Location the BEST!

Walk 5 minutes to a village with grocery store or simply sit by the pool to enjoy the view. This villa has it all! Our family of 10 (adults and kids) spent 2 weeks at Villa Maria and would recommend it for its amenities and location. The host, Tomasso, and chef, Donato, were the ultimate guides and helpers. Take the train into Florence to avoid parking a car. Experience Borroncino Restaurant in Reggello for a gastronomic treat. We would certainly return to this heavenly spot for touring Tuscany.

Return Visit Even Better

Our second visit to Villa Maria with extended family was every bit as magical as the first. We enjoyed evening dinners on the veranda, lounging by the pool and visiting the Tuscan hill towns. Our dinner prepared by chef Donato was exceptional…a highlight of the visit! Our host, Tommaso, was very helpful and available as needed.

Tuscan

The villa in the Italian hills did not disappoint. Even the flowers were blooming and abundant as they were in the photos. We enjoyed all aspects of the property…the well-maintained pool, the various dining spaces, and comfortable areas for visiting and reading. The newly renovated bathrooms were a great surprise. Tommaso, the on-property manager/owner was incredibly helpful and assisted us with many requests and valuable advice. The advice ranged from restaurant recommendations to helping with car mechanical issues. Tommaso is a wonderful host and seemed to enjoy his work.

Under the Tuscan Sun

Marco and his son Tomasso are wonderful hosts! The Villa is amazing and we loved our time there. We spent every other day relaxing at the pool, playing tennis and ping pong in the pool house. We were two families with 5 kids all age19-22. We also hired a private chef, Donnato, who prepared two fabulous meals paired with wine, which we highly recommend. The Villa experience was definitely a highlight of our trip to Italy and we look forward to staying there again. Thank you Marco and Tomasso!!

Beautiful Home in a Spectacular Setting

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Maria! The house lived up to all the reviews and photos, and the view was stunning. The location was very convenient. We especially liked being able to walk to town for coffee and pastries each morning, and having the train station so close made it easy to get to Florence. Like many others, we had Donato cook for us 2 nights. We had arranged to have him come our first night, and this was a life saver since, due to flight issues, we didn't arrive until quite late. The food was amazing, and there was enough left each time for lunch and dinner the next day. I would recommend that everyone have him cook at least once during their stay. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Absolutely Fabulous

I booked this villa for family and friends because I loved the photos. Amazingly, the photos don't do it justice. The grounds are immaculate, the house is warm and inviting and the views from the terrace and pool decks are stunning. We had the most marvelous week. We toured a bit, went horseback riding, walked to the village, but mostly relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the villa. We had Donato cook for us two nights, which was excellent. Marco and Tomasso were wonderful hosts. There was great communication leading up to our stay and daily check-ins while we were there to make sure all was going well. Thank you both for sharing this wonderful spot and providing treasured memories for all ten of us. We hope to come back!

Magnificent Villa Maria

We had the most wonderful family vacation in Villa Maria! All 11 of us hated to leave. The property and villa cannot be outdone. The Villa is beautiful, charming and very spacious with ample room for all of us. The property itself is stunning and meticulously maintains with gorgeous and relaxing views. We all enjoyed the pool and the lighted sports court allowed for late night tennis and soccer games. Tomasso is the best VRBO host we've ever encountered as he is engaging, informative and was responsive to every question and need we had. As others have mentioned Chef Donato is a gem that should not be missed. He is a fabulous cook with some of the best food we have ever tasted. He works hard to meet requests as we had two family members that are gluten free. Book Villa Maria...you will leave with happy hearts and wonderful memories.

Amazing Experience

We had a great experience. There were 6 couples and the villa never seemed fully occupied. The setting was surreal looking out to the gorgeous Tuscan countryside. Tomaso was there for our every need. He provided rides to and from the train for some, took us for a tour of his family's olive farm, and became part of our family of friends. Donato prepared 3 of our dinners for the week's stay and each meal was delicious and perfectly prepared. Not having to cook or go out in the evening was a real treat. Side trips to Florence, Sienna ,San Gimignano, and area wineries were most accessible. Hiking trails were right out back. The walk into town for essentials was only a few minutes out the gate. The group all highly recommend Villa Maria as the perfect way to connect to the essence of Tuscan life.

Tuscan Hospitality at its Finest

It’s very difficult to choose only one aspect of this stay that our family enjoyed most - the glorious views of the valley below, the beautiful pool area with umbrellas and loungers and soft towels, the immaculate house and grounds with fragrant flowers on arbors, the comfortable beds with finishes like hand-carved wooden headboards, the soccer pitch on which my teenagers spent hours running around, brand-new modern bathrooms with rain shower heads, the list goes on. Even with all of that, the real standout at Villa Maria is the warm hospitality extended by the hosts, Marco and Tommaso. Our group included grandparents, parents, aunts/uncles, teenagers and a nine month old baby, so a wide variety of needs. Our hosts communicated with us prior to our arrival to ensure that we would have everything we would need ahead of time (key as we arrived on a Sunday and many stores were closed that day which we would not have known). The walk-through at check-in was thorough and well thought out. And during our stay, Tommaso was incredibly helpful to answer any questions we had and to offer advice and assistance. Additionally, we hired Chef Donato to provide some of our dinners and lunches and as many other reviewers have said, he was amazing at every meal. I’m not sure when I will ever eat so well again. So, if you are considering staying at this jewel to bask in the Tuscan countryside, by all means, book it.

The best vacation

From start to finish this was the right choice for us. We were a group of 10 people (5 couples) who are all colleagues from various Universities around the world. We began the selection process in September/October of 2012 and narrowed it down to Villa Maria based on photos, guest comments, and Marco's amazing ability to respond quickly to questions. Marco promised Villa Maria was actually better than the pictures shown on the website. He was telling the truth. Once you arrive you feel like this beautiful villa was yours for the week. Marco continued to be responsive and helpful throughout. He was on site several times to be sure things were going well. Miranda, Marco's villa caretaker, was there for any issues daily we might have had (which were very minimal). The pool was fantastic, the view was better than fantastic. My wife and I agree that for us it was the best vacation we have ever spent. Donato cooked for the the group the first night and it was specatucular. From anti-pasta through cleanup the entire group simply could relax and enjoy. All of the work was done by Donato. We spent each day as individual vacations for each couple. Sometimes joining up for a group activity, sometimes going off on our own. Each evening we would regroup over a shared meal at the villa and retell our adventures. Truly this was a magnificent vacation and we feel so lucky to have connected with Marco! -Lew Conner, Duluth, MN USA

Peaceful Tuscan Luxury Villa

This is my second Tuscany villa experience and so my expectations were fairly high. Villa Maria absolutely delivered on every front. This time, we traveled to Italy with 12 family members, ranging from 70 to 6 in age. The villa is very spacious with great views throughout. The swimming pool was awesome for the kids and has a great covered patio area with lounge chairs, refrigerator and WC. Super convenient. The kitchen supported us well with all the cooking we did. Beds were comfortable. Great airflow throughout the house so even on days that hit high 30's, we were reasonably comfortable. Nearby is a small grocery store that has all the basics, even a butcher. Lastly, and very importantly, Marco and his staff were exceptionally good. Great communication from our first inquiry nearly a year ago, through all the payments, check in and check out. Given these are virtual transactions and you always wonder whether all goes as planned, with Marco you always felt he was there. Last comment on Marco, when he stopped by to say hello, he spent time with us and our map of the surrounding area to give some suggestions. Our absolute favorite was to have lunch in a small town, Villa a Sesta. He told us there were a couple great places there. We showed up and explored the town, which takes all of 10 minutes. Stumbled on Villa di Sotto. Sat out on the patio, overlooking the olive groves. Had amazing wine, buffalo mozzarella, parma ham, and risotto. Great experience. Other food options there as well. Worth including in a day trip to the area.

Guestbook Comment

My wife's divorced sister invited us to join her at an opera in Verona during Jume 2003. In discussing plans , another sister, her daughter, my wife's niece, and a female friend of my sister in law all mentioned they would like to join us. This meant I could be the only male travelling with 5 females on a trek to Italy. Since I have passed my 72d birthday, I have certainly been in worse predicaments in my life but since we were talking about a group of 6 people, I suggested a villa would make sense if we wanted to stay near Florence for a couple of weeks. All agreed but the women demanded four bathrooms would be required for female privacy and products. An internet search came up with Villa Maria with more bathrooms and bedrooms but I made a deposit with the agent to hold the villa for the dates involved. When it came time to pay the agent the balance, all except the one sister in law had backed out but the remaining three of us decided to proceed as planned, realizing it would be somewhat extravagant for 3 but still doable. I am glad we decided to proceed because Villa Maria was magnificent beyond our highest expectations and convenient to every thing. Our daily routine was to take day trips to Florence, Siena, Pisa and various hill towns in the area after breakfast at the villa and return to the Villa to enjoy the magnificent pool and scenary in the afternoon after having the mid day meal at the many great restaurants in the area. Most evenings we had dinner at the villa and to bed early for another day trip the next day. We had enjoyed our stay at Villa Maria so much that I talked to Marco about availability the same weeks for June 04 and took multiple photos of every room in the Villa and the environs. Armed with these photos, a daughter, son-in-law and two teenage grandchildren, living in Atlanta GA enthusiastically decided to join us and share expenses, so I emailed Marco immediately to hold the Villa. It was the first European trip for the grandchildren aged 16 and 13. We flew into Pisa from London after flying from the states, picked up a car in Pisa while they flew direct from Atlanta to Rome picked up a car after touring Rome a couple of days and we we met at the Incisa Autostrada exit so they could follow me to the Villa. I enjoyed the kids reactions so much as they ran around declaring that the pictures did not do justice to this magnificent place. We all had a ball and it was an unforgettable family vacation. Sometimes we travelled as a group on day trips and other times they visited places they had not seen but my wife and I had seen previously. My wife and I stayed at the Villa more on the 04 trip which we enjoyed since it is our "home away from home". Still armed with those pictures of the Villa, I show them to friends and family at every opportunity to try to generate interest to share another visit to Villa Maria as soon as possible. Molte Grazie, Marco e Mirando.

If you're looking to stay at a special villa and have the Tuscan dream vacation, then Villa Maria is the place for you.  My family and I rented for a week - 9 of us ranging from ages 10 - 78.  From the moment we arrived, we were wowed by the villa itself, the spectacular views and the owner, Tommaso.  Tommaso had ensured that the villa was equipped with every amenity for a comfortable stay not to mention the extras, like leaving a bowl of fresh fruit, bottles of wine and olive oil.  My family enjoyed everything Villa Maria has to offer, including the pool, tennis courts, pool table and the outside verandas to just sit and soak in the amazing views. In addition, Tommaso assisted us with arranging Chef Donato to cook dinners for us on 2 nights.  I was a little nervous because my family has divergent dietary needs (2 of us are vegan) and some are just picky eaters so I wasn't sure if the experience was going to be enjoyable for all.  Well, what Donato prepared for us was a culinary masterpiece and everyone enjoyed every dish he prepared, taking into account all of our requirements.  My family agreed that these may have been the best meals EVER. The only disappointment was that we had to leave. Villa Maria is simply amazing and we are so grateful for Tommaso as he assisted us with all of our questions in the months leading up to our trip and during our stay to to ensure we had an incredible experience. We will forever treasure the memories we made and we will be back!

We, a family of 13, have just concluded a lovely week at Villa Maria, which is a fabulous place. Lovely house in beautiful surroundings, incl. the well-kept garden, pool area, the unique view of the valley with ever-changing clouds and colors, and the nearby town and area. The villa includes everything we needed for a group our size, and we enjoyed the various possible activities, such as tennis, pool, ping pong, etc. between our walks in the area or stints of relaxation by the pool. The host, Tommaso, is super friendly, service-minded and easy to communicate with. We had also indirectly engaged Donato (chef) to cook wonderful Italien meals for us, and he delivered above all expectations. We will for sure return to Villa Maria another time, and can clearly recommend it to other.

Family Vacation for 11

My husband and I spent a week of a family vacation in Italy at Villa Maria with our two adult children, their spouses and five grandchildren in celebration of our 70th birthdays. Our time at Villa Maria was a spectacular experience! The villa is meticulously cared for – spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, with ample seating and dining spaces and breathtaking views. You really need a car to explore the surrounding area. Driving was harrowing at times as the local roads are very narrow. It took us longer than expected to visit other towns and we found that we enjoyed being at the villa so much that we did not travel as often as we planned. I suggest getting the smallest car you think you will need as it will be easier to navigate on the narrow side roads. The highways are fine. Our host Tomasso was fantastic! He was easy to communicate with, answering our questions leading up to the trip and remaining extremely helpful during our time there. His English is excellent and the response time short. He met us at check in and left the refrigerator stocked with enough goodies to hold us over until the next day when we could shop. We hired Chef Donato for 3 nights and he was fantastic! He prepares a delicious multi-course meal right at the villa that left us stuffed with plenty left over for lunch the next day. We felt it was an excellent value for the variety, quality and quantity of food prepared. You can book this property without hesitation – you will not be disappointed!

An Unforgettable Stay.

My husband and I chose Villa Maria to host both of our families and it was the perfect place for a very intimate wedding celebration (14 people total). Tommaso was an incredible host. He checked in on us throughout the week to make sure we had everything we needed. We needed a steamer, he ordered one and it was there the next day. He was kind enough to show us his olive grove near by and gave us lots of great information. Tommaso really enriched our Tuscan vacation with his wealth of knowledge and all of his recommendations. Chef Donato cooked two meals for us: a casual pizza dinner and a special 4 course menu for our wedding celebration. Every minute was incredible. The food was amazing and being able to enjoy the view from the outdoor dining table was perfect. Everyone loved walking down to the little market/coffee shop for breakfast and to pick up a few things for lunches. The tennis court was in perfect condition, the pool was fabulous and clean, and everyone enjoyed playing pingpong and pool. The AC in the bedrooms was amazing and the newly renovated bathrooms were a nice surprise. We can't say enough good things about our stay at Villa Maria! Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again soon.

The bedrooms are comfortable and bathrooms and air con have been upgraded and there are mosquito nets for the windows. The kitchen is well equipped , there is a great bbq, and everything works. Donato cooked a resplendent feast for us all two of the nights we were there. It was excellent. Tommaso is a perfect host: there when you need anything but unobtrusive. My family has more than 12000 olive trees nearby and produce olive oil.

Why they chose this property

This was our family's country villa since the 60's and due to the fact that we don't use it anymore (because every new family has his own country house) we rent it.

What makes this property unique

The real place it's a lot better than the photos let you imagine. You can read the rewiews and be sure you don't be disappointed by this fantastic place. You pay 1/2 than to stay in a 4 star hotel in Florence and you are in an unforgottable private villa with pool and a beautiful enlightened tennis court. This is a practical place to visit all the Tuscany.
