Rustic luxury with attention to detail. Eva's Cottage is comfortable and cozy, with many thoughtful touches like the down comforter and pillows on the queen-size, custom-built log bed (truly one of a kind!), and travertine/river rock shower. Relax by the massive stone, wood-burning fireplace, or in the hot tub just outside the greatroom. With wireless internet, internet TV and landline, you'll be as connected as you want, or need to be. This one-bedroom, one-bath, cottage is perfect for a couple or a solo visitor. Alternate lifestyle- and dog-friendly.
From the greatroom, antique casement windows overlook the wraparound porch. The nook is a quiet, serene spot for reading or sleeping, and the kitchen is completely furnished to accommodate serious cooks, as well as those seeking a vacation from cooking.
In the well-stocked kitchen you'll find a programmable drip coffee maker, coffee filters, coffee grinder, a French Press, a Keurig, microwave, toaster oven, electric water kettle, placemats, cloth napkins, tea towels and a British hotel teapot with a copper cozy. All this is in addition to a full set of cookware, flatware, glasses, gas grill dinnerware for four, and full-size appliances. Amenities at Eva's Cottage also include toiletries, firewood, and dog towels/cleanup kit.
If you need entertainment beyond watching the deer grazing nearby, you'll find internet TV (there is no other TV reception; the trees are so large they block line of sight to satellites) in greatroom, a TV/DVD/stereo in the bedroom, lots of games and books. Read about the fascinating woman who created this little slice of heaven which bears her name!
Eva's Cottage sits just a few steps from our sandy beach, down a sloping path. It is an idyllic location with many eagles, heron, hawks, and deer, a large 20' deep swimming hole and year-round waterfall. The land surrounding the Cottage and across the river is private and protected. The temperate climate is never too hot or too cold. [Note: beach is shared by residents of nearby home, but they are quiet and respectful of our guests. Please note also that beach fires and fishing from the beach are not allowed (there is great fishing just 1/2 mile downriver, on the other side of the Salmon Falls bridge).]
This 28.5 acre retreat includes a large and rare stand of old-growth Douglas fir, Western cedar, hemlock and maple; some of which are estimated to be more than 300 years old. Eva's descendants steward the land and maintain the forest with an eye to future generations' enjoyment. You'll have access to four trails along the property, so be sure to bring your hiking boots!
A good supermarket, drugstore, and other services are about 14 miles away in the town of Washougal. The location provides easy, year-round access to hiking, boating, fishing, skiing and more. The Washougal is one of only two completely unpolluted rivers in the region. It offers fine fishing, whitewater rafting, canoeing and kayaking as it flows into the mighty Columbia River just a few miles to the south. All manner of outdoor activities are close by, yet the setting itself is secluded and free from the noise and distractions of everyday life.
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
We were so pleased when we arrived at the Cabin on the upper Washougal River. The Cabin is perfect for 2 & the river view is gorgeous. The interior of the Cabin is well appointed. However, housekeeping by Vacasa is unacceptable. Spiderwebs & cobwebs on the ceilings & in the corners, dirty floors & mouse droppings on the kitchen table, counters, window sills & even on the bed covers was a disappointment. The hot tub was not well cleaned either. For needles & bits of detritus required us to clean it out before using it. Seek assurance from Vacasa that the Cabin has been thoroughly cleaned & that you'll be compensated if you arrive to find it otherwise.
Great spot on the river, surrounded by trees. Very clean. Perfect little spot to escape the city. Bring your own wood if you plan to use the wood burning fireplace.
Only complaint is it is lacking some privacy with the cabin next door but would be a great spot for a group vacation if you rent the cabin next door.
Had a great time in the cottage. The cottage is beautiful and very clean. It is super quiet and there is some great wildlife to be seen.
The only thing I would suggest though is to bring some kindling and maybe also some of your own wood for the fireplace as the wood we were provided with was a bit damp. There was also no kindling to help start the fire and no hatchet around to chop our own from the provided wood.
Me and my husband spent two nights here and it was just the escape we needed. Both of us are so busy in our lives it's hard to spend time together. Me being a executive Chef and him a contractor, we have busy schedules real round. This was perfect for us. Nice and quiet. The kitchen had all the tools I needed to make amazing food. (I did bring all my own spices and oils and my personal knives). While he enjoyed the craftsman ship of the home. It was exactly what we needed and I even took some of the business cards off the desk and have been giving them to my friends. We are already planning our next get away. Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us.

Eva's cottage was an absolutely splendid escape! The small 1 bedroom cottage was warm and homey and equipped with all the necessities, including a hot tub. The setting was wonderful and was situated along the Washougal River and right in the midst of the forest, truly stunning. It's about 45 minutes from Hood River or Portland but food and groceries can be found much closer in the town of Washougal/Camas. Would without question stay here again!
