Dirty but great location

  • 2 of 5

Really wonderful location but the place needs A LOT of TLC. The floor was covered in stains and there was even food on the floor. The air conditioning didn't work and the manager never got back to me, nor was there anyone at the main desk to help. Luckily for us the weather was not so hot so we figured out how to prop open the windows. I would not stay there again unless I was separately on a budget.

Great location, needs renovation

  • 3 of 5

Awesome location right next to the park, but the building and unit feel like they are in serious need of a renovation. Elevators missing ceiling panels, carpeting has stains, doors don't close behind you, bed sheets were overstarched and stiff. Kitchen was renovated and nice, but the bedrooms and bathrooms were pretty dowdy and in need of a makeover. We were just looking for a place to stay for a nearby wedding so it worked fine for the price, but I would recommend looking closely at the bedrooms and carpeting in photos to see if you're ok with the condition.

Great location. Classic old building. Not well maintained.

  • 3 of 5

We loved the location of your property. It was very convenient. The staff was pleasant.

The building itself was classic and beautiful. Unfortunately it's not being maintained well, at least in regard to the rental units. I would assume ours was a typical example. We had a unit with two bedrooms, two baths and a small kitchen. There were cosmetic issues, such as the marked up walls and stained shower enclosures that didn't bother us much. We knew we were not staying in a Hilton hotel.

There were several maintenance issues with our unit. There were loose floor tiles in front of one of the showers. The toilet leaked. The switch on the table lamp in the living area was broken. One of the towel rods in the other bathroom was loose.

The unit was reasonably clean when we checked in, but the carpet was bad. It was tattered, stained and had what looked like gum stuck to it. We didn't go barefoot during our stay. I know

it's expensive to replace carpet but you might consider shampooing once in awhile.

We had no hot water for our first 24 hours and there were several days when we had to wait 5 minutes or so for a elevator. The elevator cars could use some maintenance. There was an access hole in the floor of several of them that were exposed and had pieces of carpet over them.

That all being said, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fine.

I called in the maintenance issues on the unit before we checked out.

Great location, clean spacious apartment

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to Chicago for a week-long conference and it was amazing to have a place we could make "home" for the week. The unit is lovely, clean, with comfortable beds and plenty of space. The kitchen is small but is absolutely adequate if you're only staying a week or two. If you're in to Chicago architecture, the building is just gorgeous. The location is great for tourists as it's right off a main road, between Millenium Park and the Magnificent Mile. Walking distance to the Art Institute (~10min) and Navy Pier (~30min), as well as tons of shopping. We just loved it and truly enjoyed our stay!

Location Ideal, Great View, Apartment Average

  • 3 of 5

We rented a unit similar to the one pictured here in the same building, however, it was much more sparse than in the photos shown. Walls were white "builders" paint, scuffed everywhere, with absolutely no art or colour to brighten up the rooms. The carpet was not particularly clean and the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. However, we did enjoy having use of a kitchen, the laundry facilities, and the pool area. The parklike setting of the location was lovely and we could walk to everything we wanted to see in Chicago. We could see the Navy Pier fireworks out the bedroom window. We had a great vacation, only marred by the dinginess of the apartment. We paid for cleaning in advance --- which would not have been frustrating at all if the apartment had been clean when we got there, without the badly scuffed walls, and a bed that was more comfortable. A little of our rent money for a few inexpensive touch-ups would go a long way to improving this rental.

Owner's Response: Thank you for giving us a *** star rating, we appreciate your business and your review. Due "less careful guests" the walls tend to get scuffed as guests move in and out of the apartments (dragging their luggage). We realize that this is an issues and we typically schedule our apartments to get painted 4 times per year (before every season) and the carpet gets clean every 2 months. Again, thanks for you business!!
