The property was nice although there was construction going on throughout my stay. Also there is not much to do on this part of the island. There are no stores or restaurants and very little to do after scuba diving unless you take a water taxi to other parts of the island. Usually my only choice was to go to bed after 7 pm.

Beautiful place!
The place is a slice of paradise! It is a little far from Utila town like 15-30 mins water taxi depending on the tide but its well worth it, because once you are there you won't want to leave. The view from the dock is beautiful, you can see both sunrise and sunset from there. Anke is super knowledgeable about the island and has awesome tips about stuff to do around the island, I visited in March with my family and Anke was able to find us a captain to go whale shark diving and snorkelling and he was truly the best, so thanks for the recommendation Anke. We had an amazing time, super relaxing, and spent nights gazing at the stars. Just be sure to bring lots of OFF. Overall it was amazing and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Better than described
Sunni and Bob are great hosts. Very friendly and very knowledgeable about Utila, especially under the water! The cottages are very nice for up to 4 people. Amenities cover swimming, snorkeling, kayaking or just chilling. You'll have to kayak (very easy and easy to learn, even for this 65 year-old) to the cays if you want to get very basic needs or basic restaurants. You hire a panga (as low as $10/person one way) if you want to go into Utila Town. The pangas rarely go after dark or in bad weather.
Scuba is the thing in Utila. Most of the dive shops are in Utila Town. I went to Captain Morgan's as advised by Sunni and it was an awesome experience.
Sunni's Cove is a "get away from it all" experience. I suspect that the power will go out from time to time because the WiFi was iffy during a storm. If you want five star accommodations, go to Hawaii, but if you want something more real to life, something you'll never forget nor regret, come here.
Downsides: coffee is mediocre at best.

Our stay at Sunni's Cove
My husband and I had a great time at Sunni's Cove! The cabins are lovely and cozy... it was a good thing, because when we were there it was stormy and rainy every day (at the end of the rainy season). We took walks along the beach and found many amazing shells and coral pieces; we kayaked across the channel to Suc Suc and Jewel Cays, where we had a great lunch and were able to stock up on groceries. We were happy to have a solid internet connection so we could watch some movies in the rainy evenings, and the shower was awesome. We also loved watching the sunsets and the changes in the ocean and the skies. Once you get there, you won't want to leave, it is so peaceful... The caretaker, Anke, went over and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy!

i've been in banking, mortgage loans and trainer of the bank for my early corporate life and then became a nomad gypsy traveller in search of my perfect island and landed in utila on a sailing trip from panama. was almost going to settle in bocas del toro, but i LOVE utila and the far end of the island away from all the car traffic (not just electric gold carts anymore!) in the main town. i started hacking away at the jungle and little by little built my little villas which was for family in the beginning, but family has not quite made it down here yet. i love to do all active sports such as paddling, scuba, snorkeling, biking, jumping out of airplanes, rafting, swimming, kayaking, exploring, spelunking, and basically doing anything outdoorsy and sportsy as you can imagine. Being an underwater photographer and avid diver for over 30 years u believe i have fins and wish i could find a rebreather partner to take really AWESOME PHOTOS UNDERWATER!

I chose this place ON THE WEST END of utila, BECAUSE OF THE SONG BY pet shoppe boys, WEST END GIRLS! Actually , because it was quiet and yet i have the little town of pigeon cay across from me and diamond cay which is uninhabited, and all of the other cays with just one house on each one. This place is very private and yet, the amenities that i need are all a 15 minute kayak paddle across the bay!
この宿泊施設の特徴
One of the very unique bnenfits of being RIGHT here and not like ANY other place is that there is a WHITE sandy beach and NOT coral where you can walk right off the beach and snorkel to the reefs, or just stare into the mangroves where you find seahorses, tiny barracudas, and all sorts of tiny infant more than steps away! you can then order a panga from the other side to come and pick you up for a nice dinner at one of the cay restaurants, and then kick up your heels at dial willy's disco! Or a short kayak paddle away you can hop off the kayak and snorkel to your hearts content, or make your way over to water cay, another uninhabited island ALL TO a picnic lunch or watch the sunset with a nice bottle of wine, with no one there to bother bring a tent and blanket and pillows or a hammock to stretch in between two palm trees and camp out there or hang a hammock for the gilligans island experience, and if it is just too serene you could paddle back to your little villa in sunnis cove for a hot shower instead of 'roughing it. bring the traditional hot dogs and somemores makings and can truly say i've been on a deserted island 'roughing it' but have the amenities moments away!
