Stanhope Dunes is a truly luxurious two year old, 2800 sq. ft. beach house that has incredible views of the North Shore beaches and sand dunes as well as Covehead Lighthouse and Harbour. The home is designed and furnished to take advantage of the views and to provide an experience that will exceed your expectations. We're just a 5-10 minute walk along a paved sidewalk to the beach and only 15-20 minutes to the city of Charlottetown ( and airport ) and Cavendish!

If being spoiled and relaxing is your goal, then you won't be disappointed. There is an amazing, fully equipped chef's kitchen ( with stainless steel appliances, propane stove, large fridge and separate bar fridge) that is open to a relaxing great room with furniture so comfortable, you won't ever want to leave. Also on the main floor is one bedroom, laundry room with large capacity washer/dryer, mudroom for all your outerwear, half bath and pantry. On the second level, you'll find a media room with 52' TV and audio/video components that will easily keep all members of the family entertained. The Sonos music system is wired throughout the house and exterior decks and can be controlled by a single controller anywhere in the home. There are three bedrooms on this level ( all with wall mounted TV's), a large full bath, and luxurious master bath with spacious custom shower equipped with body jets and air massage (2 person) tub. All of the kitchen and bath cabinetry is custom made with undermount sinks and granite or solid surface countertops. In the garage you'll find four adult mountain bikes with helmets, a ping pong table and a variety of accessories for trips to the beach.

The house has wrap around decks on the main level with a private outdoor shower and a 5 person hot tub to relax in. There is a large second floor south facing deck that is accessible from 2 of the bedrooms; perfect for that morning coffee or soaking up the sun! Four large Adirondack chairs, a two person hammock and a variety of additional outdoor chairs, loungers and tables will meet all your outdoor dining and entertaining needs. There is a large barbecue as well as a portable propane burner with large lobster pot that should satisfy the BBQ'ing expert in your family or group .

For those interested in a more active lifestyle, this location is hard to beat and is unmatched anywhere on PEI ( in our humble opinion of course ). Miles of walking/biking trails are just a few minutes away and you can go windsurfing or kiteboarding in some of the east coast's best conditions. There's a local golf course a few minutes away, and world class golf including Crowbush Cove, Eagles Glen, Glasgow Hills, Andersons Creek and Green Gables within a 20 minute scenic drive away. Of course you can also walk for miles on our beautiful, unspoiled beaches and we include a family pass for the National Park beaches with your rental.

Other activities close by include the Cavendish theme parks for the kids, shopping at the Cavendish Boardwalk and the Dunes Gallery or deep sea fishing at Covehead Harbour. There is fine dining a few kilometers away at the Dunes restaurant or Dalvay by the Sea, one of PEI's beautiful national historic sites. But don't forget to try the fish and chips at Richard's Seafood in Covehead harbour. They also have some of the freshest seafood you'll find on the island.

Why The Owner chose Prince Edward Island

We bought this home in 2011 after looking for years trying to find our ideal beach house. Only one year old when purchased, it offered the design and the modern luxuries we were wanting and was located in the most ideal setting for North Shore ocean views and an active lifestyle. We love being able to walk to the beach and golf course, or ride our bikes for miles on the paved pathways alongside the scenic roads. With a couple of restaurants across the street and fresh seafood available at Covehead Harbour, we can go days on end without driving our cars, and yet we're only 15-20 minutes from all the amenities of city living!

We want to thank Jill and Bob for designing and building such a beautiful home !

The house and location were perfect for our family. It's a beautiful house and well equipped, close to amenities, although several restaurants weren't open for the season when we visited, but there were plenty of restaurants open in Charlottetown.

Fantastic Location for Relaxation in PEI

Our family spent two weeks in this beautiful home. This house has everything you need to make your vacation one to remember. We spent many evenings on the front deck enjoying the view and sounds of nature. It was our first time hearing a red fox, watching the heron, and many other birds that inhabit the island. The nearby beach (5 minute walk) is beautiful, with close access to purchase lobster, mussels, and local fish. The paved bike trails provided a fantastic means to explore the area. Don has thought of everything you need to make a stay in this home an awesome experience. We recommend a visit to the Dunes Gallery in nearby Brackley Beach as well. Charlottetown is only a 25 minute drive away. We would like to thank Don for his assistance and support in making our family vacation one of relaxation, adventure, and new experiences. We would highly recommend this property to others.

Exceptional Home to Enjoy PEI

Our group of 6 adults had a wonderful time staying in this home. As stated in many previous reviews, this home is beautifully appointed with all the amenities and toys you could want to enjoy your vacation. We enjoyed the front porch for morning and evenings with a wonderful view. We also enjoyed the media room on the second floor as we watched our DVD Anne of Green Gables to get up to speed on the author. The bikes were used to enjoy the nice sidewalks for riding. The hot tub on the back deck was very nice. The kitchen is well stocked with all your wishes. We had the Sonos music system on most of the time and enjoyed hearing our favorite artists. Don the owner has done a superb job thinking of all the details. He was also very good to work with before we arrived and even met us as we checked in to go over a few details. This home is a great choice for the North shore of PEI. We had great meals at Dalvay by the Sea and Shaw's motel and even enjoyed lobster rolls and fish and chips from the local sea food hut Richards. The beach was close by and excellent! Thank you Don for providing such an excellent experience!

Simply Tremendous

Don has a simply awesome property with every detail a traveller could imagine thought out in advance. You get what you pay for and although highly priced during summer worth every penny. The nights soaking in the hot tub were an extra special treat. 2 minutes to the beach (you can walk it easily) with lots of beach gear/towels/umbrellas all provided makes it very easy. Couple of warnings - there is no retail in Stanhope so stock up in Charlottetown and do not open the doors at night if the wind isn't up, mosquitos will attack. Super attentive owner who goes above and beyond for comfort.

Modern, clean, spacious, well-appointed house in perfect PEI location

We stayed at Stanhope Dunes for two weeks in July. The house was an ideal space for a family of 6 (2 grandmothers, 2 parents, 2 children). Everyone had their own private space to read or relax and the common areas were spacious and beautifully decorated. The house is in a perfect position to enjoy sunsets over Covehead harbour and a perfect view of the Covehead lighthouse. The location can't be beat - only 20 minutes to sightseeing amenities such as Cavendish, Brackley Beach, North Rustico Harbour and also only 20 minutes to shops and stores in Charlottetown. The beach is within walking distance (even for children) and there are paved bike trails which are perfect for kids. The house had everything we needed to prepare meals in the large kitchen but was also close to great food (Richard's seafood is less than 1 km away, and Shaw's Hotel is only a 5 minute drive). Stanhope Dunes is the perfect spot for travellers who appreciate modern, well-appointed houses for their travels.

Stanhope Dunes Was Beautiful!

We rented this lovely house for a family vacation of 12 people (7 adults, 3 teenagers, and 2 small children). Most members drove in from Ontario, but two of us flew in from Alberta. Upon arriving at the house, we were pleasantly surprised by how well-appointed it was. We had a wonderful week in PEI, and thoroughly enjoyed time spent snoozing in the hammock, relaxing in the hot tub, family dinners in the spacious kitchen, and ping pong tournaments in the clean comfortable garage. This was a memorable vacation and I personally would love to go back again, to both the island and the house.
