The Periwinkle Cottage is a charming cottage in the woods overlooking ocean. New Oceanfront Master BR 2023 & complete remodel in 2021. The Cottage is above a cove one mile south of the northern tip of Campobello Island and within walking distance of the Head Harbour Light and Head Harbour wharf where working fishing boats dock and Whale Watch Tours take on passengers. CHECK OUT THE DRONE VIDEOS BY CLICKING ON THE QR IN THE PHOTOS SECTION OF THIS LISTING. ENJOY! The Lighthouse is one of the most photographed in the world . At low tide you can walk on the ocean floor to go over to the island the lighthouse sits. The Periwinkle is a 2 bedroom room cottage with an expansive deck for bird and whale watching and a lovely view of the Bay. Totally renovated in 2021 and new kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedrooms and loft and larger open deck overlooking the ocean. Enjoy dining alfresco with eagles and ospreys flying overhead and the sounds of whales feeding in the cove below. Easy, close-up views of whales are frequent in the summer and early fall from the cottage. This is a private and charming retreat surrounded by trees and Adirondack chairs on the cliff overlooking the water.
Imagine sitting in a boat on the ocean, so close to a whale that you can look it in the eye! or just sitting on your deck or adirondack chairs and a whale blows!

The Bay of Fundy is a marine paradise because the waters of the bay are important feeding grounds for many whales.
The Periwinkle Cottage is on beautiful Campobello Island, home of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt's beloved summer home and the museum and International Park which bear his name. Campobello Island is connected by bridge to Lubec, Maine, home of the renowned candy striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the easternmost point of the US. Within waling distance of the East Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the cottage offers privacy and seclusion and a wonderful view. Campobello is great for beach combing for star fish, sea urchins and sand dollars and shards of ancient sea glass, walk on the ocean floor at low tide to visit the lighthouse. Watch working fishing boats, play golf on the spectacular 9 hole oceanfront golf course, tour the Roosevelt International Park and visit FDR's summer home, hike the trails, go rock collecting on the beaches. Visit Herring Cove, Campobello's public beach with picnic and playground. 2 1/2 hours from Bar Harbor and 1 1/2 hours from St Andrews Canadian resort.

Diane and her husband along with her native american dog breed were amazing! They enjoyed the oceanfront Periwinkle Cottage and all Campobello has to offer. We never heard a peep out of there dog and they left the cottage as they found it! WE hightly recommend them to other hosts on VRBO! Hope you can return again!

Our stay at Periwinkle Cottage was wonderful. Cozy place to stay. The people on this island are some of the friendliest in the world. There was nothing about our time or stay that was less than wonderful.

The check in was so easy and the place was amazing. I went with my 2 grandchildren ages 5 and 8, we all loved the cottage and view of the ocean. The owners have so much history of the cottage and campobello, i really enjoyed tje reading materials and all the items in tje cottage that are old or new with so much history of the island..the first night we had this amazing sunset, the picture i posted is untouched..i would love to go agaim next summer. The large deck and screened in porch were wonderdul.

The amazing and totally renovated oceanfront cottage was the perfect spot for Elizabeth and her partner! We made an exception to rent the private oceanfront cottage with decks, firepit and screened in porch overlooking the ocean for one night only for Elizabeth which we rarely do.

Peaceful getaway

This was our first time on Campobello Island and this was the perfect place for us. Beautiful setting , super clean and quiet. Had everything we needed . We caught a beautiful sunset our 1st night then the weather got crappy but there were plenty of interesting books to read. Would love to be around when the whales are in town. All of the other properties look just as nice.

Wonderful, well decorated/located gem on Campobello Island

My husband and I had a great time at Periwinkle, loved the cottage, it is well equipped and decorated with lots of antiques and unique pieces giving it a "back in time" and modern feel; the flowers all around the house add a nice and coloured touch; the view is amazing and there are so many different spots from where to enjoy it, including the two chairs on the cliff at the end of the property, where you can see and hear whales; the cottage is also perfectly situated, close to the lighthouse, the park, a wharf, a new restaurant and convenience store, and so much more!

Just perfect

We were driving from Montreal to Halifax for a graduation and we were looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights before the graduation day. This charming cottage was available (it was fully booked for the whole month) and we booked it right away. It is a gem! Beautiful view of the ocean. Hurricane Fiona hit the coast on our first night, but we were cozy and warm despite the strong winds. Campobello Island is gorgeous. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Periwinkle cottage. Highly recommended.

Lovely Cabin with a Perfect View

This cabin is newly renovated and just lovely, with lots of light, comfy beds (there are actually two queen bedrooms which is more than the original listing said), a nicely stocked kitchen, and best of all - a wonderful view from the deck. A screened in porch, in addition to the deck, makes being outside possible no matter what the weather. We loved the location on the island and really didn’t want to leave when our time there was up.

What a delightful place to stay. The cottage was beautiful and tastefully appointed. Dennis is a great host. The view from the back deck was stunning. The only downside... we didn't stay long enough. This property is a real gem.

Wonderful cottage

The cottage and location were beautiful, with great views of the bay -- we saw whales and porpoises from the deck, but also from the lighthouse down the road. Beautifully decorated and very clean. Great hosts, who stopped by to chat and see if we needed anything. It was wonderful to simply relax and enjoy a place that's a bit off the beaten tourist path.

Amazing Reset!

For anyone who hasn't been to Campobello you need to go, and stay at this cottage. Easy to get to, small but lots of space, truly well setup. Can't wait to stay again!

Periwinkle Cabin was perfect!

Our stay was definitely too short. The cabin had everything we needed and then some! Very clean and cute. Décor was fun and interesting. A mini lighthouse at the entrance of the cabin! Lots of extras; cribbage board, books on the area, Tv, phone, screened in porch as well as open porch with a hammock overlooking the bay. I photographed several whales, seals, bald eagles, ospreys. Cute little sitting area with a fire pit closer to the water. Just amazing! Thank you Dennis and Margaret for sharing your little piece of heaven! We cant wait to come back!

what a lovely and amazing spot

We had a simply lovely time at this bijoux cottage. We saw whales, porpoises and so many bald eagles it was amazing. No need to go on whale tours if you stay here. The cottage itself is very cute and tiny. I would not suggest more than two stay there as it is a cozy fit. We love Campobello and this is a perfect place to just chill and watch the ocean and wait for a whale to popup. I would definitely suggest a stay at any of the cottages owned by Mr. Haire, they are all nice as we have stayed on one before.

Lovely view and porch

We enjoyed our stay at the Periwinkle Cottage. The screened in porch was wonderful when the bugs were out in force. For averages size people, the cottage itself is quite small. The bed seems to be a double and the mattress has seen better days. Planning the trip was easy as the owners always responded to questions via email within 24 hours.

Perfect cottage for Two

Periwinkle cottage is the perfect place for two to stay, recharge, watch sunsets, and wake up to the eagles. It's at the lighthouse end of the island, leaving plenty to explore and enjoy. A screened in porch offers a little more room and a retreat if it rains or the mosquitoes come out! We loved it. This property is too small for a family with children, but it is equipped with a working kitchen and lots of cross ventilation. We loved 55 degree mornings and 70 degree evenings and wonderful sunshine. The cabin is close to the shore to watch for whales.

Unique, rustic cabin, what a gem!

Excellent location on cliff overlooking bay. Screened porch, deck just added. Furnishings inside and out excellent. Decor homey, coastal theme. Books, collection of sea glass, use of space, all were awesome. Wish we could have stayed longer.
