Great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cozy Woodland Cottage! It was the perfect size for our family of 3, and the AC unit did a great job keeping the living room and kitchen area cool during a particularly hot stretch. The bed in the main bedroom was a bit firm for our taste, but that was a small detail in an otherwise lovely stay. My husband said it reminded him of the cottage he used to stay at as a kid on the Cape, so it definitely had a charming, nostalgic feel!

We were very happy with this cottage and the set up was particularly helpful if you have smaller children - you could sit in the TV room and not disturb children sleeping in the bedroom. The deck is lovely and large and the outdoor shower is spacious and heavenly! The one negative - terrible mosquitoes (not the house’s fault, it is a more wooded area) - made it difficult to even load / unload the car without getting eaten alive.

Nice little getaway

My family and I went for a quick couple night getaway and found this place for a reasonable price. Cute home, fully stocked. To my surprise it had sheets and towels available which you don’t usually get when you rent. ( I had packed my own ) It was very clean which I appreciate. I would stay again and recommend to anyone. Thank you.

Rustic retreat

My husband and I spent 5 days last week at The Woodland Cottage. We have camped for years and were very grateful to stay indoors. The cottage had a king-sized bed that was very comfortable, great shower and the kitchen was equipped with almost everything we needed (had to buy a can opener). One unexpected perk that I didn't see mentioned on the description was having linens and towels provided. The home is on the older side and in need of updating, but overall, it was comfortable and safe for a getaway to my favorite place!

Cozy charmer on the bay

Love the outdoor space, both day and night! The large deck, fire pit, and outdoor shower create the perfect oasis! I want to take all of my showers in the outdoor shower on the deck and end each of my days watching the embers in the fire pit. And it's all a short bike ride or walk to beautiful bayside Thumpertown Beach! The cottage itself is cozy but has great spaces to chill, whether you're reading a book, watching a movie, or playing games with the family. The kitchen is well stocked perfect complimented with the grill on the deck. I can't wait to come back!

Cozy retreat in a great location. House could use a deep cleaning and some updating, but is perfect for a short stay for a small family. The only negatives are the lack of storage space in the home for clothes and belongings. There are dressers in each room, but they are old and small. We had to use the living room adjacent to the kitchen to keep our suitcases and basically used that room as a storage space. The front room has a ton of windows for a lot of natural sunlight, but the one AC unit is in the middle living room, which I feel is where the TV should be. It was not too hot during our stay and the AC worked well even cooling the front room. The Shower is on the smaller size as well as the toilet. The first night the smoke alarm went off twice for no reason, but Vacasa was very responsive and helpful. There were some ants and spiders, but not out of the ordinary for a cottage in the woods. I wish we could have been outside more as the outdoor space is amazing, however, the bugs were just horrible making it almost impossible to walk into the house let alone spend any time outside. Kitchen was perfect and has all the supplies needed. No washer/dryer or dishwasher, but not an issue. Beds were super comfortable and the towels and extra sheets were amazing as both were included in our stay. Not bad for the price especially being in a quite neighborhood and a great location.

Cottage in the woods

Decent location. Ok place to rest your head at night. House is definitely in need of some TLC. Plenty of space inside, small kitchen, all utensils were nice to have. Bedding was nice to have too. Ashtrays full of used matches all over the back deck, front door sits two inches above ground allowing anything small with legs to come on in. Sticky notes everywhere telling what the switches were for (not aesthetically pleasing). Cost was good, value mediocre. Vacasa was good with communications.

We communicated with our property manager and sent multiple photos regarding our concerns- we also didn’t want our kids to be concerned at all because- Vacation and kids don’t always understand why things are not as they should be, nor should they need to be concerned about adult issues.The big bag of opened liquor in one of the bedroom closets was A big concern for us and i am debating filing a larger complaint with the Vacasa affiliates & State of Massachusetts and or Town of Eastham - for 3 Reasons - 1. My husband and I are in recovery (not an easy road)2. Our teens could have come across the opened alcoholic beverages before we did and what if they were curious enough to try?!? - kids are curious 3. Tells us that the closet, in addition to other areas of the rental, were not fully inspected, cleaned/tidied, prepped for the new, incoming Renters.I believe we received an automatic 30 credit? but really, as I stated to the property manager - we shouldn’t have to spend a couple hours of our vacation time, cleaning, sweeping, picking up, dealing with and hiding items from curious teens…*we cleaned in order to justify the Expensive nature of the rental costs/fees our AND having to be opened to the triggers of available and opened ALCOHOL, whilst we are both in recovery!!!We need to decide what we are going to do about everything- it has been on our minds and we want the right thing(s) to be done so that another family or persons do not experience the same stressors

Great location and on-point price (mid-June rate)

The setting of the cottage was reminiscient of my grandmother's place from my youth (bonus points for nostalgia) and the proximity to Thumpertown beach was ideal. I loved walking our dog down the quiet private lane every morning. The house is quaint and met our needs nicely for a few days. We thoroughly enjoyed the large deck (my daughter and I did yoga there very morning & we ate all our meals there) and LOVED the outdoor shower! The kitchen had the basics plus a well stocked pantry for a vacation home (spices, sugar, flour). With that said, it was a bit too cozy for our family of 5 to stay any longer comfortably (2 adults, 19 year old, 17 year old, and 11 year old) due to the teensy bedrooms and single bath but was fine for a few days. There are a couple of quirks to know about: electric is a bit dated with no ceiling lights (just lamps but not all connected to wall switches) & not all outlets worked; coffee table was super wobbly (nothing heavier than a book or coffee cup, maybe); a couple of windows were a bit tricky to open and close; and VERY snug in the bedrooms--although there were small dressers, there wasn't really anywhere to hang clothes (a couple of hooks, one of which needs to be rehung more securely) and storage in the bedroom was lacking overall. We just put our bags in the main room and got clothes from there as needed. We did not run the AC and were comfortable with open windows and fans--house was pretty stuffy when we first arrived at 5:30 but cooled by bedtime. The grass in the yard was pretty long but that seems to be more common on the Cape in general as I saw other properties with long grass. There is some poison ivy near the firepit that should be taken care of but it was a great spot to roast s'mores and enjoy a campfire. It was wonderful to have our sweet Jack Russell terrier with us for this trip--thank you for accommodating dogs! We were 1/2 hour from all of the places we were interested in checking out on our visit so the location really can't be beat. It was our first trip to the Cape and I know we'll be back! Overall, I would recommend this as a place to stay for smaller families.
