About Martha Hartsfield

Pete and Martha enjoy the mountain areas and enjoy having family gatherings in their mountain home. With 4 children, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, our home has provided lots of educational and fun activities over the years.

Martha Hartsfield purchased this chateau / country house in 1999

Why Martha Hartsfield chose Rabun Gap

This area is beautiful and has something for everyone--shopping, golfing, hiking, water rafting and many more! It is centrally located so that you can visit Dollywood driving through the Smoky Mountains or visit Ashville and get back the same day. We've been staying in and enjoying the area since 1970. We picked out the lot, and we actually built the home ourselves with the help of family and friends.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Awesome sunset mountain views! Beautiful wooded area with wonderful fall colors!

Sunset Ridge

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Sunset Ridge, and we are already trying to plan the next trip. This time the bridge was too cold for much porch sitting, so we opened the blinds and had stunning Mountain View’s while we relaxed around the fire logs. Five cousins joined us and we got in the kitchen together an cooked one night. The kitchen literally has everything we needed. The North Georgia sites and activities are close and we enjoyed shopping in Clayton and eating at the Dillard House. We did not have time to go to Lake Rabun and go th the Falls on this short trip, but we did make it for a picnic at Black Rock.

We love this home which is so warm and inviting. Martha is a jewel of a hostess. The mattresses are terrific also. We have stayed in many VRBO homes in Rabun. County and this is our favorite. Can’t wait to go back, Amy

Great Place, Great Location, and Great Views.

  • 5 of 5

I usually don't write reviews but I felt that this vacation home was special.

The home is located just far enough from town to give you a true country feel but close enough to all the conveniences and activities that adds to the vacation experience.

The home is very clean and well appointed. Each room has a beautiful setting with a true country look of warmth that makes you feel at home as soon as you enter. The deck offers an outdoor eating area next to the dining area that allows for a more open feel.

The kitchen is well stocked with good cookware, plates, dinnerware and appliances. There was even spices, some coffee and other cooking supplies. The washer and dryer worked great and made our stay even better.

The views from the living area, porch and outside yard were beautiful. You overlook a valley with a mountain back drop which made you feel relaxed and calm. On the days that might be to cool for the porch, the living room offers a beautiful fireplace(gas) that you can sit by and still enjoy the views. There is even a little fir tree with stuffed bears that adds to the overall charm. For those who keep an eye on the weather there is a weather stick that can be viewed from the living area.

For those who need it, the WIFI, cell phone service and TV/Cable worked good.

There is a nice fire pit with a good view on the lower ground level that made our stay even better. Only wish we had done smores.

There is covered parking for two cars with a short uncovered walkway to the house and additional parking for at least two more cars.

Beautiful! !

  • 4 of 5

This is without a doubt, the nicest place we've stayed in yet. The only complaint we had was the beds downstairs could have been more comfortable, but with all the other assets, we could excuse that. Beautifully decorated as well as beautiful view and easy to get to. Owner was very accommodating. Can't say enough about her graciousness. Evelyn

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words! Will have to check on beds as this is the first we’ve heard that. It’s hard to have a happy medium on softness etc. for all, but will definitely check on. Thanks again for staying with us. Martha
