About Leanna Petrivelli

Hello, my name is Leanna. This lakehouse is my second home, I reside permanatly in GA a short drive away. I am a buissness owner, a mother, and a grandmother. I love people, nature, and staying healthy!

Leanna Petrivelli purchased this house in 2006

Why Leanna Petrivelli chose Alabama

I purchased the Wedowee Lakehouse as my vacation property because it is a short drive ( a little over an hour) from my home in GA. I have always had a dream to own a lakehouse propety. This home is my retreat and my special getaway, I could not ask for anything more!

What makes this house unique

When I stay at the Wedowee Lake house I enjoy hiking at Cheaha State Park, in fact I take almost all of my friends who come to stay. My daughter and I enjoy waking up before the sun, hopping in the kayaks, and paddling out to the end of the cove to watch the sun rise over the lake. I also enjoy, in the early hours of dusk, to sit in the rocking chairs on the screen porch with good company sipping a glass of red wine, chit chatting, and listening to the crickets and the lapping of the water on the shore.

Amazing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week at this beautiful house. We stayed 2 families, and at one point had 11 people staying in the house with plenty of room. The amenities here are amazing. We loved swimming and fishing off the dock in this quiet cove. We boated on this beautiful lake every day and absolutely loved using the 2 kayaks at the house. We had plenty to do for the whole week and wished we had more time. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The kids loved playing with the games and the ping pong table and the adults loved the screened in porch for the beautiful view of the lake. We cooked every night at the house and we had everything we needed to do so. We look forward to our next vacation at Lake Wedowee and staying at this perfect retreat!

Good, fun, everything we wanted out of a long weekend!

  • 4 of 5

Only reason the property did not receive a perfect five is that I was expecting the gas grill to be in service as we had prepared ribs and such for the weekend. It was not usable by any means, but that didn't stop us! The property offered two charcoal grills that we used. The dock was nice, a little tight for a big wakeboard boat, but worked just fine. The owner was very nice, and answered my questions quickly and was very nice to allow our fluffy friends to join us! We will definitely book again. Again, only very very small things could take this from a 4 star to a 5 star. But I assume 5 stars means absolutely perfect. Everything else we needed was provided. The screened in porch was the best part for evening drinks or morning coffee and kept the bugs off ya! Cheers!

Spacious house needs some TLC

  • 3 of 5

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Flip Flop. Here are the details of what was good and what was not…..

The home has a lot of space. 5 bedrooms made for perfect accommodations. The upstairs loft does not have a bathroom so keep in mind that people staying there need to come down the stairs.

The back screened in porch was fabulous. We spent a lot of time enjoying the views from there. It was also a great way to get our 18 month old outside in a safe way.

Really good fishing. We caught our fair share of bass, trout, blue gill and catfish all from the back dock.

Nice fire pit. Makes for a great night.

The lake is beautiful. The house sits across from a side that is completely undeveloped and its beautiful.

Good location close to town.

The home and amenities really need better maintenance and TLC. With a rental, you can’t expect perfection. However, one of the two kayaks listed was broken with the seat not properly attached making it unsafe. I needed to fix this myself to make it workable. Little things abound like the Adirondack chairs on the back deck needing repair, broken toilet seat, etc.

The cove location and dock while quiet has some drawbacks. It collects a lot of muck and garbage. Additionally, it is really not good for swimming. The water is too murky and has a good amount of old trees and things rising above and just below the surface. So, need to take the kids out a way in a boat for good swimming.

Could use some organization and clean up outside. Several used Spa filters were littered around outside the hot tub. Old rusted out grill just sitting in the yard.

Not much to use the basement for. Lots of empty space that was filled with a broken ping pong table when we arrived. The owner commented that it was not supposed to be there and had been brought inside by prior renters. At any rate, it was not safe to have a small child around so we needed to move it out of the way again.

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Perfect house for big families. So much to do you'll never get bored. Owner was wonderful dealing with. House was amazing our grown children loved the hot tub at night. Dock was great for swimming and big enough for our bass boat and our 25 ft party pontoon boat. Loved being in the cove so we didn't have to worry about the kids and boat traffic. Highly recommend this property.

Beautiful house and location, but cleaning issues need to be addressed.

  • 2 of 5

My husband and I live overseas, and I choose this house to spend a week holiday with my husbands Mom and Brother, who live in AL. The house and location are great, however the house was very dirty. And although my house keeping standards are very relaxed, I did have to take action and go for a spring clean when we came to realize the extend of issues. We kept our belongings in our suitcases, as also the drawers and closets had underwear and other personal belongings, not owned by us, still in there. I had to clean the refrigerator from top to bottom, before food could be put in. We had to buy Draino, as there were so many long black hairs in the bath tubs, that the water did not drain. The towels were old an ragged, and many of the items in the kitchen were or extremely dirty, or broken and unusable. My husband made the comment that it looked like someone had been to a charity store, to buy most of the kitchen items in the house, and he is right. The BBQ gas run out on the first night, and there was no spare bottle. As we did not have the receipt, the money for the refill was not reimbursed. The electric grill plate we used to finish the cooking on the first night, gave electrical shocks, so could not be used again. As said before, we did enjoy the house and location though, and we made for a good week. We had the opportunity to be together and enjoy the deck on the water (however the cushions on the chairs are old, ragged and dirty), and the kayaks, the little fishing boat, the hot tub and the covered porch. Unfortunately did the sauna not work, and also did we lose electricity a few times for a still unknown reason, but probably because of too much power usage on the same breaker. Why did I wait so long with this review? Because I wrote a very long review when we got back home, and the text was too long for this space. I then had trouble differentiating what issues were not important enough. I am currently searching again for a family property in AL, and as we just came back from several AirBNB properties overseas, that were outstanding and still reasonable priced, I realize that writing reviews and being candid within that review, is a necessity to maintain a good standard of listed properties. And unfortunately at the time of our visit did Leanna her property, leave quite a bit to desire. Leanne mentioned to be a divorced Mother needing this income to pay her mortgage, so I hope for this to help her to address the necessary issues to rent the property.

Owner's Response: It has been 10 months since you've been here and since then, all of the issues have been resolved. I have a new cleaning crew, and all other issues mentioned have been addressed. My lakehouse has more amenities than most such as a sauna (which works fine), hot tub, ping pong table, john boat, charcoal grill, cable on 4 TV's, and 2 kayaks. Something for everyone in a group for their enjoyment. With a new cleaning crew that I trust implicitly and all of its amenities, this lakehouse can be the one to make the best vacation memories.
