Scout Group Utuado Stay

We stayed with a group of 20 high school scouts and adults at this VRBO for 2 nights. It was perfect for our needs! Beautiful place and plenty of space. The host was very helpful and communicative. Directions to the property were very detailed. This was a great find!

Great host, wonderful property!

The host Adam was/is everything! He is very friendly and makes you feel like you're his family! He made sure we had what we needed and recommended places of interest when we were looking! The property was more than what pictures can show so that really was a pleasant surprise! And if you are a lover of nature, you will love this property!

Excellent All-Around

Excellent all-around. Outstanding lodging, host, location, facilities, cleanliness, safety, setting, privacy, etc. I could not have been more pleased. Beautiful part of Puerto Rico, a tropical paradise in the mountains, and a good base for exploring the rest of the island. I plan to return. I highly recommend that visitors explore outside of San Juan, and the prettiest beaches are elsewhere. I would give the lodge and the host an A+.

Amazing jungle location and incredible place

This place was really great. Very close to lots of jungle hikes, and even one right in the backyard leading down to a really cool waterfall. The layout of this place was really great and you could tell they put a lot of work into making it nice for everyone. The glamping tents were a very nice touch as we were able to wake up to an incredible view with the clouds over the mountains. Post was incredibly helpful. I don't think any other host has ever helped me as much as he did. Definitely made my stay better by suggesting lots of things to do nearby and very helpful and responsive when we did run into a couple of small issues.

Beautiful Adventure

The property was beautiful, spacious, and clean. The property owner was very responsive when we had issues due to the weather. The one detail I feel should have been emphasized on the VRBO listing is that the water at the house needed to be boiled prior to drinking. We did not realize that was the case until we arrived, and we would have made different arrangements for drinking water had we known.

This property was GREAT for our 19 person family gathering!Our host, Adam, provided helpful information about the road to this place (which is a challenging road up from Utuado), and responded quickly to our questions about getting into the house.Adam was responsive to our concern when the power went out for part of one day, and was great about encouraging us to make day trips. We went to the beach, the waterfalls, and a big trip to the bio-luminescent bay!The space included the main house (with 3 main floor bedrooms, 3 downstairs bedrooms) a separate studio apartment and 3 glamping tents with access to outdoor bathrooms! Even folks who stayed in the house showered outside because of the good water pressure and the amazing view!The kitchen had plenty of pans, dishes, counter space and access to both the patio and the dining room. An additional frig/freezer in the lower level made it possible to have snacks and drinks on both levels. This is a marvelous place for views over the valley, walking paths to the stream and waterfalls -- challenging! --, hammocks on the porch, and separation from town and neighbors. It was just right for a week of focused-family time.

View followed through

The view was as spectacular as advertised. We rented the entire place and had plenty of space for 20 people, mostly adults. This was a super peaceful space for sunrises and sunsets. The swimming hole and waterfall is a bit of a trek downhill, which was a huge hit for the under 50 outdoorsy crowd but not really accessible for the injured and older members of the group. The road up is well paved but quite windy and narrow in places. Having dinner cooked and delivered by locals worked quite well. They were able to accommodate vegan and vegetarians in our groups as well as a nut allergy without a fuss. It made it super easy and no one had to drive up the windy road at night. The kitchen was also sufficiently stocked with pots, pans, appliances, etc. to cook for the group. Overall, recommended for a large group looking for a low-key spot with great views and quiet mornings.

Absolutely beautiful views and amazing communication

Over the past 10 years, I have stayed in over 100 vacation rentals. Adam's communication is the best I have experienced. I had a 12 person group ages 15-87 and he helped with everything from room configuration, to timing on delivered meals and cleanup, to activities in the area that would be approprate for the entire age range.The views from the terrace were stunning both in the mornings and at sunset. The terrace remained a comfortable temperature all day long. We had a few miscommunications, as will happen any time 12 people with such a wide range of ages get together. Adam was quickly responsive to all of our concerns. The bathrooms all have hot water but it frequently takes a while for the water to heat up. The road to the property is best taken with a car that has significant clearance and I highly recommend going down the road for the first time in daylight. The potholes are large and need to be carefully navigated. Of our 12 people, 7 are over 6 feet tall. There were just enough long beds to accommodate the tall people. That may be the first time I have booked a space where we were able to accommodate every tall person without needing to share spaces in uncomfortable ways. Carmen and her husband were incredibly sweet and punctual. They went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. Overall, I would highly recommend this space.

A Very Merry and Sunny Christmas

First - all the reviews are right about our host, he was responsive, even through the holiday, loves the island and really enjoys sharing it with visitors. He spent two hours with us before we even arrived providing us with a list of things to do on the island. And he answered our inquiries in a timely fashion despite Christmas with his family. Second - the place is as immaculate as it is presented in the pictures. And it is the best stocked rental my family has ever rented. All the kitchen items, household items, games, chairs, TV screens one could want. We wanted a non tourist centered visit and though we did a few tourist activities like the bioluminescent bay Adam recommended and a couple of busier beaches overall we enjoyed trying local dishes, shopping in the grocery stores and making new friends. We enjoyed the festivals, the Taino sites, food trucks and local coffee shops. Third - we explored many corners of the island. We had a good time and once we almost mastered the windy road to the place we enjoyed all the property had to offer including the outdoor showers, swimming holes and roped trails. Overall it was a memorable holiday for our entire family.

Lovely outdoor porch w amazing view

This was a great house for a family reunion where the focus of the trip is spending time together. We took turns cooking meals and eating together, alternating dinners outdoors with meals around the dining room table. The best part was having coffee on the porch above the clouds, which form a soft blanket over the valley. When the sun burns it off, you have an amazing view of the reservoir which then twinkles with light at night.

AMAZING!!!

This house met all of our needs for such a large group and what an amazing view!! Adam was very quick about responding and made sure our stay was great. The place was clean and very comfortable even with 27 people. I would highly recommend this place for small or large groups!

Perfect Home For My Large Groups

I recently used this home for my group of 17 medical students and professionals. This is the second large group of 2019 I have brought to Puerto Rico and both times we stayed at this beautiful home. This home is perfect for my large groups because it provides privacy, comfort, and Adam and Cathy work very hard to accommodate our every need. The house was extremely clean and well prepared to receive my group of 17. My group was blown away by the comfort and beauty of the home and of course the incredible view! The privacy is extremely important to me personally as I am responsible for the safety of all of my groups. The home is very private and secure and to be honest, we felt as if we had the entire mountain to ourselves. There is no other place I would rather take my large groups. I look forward to staying at this house again very soon!

Exceeded all expectations!

I can not say enough about how wonderful our stay was overall! Between the outstanding service, the beautiful property and it's privacy, and the delicious home cooked meals, Adam and Kathy exceeded all of my expectations and catered to our every need, and with 9 college girls in the group we had a lot of needs! My organization brought a large group of nursing students to do volunteer work on the island for a week and as you may imagine, there is no such thing as a set schedule with us! Yet somehow, as if by magic, we had hot breakfast every morning, hot dinner every night, a beautiful clean home at all times, and I had the advantage of being worry free which made my job with my group much easier. Adam and Kathy provided all the amenities we needed and then some. First, the view! No words or pictures can do that view justice, you just have to see it yourself! The food was wonderful, the river is beautiful and my group really enjoyed the hike. The house is large with plenty of room for the group to entertain themselves, and it was so nice that a bonfire was available to enjoy. Adam and Kathy did not just host my group, they showed that they truly cared about my group and their experience, not just of the house but of Puerto Rico as a whole. They showed how much they cared with all of their actions each day. From before we woke until we went to bed each day, Adam and Kathy cared for my group and I am extremely grateful. There is no other rental property anywhere in Puerto Rico i'd rather take my groups.

Incredible Hosts & Views

I came to PR on a humanitarian trip with a group as the Marketing Director of the non profit. Our leader chose this home and I couldn’t be happier. It was at a great price, the perfect location and the hosts were amazing. It was my first stay and it won’t be my last. I run a bed and breakfast at home and they inspired me to the max. I stayed in a room on the bottom floor, it was surprisingly comfortable and cozy. I was not expecting that view when I awoke. It is breathtaking. I not only fell in love with the island but with Adam & Cathy. They made it a point to get to know each and every one of our group. We had 9 nursing students with us bringing healthcare to those in need. They stayed in the rooms on the top floor in the main house. Everyone one of them raved about their stay. The beds were cozy and the amenities were perfect. We will definitely be coming back! That hike down to the waterfall is something I’m so grateful I went on because I found the perfect space for meditation. They were accommodating and their cooking was out of this world!! Thank you guys for quickly becoming my friend.

Incredible home, hosts, and PR experience

Our hosts, Adam and Cathy were such warm and incredible people. They took the time to help us with our humanitarian activities and cooked amazing meals. Tranquil and Spacious home in Puerto Rico

I can’t believe how at peace I felt here. The Sanctuary is a perfect name for this place. The home is spacious, clean, full of amenities (including WIFI) and quite relaxing. I loved swinging in the hammock at night while listening to the frogs. The hosts are quite attentive, and even respond to a quick late night question or two. I really felt at home here with the mountain breeze on my skin, and the sounds of nature all around me. This is now my go to place to stay when I am in this area.
