About Harry Hong

My wife and I have two kids, one boy and one girl. We all love skiing, hiking, and boating. We have a home in Orange County.

We really enjoy the getaway in this wonderful cabin surrounded by the mountains and the lake. Please join us in our cabin, relax and have fun.

Harry Hong purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Harry Hong chose Big Bear

We fell in love with Big Bear Lake years ago when we came here for the first time. We like the various activities here at different season. As a four seasons resort community, Big Bear Lake is really a unique place near the Los Angeles region.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is cozy, quiet and spacious. It features a pool table, a game table, a game station and a 50' HDTV. It is next to the Lake, close to the Marina, the Village and the ski slopes.

Cozy and Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Perfect little cabin for a weekend getaway - we celebrated our daughter's 15th birthday by bringing her and a couple of friends for the weekend. Bunk bed room was perfect for them! Good location, warm and welcoming, easy check in and out. Everyone loved it.

Mr. Hong is VERY cooperative

  • 5 of 5

I booked his house for February of 2017 for a bachelor party. Shortly after booking we had more guys confirm. I notified Mr. Hong who immediately returned my emails and cancelled my reservation for a full refund. Only bummer is that I don't get to stay at his awesome place. Will return in the future.

Great weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Me and a group of friends decided to rent a cabin for my bday weekend and came across this cabin online. Being that this was my first time renting a cabin online I was a little nevous but Harry made the process extremely easy answering any questions prior to arrival. The key was mailed about a week prior to check in along with some instructions which made everything easy once there. The cabin was exactly as described and very clean! Just checked out yesterday and we're already figuring out whens the next trip back!

Weekend full of fun, snow and football

  • 5 of 5

I was fortunate to come across this home as we had a large group (9). From the time we booked, Harry answered all of my questions and concerns. A week before arrival, Harry mailed the key and welcome package. As we drove up to the home the photos did not lie. The home looked just like the online.

No need for an ice chest for our booze. There was snow on the deck and the back yard was full of it, so we decided to make use of the snow. The kitchen was perfect for what we needed it. It was stocked with pans, plates, silverware, etc. However, for a large group you may need to bring large containers to do your mixing and storing. The fridge is huge, which was perfect since we didn't plan to eat out. The open layout upstairs was a plus for entertaining, since we planned to watch the Super Bowl. The game room was fun too, but chilly. Bring a space heater.

The location was great. We walked to the lake and the village is literally a 3 min drive from the home. Next door to us was an empty space which allowed us to play in the snow. We picked up a few sleds at the local sports shop and down the hill we went. We did go into town and had some drinks and Whiskey Dave. Cool hang out spot.

Make sure to bring your chains if you don't have a 4x4 or appropriate tires. Parking one of the cars was a mission, since it kept getting stuck. Follow Harry's information about parking. There is no overnight parking on the street.

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation and recommend this house to anyone looking to relax

Really??

  • 1 of 5

Check in was at 4 pm. We got there at 4pm and the cleaning service was still there and did not let my mother in to use the bathroom. They had to drive into town to use one. Walked in about 4:15 and there were random giant lego toys like the previous visitor left and the cleaning service didn't want to clean. Cleaning service stated that the bathtub faucet was running and would not shut off. The owner requested that a repairman would enter the premises the next morning so we had to stay and wait for him. Had to wait until 11:30am so our only morning there was a bust. The owner stated that we should trust the repairman to show up without us there, but really? with all of our possessions and no lockable room, that wasn't happening. Repairman said that valve leaks by often so roll the dice to the next visitor. Carpet throughout the home and was filthy. Silverware and cookingware was not clean in the drawers. Had a gob of peanut butter on one spoon, and random residue on everything else. Upstairs showerhead had poor water pressure. Beds felt like you're floating on cardboard except the bottom bunk bed. Heater can't keep up with the poorly insulated home (single-paned windows, draft through the doors). Downstairs master bedroom would get super hot from the heater. Only thing good about the premises is the location, otherwise I'd skip this one guys. I don't expect the Ritz, just livable. Spent a dozen years in the Marine Corps and can rough it...I was kind of roughing it here.

Owner's Response: That check-in day was a back to back day. Another group checked out on the same day. The cleaning service had limited time. They ran a little late and neglected some places in the cabin. I will ask them to improve the service. As to the draining faucet, not only the cleaning service reported it to me, this tenant also sent me an email about it half hour after checking in. So I felt it was urgent to get it fixed. I asked this tenant's permission before sending a handyman. He replied "I suppose so". So a handyman went there in the morning and got the faucet repaired. If this tenant had said clearly no, I would have certainly not sent the handyman. Or if he had suggested some time convenient to him, I would have done so. I really did not expect that he would have a strong and rough reaction like this.
