About the Property
Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 2 Lofts, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)
This is Montana the way you envision it should be! Mountains, forests, clear water lakes, crystal clear fast running rivers and streams, wildlife...the coolest outdoor environment that is found in Montana...and this cabin is in the middle of it all!
This cabin, we call it The Bowman, was built in 2011 and is very nice and well kept. It has one first floor bedroom, a complete bathroom with shower, and two bedroom lofts. It is located on the western edge of Glacier National Park five miles BEFORE the Polebridge entrance to the park. Positioned midway along the length of the wild and scenic North Fork of the Flathead River that runs along the western border of Glacier Park you have blue-ribbon fly-fishing, river floating, kayaking and canoeing at your access. Glacier National Park is easily accessible in two directions. Five miles north is the Polebridge Ranger Station entrance to Glacier Park and providing the more 'wilderness experience' the park has to offer. Bowman Lake, Kintla Lake, Quartz Lake and Logging Lakes all await you to visit in Glacier Park's less touristy and "unplugged" environment. To the south of the property is the Camas Creek Road entrance to Glacier Park and the Going-to-the-Sun Road with Logan Pass and all of the scenic splendor this national park has to offer. You don't want to miss the scenic wonders of the Going-to-the-Sun Road.
The Bowman cabin is nestled against the forest and meadows of the North Fork with the mountains as your backdrop. Wildlife abounds in the North Fork. Moose, Elk, Wolves, Mountain Lion, Black Bear and Grizzlies all call this area home. By selecting the Bowman cabin you are stepping into a wilderness setting but with many of the comforts of home. This cabin is within 1/4 mile of Glacier Park (as the crow flies) but there are a couple of other rental cabins nearby, but not on your doorstep. (150 feet away)
You can enjoy quiet times on the porch and cook if you wish since the Bowman is has a fully-equipped kitchen, or there is a table top grill available. From this cabin there are unlimited outdoor activities. Of course, hiking is the most popular since Glacier Park is a terrific hiker's park. But you can see plenty of spectacular scenery from your vehicle througout the region.
The Bowman cabin places you away from the more crowded and busy locations of West Glacier and Apgar but within easy scenic drives of Glacier's top scenery. If you want to go to town for dinner, no problem. Simply drive straight south on the North Fork Road (486) traveling mostly through Flathead National Forest land and along the "wild and scenic" designated North Fork of the Flathead River. It's simply beautiful no matter which direction you go.
For the more adventurous visitors who come equipped with a capable vehicle there are forest service roads up and down the North Fork Road just begging you to find out 'what's up that road'. You can almost reach mountain tops on some of the forest service roads in our area. Road licensed ATV's can be used to venture out and are welcome here. When adventuring the backcountry roads we recommend driving a vehicle that sits high. The Bowman is easily accessed with any standard automobile. No 4-wheel drive or high riding vehicle is necessary.
Unplugged: Our location is twenty miles off the utility power grid. That means all of the electric power is produced by our sophisticated generator, battery and inverter system. It is an experience all it's own to find your spot in paradise but not have to give up the true essentials. Most accommodations around Glacier Park do not have televisions and in many places a cell phone will not work. Same is true here but if you feel the need there is a close-by café that offers Wi-Fi.
You'll love the all wood decor of the cabin along with the Made in Montana, Montana-artist bear wall art. The walls and ceiling are all tongue and groove wood planking, the efficiency living room / kitchen is furnished with a leather loveseat, rocker and wood table with accents. The kitchen features a granite counter top, black accent appliances (gas range, refrigerator, sink), hickory cabinets and a customer eating/serving counter for enjoying breakfast, lunch or dinner. The bedroom has a comfy bed with denim appointments and cute accents. The full bathroom has a shower (no bathtub), vanity and toilet. You aren't staying in a rustic old cabin without comforts or electric. The Bowman is next to the wilderness but gives you a quality lodging experience.
You can enjoy a bottle of wine on the large front porch, at your private fire ring or at the private picnic table. You have lots of options to start out your day or cap-off a full day of outdoor activities.
For larger parties of guests, such as weddings, family reunions, etc. we have additional cabins available. Contact us for special arrangements. (See Polebridge Montana website for additional information)
Come stay with us. You'll turn an ordinary trip into an extraordinary outdoor vacation adventure!
