First the house: the big rooms (main bedroom enormous), high plastered ceilings, and gorgeous furniture makes you feel like you are in Europe. The kitchen is well appointed, with surprisingly high quality dishes and glassware...not what one usually encounters in a rental. The complimentary tea, coffee, and cookies were much appreciated. Board games and toys galore (although we were four adults we did set up a pretty wicked Thomas the Train layout!)
Location: a quiet, friendly residential area. Close by is a great restaurant strip where we enjoyed breakfasts at Lila's and an exceptional Thai meal. 10 minutes away is a subway stop which will take you FOR FREE(!) across the river to the downtown area. We also had a wonderful urban walk one day across one bridge, up the famous funicular, and back across another bridge to the downtown area.
The owner Elena: she answered my initial email immediately, and continued to be extremely helpful throughout our trip. Elena provided a binder with a map and all the menus of the local restaurants, so you can have a clear idea about where you might want to eat. She was also available by text the whole time we were there. Although we never met in person, we all felt like we knew her by the end of our stay. A really top-notch experience for us all.
