding, and there is access to an outcrop of beautiful rocks that are stunning to see -- perfect for exploring and sunset views over the water.

I will definitely stay here again!
