About this property
The Stone House, Marigot Bay- Character, Comfort, Private Pool, Wonderful View
The Stone House is one of the original buildings in Marigot Bay, a site probably chosen for its fabulous Bay view & cooling easterly breeze.
A recent renovation has created a relaxing & inspiring home with modern day comforts & artistic charm.
The front gates open into a driveway with parking for 2/3 vehicles directly outside the house. On entrance you're greeted by an open-plan living room and kitchen area, a light and uplifting social space with vaulted ceiling & hardwood flooring.
The kitchen has unique polished concrete tops with breakfast bar & stools, the sink looks out onto an ocean view making this a pleasurable area to create cocktails & feasts, a local cook is an optional extra, you'll see how the unusual local produce is cooked & experience a delicious home cooked creole meal.
The favorite spot is usually the balcony, accessed through large sliding glass doors, you're instantly captured by the view which can be enjoyed from the lounge or dining areas situated on the balcony.
The 3 double bedrooms (King size, Queen size & Standard) all have bay views & louvered glass windows allowing you to control the welcome through breeze.
All beds are hand crafted on the island and each bedroom has an individually designed en-suite bathroom.
The house is on two levels connected by a handmade wooden spiral staircase.
The King size bedroom is on the upper level, it has AC, a ceiling fan & a large fitted wardrobe.
Both the Queen size & Standard bedrooms are on the lower level divided by another lounge/recreational area, there is a small fridge & sink, allowing you to enjoy hot & cold beverages whilst relaxing downstairs. Double doors open onto an outside deck with table & chairs, it conveniently leads to the pool....great spot to enjoy your coffee/tea after a morning swim.
The classic kidney shaped swimming pool has a salt water system, its 27’x 13’in size & ranges from 4’-7’depth. An incoming waterfall creates a relaxing sound whilst the infinity edge shelf ensures the beautiful bay is still in view.
A Caribbean home just isn't complete without a BBQ, with a pool side seating area this provides another dining option, particularly enjoyable during sunset!
The house has both 220v & 110v electrical supply & ceiling fans are fitted in every room.
Solar water heating & rain water collection tanks are one of the eco-friendly features.
Free Wi-Fi throughout, cable TV, a multi-regional DVD player & sound system with large speakers inside & small speakers outside on the balcony to ensure you can listen to your favorite music via your iPod. whilst enjoying a rum punch or local Piton beer & watching the boats, birds or night lights in the picturesque bay.

Why they chose this property
Location!!! Marigot is a stunning location, it's also on the cost of the Caribbean sea, perfect to access both north & south of the island by road or by sea.
Marigot Bay has a wonderful community, a mix of residents, visitors & locals, integrating local life with international people, an interesting social environment.
I enjoy exploring, trekking through the rain forest, BBQ’s on beaches, a mud bath in the volcanic spring & adore waterfalls all of which the island has to offer.

What makes this property unique
I lived at the Stone House for 4 years whilst building another property just down the road where I now live. It's a very special home, when I spend a few days there I still find it hard to leave, especially now we've finished the renovation, it's bright, open, arty & fun.
I love unusual, natural, character places, which generally tends to be older properties. The Stone house is one of the original buildings in the bay, built from stones found on the land in 1960's, I believe they followed a Canadian chalet design, it was 2 apartments, we've now converted it into one house adding an extra bedroom with bathroom. I love the fact it has a chimney & fireplace an unusual feature that gives it character, I've now installed a built-in gas oven, which signifies our changing times. It's wonderfully solid & simple, stone walls & wood floors, the glass sliding doors & louvered glass windows are great, seeing the sea, sky & trees, feeling the breeze, all this gives me a sense of space & well being.
The pool is fab too, we've put an infinity edge shelf, so now it's so relaxing hanging on the edge watching the Bay.....perfect!
Undeniably the best spot in the house is the veranda, sitting on a lounge chair gazing down into this stunning bay, watching the boats, birds, people playing on the beach, the magical night scene with lights & music drifting up from the bay...with a cold Piton Beer...really can't be beaten, it's captivating, relaxing, therapeutic.... indescribable!
