About this property

Summerhaven - Oceanfront Beach House on Warm Sandy Beach

Summerhaven Beach House is a spectacular fully updated century home located oceanfront and overlooking miles of surf and sand; a vacation spot that is truly PEI. Breathtaking views in all directions - beach combing at your doorstep with new treasures to find each day. Relax on the oceanfront deck with views of both the sunset and sunrise.

Southern exposure makes this one of the warmest beaches on the Island. At low tide hundreds of acres of sand are exposed leaving shallow tide pools that are warmed by the sun. It is a perfect spot for swimming, walking, and exploring. The waters here are warm and inviting and perfect for families and young children.

Located within minutes of the charming village of Victoria-by-the-Sea there is theatre, fishing, kayaking, antiquing and restaurants nearby.

The living room and kitchen both overlook the beach and stunning blue ocean so when you aren’t sitting outside, you can still keep it in view from indoors.

Eight people can sleep comfortably at Summerhaven. There are three spacious bedrooms upstairs - each one with a big window to let in the fresh ocean breezes and a view of the ocean.

The history of Summerhaven is unique - Designed by Island architect C.B. Chappell and originally built for the PEI Railroad, it was home to Railroad Stationmasters since 1900. The house was recently fully restored and moved here to the ocean.

Your PEI vacation awaits!

Paradise in PEI!
We were so lucky to stay in this beautiful home in PEI. My parents and I had a wonderful time on the Island, and particularly sitting in the front room of Summerhaven or outside, enjoying the sunshine. Everything was wonderful. Ms. MacLellan has a well-deserved reputation for being a super host and everything was perfect! The house has a lovely beachy vibe and all of the three bedrooms are beautiful and roomy. The house was incredibly clean and tidy and very welcoming. The bathroom and half bath are both on the first floor so if you have to get up in the night then you need to head down the stairs but that was fine! The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, and there was a barbecue out back. We had quite a few meals 'at home' and that was lovely. The back room is the star of the house with its amazingly big window and even more amazing view of the water. You can have your coffee, drenched in sunshine and admiring the view. Due to the big storm Dorian that had just passed, the stairs to the beach had been lifted up. Although, it would have been nice to have that incredibly easy access, we were able to access the beach (at low and higher (but not high) tides!!) just down the road. It was lovely to wander out there at low tides. The area around Borden-Carleton was lovely and easy to get around, we hung out at the house, but we also took trips up to Cavendish, Summerside, and spent many a happy hour wandering Victory By the Sea. There are some lovely crafty places there and several delicious places to eat. In particular we loved the Lobster Barn (book ahead and make a reservation for lunch or dinner), as well as the Landmark Oyster House. We also had a wonderful meal at the By the Road Side Café (amazing clam chowder and fresh bread) and the store has many reasonably priced and beautiful art and crafts. It really was a slice of paradise! I would love to come back sometime in the summer to take advantage of even more spectacular things on PEI and to once again enjoy being at Summerhaven! It is very aptly named.

First time in PEI - but not our last
Windows facing in every direction invite the sea breeze throughout the cottage. We had evening temps of 20 C, but the breezes may it comfortable. At high tide, the water is amazing and deep enough to swim freely. At low tide, you can walk for miles and the water reaches hip height. The cottage itself was exceptionally comfortable and filled with little extras, such as children's books and toys in the shed. The only shortcoming is that the bathroom and powder room are both on the main floor, and the bedrooms are all on the second floor, so nighttime visits to the washroom can be tricky for the very young and very old. We are already dreaming of our next visit.

Rustic Well Located Cottage For The Whole Family To Enjoy
The location and decor of the property were great. Centrally located to access all areas of the island and with a beach that was enjoyed by young and old. The cottage/house has all the amenities of home and more. There were three bedrooms but with a small den area with a pull out couch could make four bedrooms if required . Lots of room between neighbours and lots of comfortable chairs for sitting. This is an older home but the decor and room available gives a large living space for everyone to enjoy. Communication with the owner was easy and information provided by the owner helped plan our vacation. Our family would stay here again. Loved the ambiance and location.

Authentic PEI Experience
This was our 4th trip to PEI and this house offered the best experience yet! I travelled with my 3 teenage daughters and we loved this house! We visited during the first week in July and the beautiful ocean view was framed by the lupins. Most mornings and evenings we were treated to visits by 3 baby foxes playing on the edge of the yard. The beach directly in front of the house was great for waking and frisbee during the low tide. The short walk to the beach with the bridge view provided the best beaches we’ve seen for sea glass. The house was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. It’s an old house but not lacking in any area - other than not having a bathroom on the second floor. The location is great and allows easy access to the entire island. The beach view and access make this a one of a kind experience. The house is in a quiet area with very few neighbors. We enjoyed riding the bikes on the roads in the neighborhood. The bikes accommodated 3 of us at a time and there were a couple of additional bikes for younger kids. Carol was great to work with. She was very responsive to my questions leading up to the trip and she made sure we had everything we needed upon check in. We can’t wait to stay here again!
