About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom 1.5 Baths

The brand new Casita that now sits on top of the Santiago hills community now features a 500sqft PALAPA on a 1100sqft Terrace/Deck. This area is located right next to the pool on the 2nd floor of the villa, there is no other property on this hill that features the exquisite views you will indulge in day or night while dining or sipping on your favorite drink.

All this aside from its excellent ocean views from the living room-dinning room and bedroom.

The master bathroom has an overhead shower and beautiful Cream Color Cantera Stone wash basin. The room also has two very spacious closets. The entire house has Parota Wood finishes through out its kitchen, windows, cabinets, closets etc.

Keywords: Not an apartment and not a condo, more like a house within a 4 home complex, a villa (in hotel terms)

About The Owner

Manzanillo Lovers.

We have been to every beach in Mexico, and Manzanillo wins because of its pueblo feel, affordability, privacy, and its not a big PARTY TOWN, making it very nice and quiet, exactly what we want when we retire.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2011

Why The Owner chose Manzanillo

We actually built the whole complex from scratch, it was an empty piece of land and now its a 4 house complex. Its all brand new construction in 2008 & 2009, and now the new property being featured was completed in 2011.

The benefits we see its that its a very small town, with no major international tourism keeping things pretty quiet and relaxed. Being only a couple of hours away from Los Angeles direct flight from LAX to ZLO and also the house is located just 20 min away from the airport, pretty much at the very beginning of the town. The house is located on a hill very secluded from the noise and traffic and everyone else, so its quite private.

Our families have been coming to this town to vacation since the 60's so we decided to make it our second home.

What makes this villa unique

Perfect weather, amazing views, its cooler than most properties at sea level since we are on a hill.

We can just walk down the hill to the beach with our dog; also to the convenience market just below the hill we could buy basic necessities as well as beer/ wine.

We recommend renting cars if you have trouble walking or getting around hills.

We do offer FREE AIRPORT PICKUP (must request in advance)

Not a 5-star

  • 3 of 5

When I look for a place to stay, I look at the photos and the reviews.

Unfortunately, the photos were taken when the complex was brand new, and haven't been updated.

There is a now a house blocking the view from this unit. The “excellent ocean views from the bedroom and living room” don't exist.

The whole place is in dire need of a spruce-up and good cleaning.

Someone needs to go through the condo and throw out old (cracked and gross) kitchen stuff. And stained comforters. People staying in the other condos went out and bought new cooking utensils, pillows and mattress pads. For the price they're charging, one shouldn't have to do this!

Also, there was no DVD player or video library as advertised.

However .... The pool/palapa area is great. Benito does a good job. And Linda is also great. Anything we needed, she was happy to help.

If you're not into walking steep hills, you'll need a car. Miramar Beach (the good beach) is a 15 minute walk from the condo.

In my opinion, the place is overpriced. And definitely not a five-star.

Owner's Response: Dear Louis, I am sorry to read your review, however let me clarify the following: 1.- The living room has the same ocean views as you see on the pictures (6 & 7 on the listing). Not sure what you mean about having “now” a house blocking the view. The house “in front” of our units has been there for 16 years, 8 years before we started construction on this land. However, again if you look at pictures on the listing, there is a perfect ocean view from the living room. 2.- The ocean view for the bedroom is there as well, if you look at the first pictures on our listing, there is a huge window on top of the bed, you only need to open the miniblinds to see the ocean. 3.- We proud ourselves of having an amazing cleaning place, you can see on recent posts from other renters. I understand that you used the oven and didn’t clean it. Looks like our cleaning lady oversaw the oven and did not clean it; however I do not understand why you did not mention anything to Linda that is always available and willing to help. Same goes with the “cracked kitchen stuff” and the DVD you mentioned. I emailed you to find out how you had found everything and you replied that the condo needed some bowls and utensils that Linda made sure to get you brand new by the following day of your arrival. 4.- Your comment about “people in other condos” also takes me by surprise since as you can see on our listing #201189 located on the same complex, the people staying in December 2016 and January 2017 (same time as your stay) gave us a 5 star. We replaced all the mattress pads in January this year. I checked with Linda and unless they took it with them, there are no new pads, utensils nor pillows in any of the other units. There is however one person that just checked out last week that bought one pillow since he needed to put between his legs for a back problem or something like that. You might be confusing it with that. 5.- Finally I want to remind you that we gave you a special price since you mentioned you were on a budget when first contacted me regarding the loft (listing # 201189), I offered this other unit “White Villa” to accommodate to your budget and you agreed. Pictures at the listing are the same as when you booked this unit. We wish you good luck to find a “5 star” place within your budget that satisfies your 5 star standards.

Great vacation!

  • 4 of 5

This was a fun trip - taking our family of five to Mexico for the first time. We all enjoyed the pool, the beautiful views from the palapa (amazing hammocks)and clean accommodations. The villa was comfortable and we were able to fit all of us with the help of Linda providing extra beds. Having a few more kitchen items like silverware would have been helpful. The blender was awesome - smoothies in the morning, blended cocktails in the afternoon. The walk up the hill is very steep but after a few times you really get the hang of it and was not a problem. We spent lots of time at The Oasis and at the Hostal Olas Altas along with various other restaurants in town. Loved the dogs running around and even a few iguanas crossing the road! Linda was a huge help with directions, advice and she let us rent her car for a day trip to Barra de Navidad. The road side fruit stands were really cool - don't pass them up! She also cooked an outstanding meal for us. The kids played in the waves for hours everyday, the beach was beautiful and overall just had an amazing family time together.

Great views!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and loved the views from the palapa! The pool was great as well! We did however feel somewhat isolated, and the hill leading to the place was so extremely steep that although we could make it down on foot, we were forced to take a cab to get back up.

The living and dining areas were very comfortable with many windows and a wonderful view. The bedroom had a/c, which is a plus with the high humidity.

We had the convenience of many kitchen appliances, which included a microwave, 6 burner stove with oven, a blender, and a toaster. A larger variety of cooking utensils such as pots, bowls and oven ware would have been helpful, but Linda was very attentive and provided these as well as extra towels and a can opener when needed.

It was nice to be able to call family in Canada even though we had to ask Linda for the cordless phone in order to do this.

We were able to take advantage of and enjoy large drinks and beautiful sunsets at the Hostal Olas Atlas down the hill. The Saturday market which was within walking distance had an excellent assortment of everything including veggies. Downtown is approx a 30-40 minute bus ride from the main street, and the beach, where it was possible to rent chairs and umbrellas, is close by.
