About this property

Gorgeous cottage on West Island

If you want a true beach getaway, come visit West Island. There are no bridges to cross, no traffic jams to fight — just a peaceful and serene neighborhood with stunning, uncrowded beaches. From the minute you turn onto the causeway, you will feel the weight lift off your shoulders. You’re on Island Time now! The long, sandy beaches are yours to explore. And the popular Off the Hook Bar & Grill is just minutes away, whether you walk, bike or drive there.
This mid-century modern cottage has been lovingly updated with gorgeous mahogany kitchen counters, modern appliances and spacious full bathroom. The wood ceilings and clerestory windows provide a bright, sunny and welcoming space to create fun vacation memories.
AMENITIES:
We have all the perks you’d expect from a well-furnished beach home, including:
- Full kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc.
- Front deck for catching some rays, reading a good book and just plain relaxing with family or friends.
- High-speed Internet.
- Private, grassy backyard.
- Gas BBQ grill.
- Fire pit with Adirondack chairs.
- A beach wagon to pack up all your gear for a fun day at the beach.
- Beach chairs, swim noodles, soft-sided cooler, etc.
- Beach toys for the kids.
- Plenty of beach towels, linens, high-quality toiletries, etc.
- A full-size washer and dryer, so you can pack light!
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
One of the best things about our location is NO BRIDGES to cross! West Island is a peaceful and serene setting yet everything you need (supermarkets, shopping) is just minutes away on Route 6 in Fairhaven.
GETTING TO THE BEACH: The closest beach is straight down Fisherman's Street, where there's a path that leads to the private, association beach. It's a great place to park a beach chair and watch the sunset. The main swimming beach is at the end of Fir Street. Bring the beach pass with you. Please swim at your own risk. Never leave children unattended at the beach, and always swim with a buddy.
THINGS TO DO:
When you’re feeling energetic, there’s a ton of fun things to do:
- Bring your bikes or kayaks and explore the area.
- Play golf or take the kids to play miniature golf nearby;
- Take a hike! Our beach house is surrounded by conservation land, and there is a trailhead nearby. You can find lots of other trails in Fairhaven and Mattapoisett, too.
- Walk or bike the path that runs from Fairhaven through Mattapoisett and crosses a scenic salt marsh on Eel Pond.
- There are beautiful bike paths along the Cape Cod Canal and in Falmouth, too.
- Explore the many antiques shops throughout Southern New England.
- Visit the quaint Mattapoisett Museum or the Whaling Museum in historic New Bedford.
- Visit the famous mansions in Newport, R.I. You can buy tickets online.
- Catch a Red Sox game, or check out the Cape Cod Baseball League games for some exciting college-level action. Wareham has the closest ball field.
- Catch the high-speed ferry to Martha's Vineyard from nearby New Bedford.
WHERE TO EAT:
And to top it all off, there are fabulous restaurants — from the No. 1 clam shack in New England (Oxford Creamery) to finer dining at Tastebuds in Mattapoisett or Brew Fish Bar & Eatery in Marion — and everything in between.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Adorable Island Get Away

The cottage was perfect for our family of four and West Island a hidden gem! All the amenities needed for our week long stay were provided and the island itself is quaint and has a convenient restaurant and ice cream shop. We will definitely be back!!

We love this house,.my husband owned this place from 1981 to 1985. The renovation is awesome. The screen door needs repair and I wish there was a walk in shower. But it is a great quiet place to stay. We will more than likely stay again.
