Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 4

Rustic luxury with attention to detail. Eva's Cottage is comfortable and cozy, with many thoughtful touches like the down comforter and pillows on the queen-size, custom-built log bed (truly one of a kind!), and travertine/river rock shower. Relax by the massive stone, wood-burning fireplace, or in the hot tub just outside the greatroom. With wireless internet, internet TV and landline, you'll be as connected as you want, or need to be. This one-bedroom, one-bath, cottage is perfect for a couple or a solo visitor. Alternate lifestyle- and dog-friendly.

From the greatroom, antique casement windows overlook the wraparound porch. The nook is a quiet, serene spot for reading or sleeping, and the kitchen is completely furnished to accommodate serious cooks, as well as those seeking a vacation from cooking.

In the well-stocked kitchen you'll find a programmable drip coffee maker, coffee filters, coffee grinder, a French Press, a Keurig, microwave, toaster oven, electric water kettle, placemats, cloth napkins, tea towels and a British hotel teapot with a copper cozy. All this is in addition to a full set of cookware, flatware, glasses, gas grill dinnerware for four, and full-size appliances. Amenities at Eva's Cottage also include toiletries, firewood, and dog towels/cleanup kit (your pooch is welcome for a small nightly fee).

If you need entertainment beyond watching the deer grazing nearby, you'll find internet TV (there is no other TV reception; the trees are so large they block line of sight to satellites) in greatroom, a TV/DVD/stereo in the bedroom, lots of games and books. Read about the fascinating woman who created this little slice of heaven which bears her name!

Eva's Cottage sits just a few steps from our sandy beach, down a sloping path. It is an idyllic location with many eagles, heron, hawks, and deer, a large 20' deep swimming hole and year-round waterfall. The land surrounding the Cottage and across the river is private and protected. The temperate climate is never too hot or too cold. [Note: beach is shared by residents of nearby home, but they are quiet and respectful of our guests. Please note also that beach fires and fishing from the beach are not allowed (there is great fishing just 1/2 mile downriver, on the other side of the Salmon Falls bridge).]

This 28.5 acre retreat includes a large and rare stand of old-growth Douglas fir, Western cedar, hemlock and maple; some of which are estimated to be more than 300 years old. Eva's descendants steward the land and maintain the forest with an eye to future generations' enjoyment. You'll have access to four trails along the property, so be sure to bring your hiking boots!

A good supermarket, drugstore, and other services are about 14 miles away in the town of Washougal. The location provides easy, year-round access to hiking, boating, fishing, skiing and more. The Washougal is one of only two completely unpolluted rivers in the region. It offers fine fishing, whitewater rafting, canoeing and kayaking as it flows into the mighty Columbia River just a few miles to the south. All manner of outdoor activities are close by, yet the setting itself is secluded and free from the noise and distractions of everyday life.

About Vacasa, WA - Columbia Gorge Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Eagles nest

 • 5 of 5

we watched three male and one female eagle for about an hour, and I am sure it was a once in a lifetime experience as they flew in circles landed on the beach and perched in the nearby trees

Lovely riverfront cottage in the rainforest.

We had a wonderful time on our holiday getaway to this cottage. The cottage is beautiful, very nicely finished and the views out every window are spectacular.

Beautiful cottage on a scenic river in a rainforest.

 • 5 of 5

The cottage is only 30 mins from Portland but conveniently tucked away from the world. Very well-kept and peaceful. Beautiful both inside and out. Only drawback is no wifi or phone signal.... but is it is supposed to be a getaway right? 😁❤️

Perfect River Front Getaway

 • 5 of 5

A perfect getaway right on the river of the Washougal river with hot tub and fire place what else could you want. The Wifi did not work which was a bummer as I was expecting to do some work the first day but was nice not having the distraction on the other days. There are cute little hiking trails through the woods directly from the cabin and your own private beach which our puppy loved to run about. The kitchen is great for cooking and has everything you need. The pictures do not do it justice, you can hear the river from inside the house and sit have coffee in the kitchen enjoying the views. Will be going back hopefully sometime soon!

Indescribable

 • 5 of 5

I could say a million things to describe the view and location and even the beautiful scenery on the drive there but nothing I say would do It justice. You really have to see it for yourself. I suggest maybe brining your own DVD player if you’re wanting to watch a movie because the one provided didn’t work well. Other than that MINOR complaint I have nothing bad to say about our stay. My boyfriend and I hadn’t seen eachother in years (he’s in the military) and this was such a perfect place for us to spend some time together. I’m so happy it didn’t rain one day because we got to use the hot tub which was also amazing. I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful cottage. I’m having withdrawals from it now!

Perfect secluded and cozy getaway with amazing views

 • 5 of 5

We rented Eva's Cottage to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it could not have been more perfect. The cabin was cozy and the views and sounds of the river outside were wonderful. The seclusion was exactly what we wanted for our getaway. Our dog loved the hiking trails all around the cabin, and we sure enjoyed the hot tub after our longs days of exploring the area. We were surprised to learn about the history of the cabin and grounds and it made us appreciate the cabin that much more. We would love to be able to stay again when the weather would allow for us to enjoy the swimming hole and "beach" area. I was a little concerned after reading some of the negative aspects in other people's reviews, but we were not disappointed in the least. There were mouse bait stations placed around the cabin, and that was the only evidence of mice we saw. There were some spiders on the exterior of the cabin, but no insects were seen inside. Even if we would have seen more evidence of mice or insects, we would not have been surprised - this is a very secluded cabin in the woods! Overall, I would recommend a stay here, especially for a romantic getaway.
