About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Retro Retreat: Cozy, Moderne, Affordable House in Wine Country.

3 bdrm, 2.5 bath for the price of 2 bdrm 1 bath rental!! We are offer low prices. We would rather book more nights at low rates than fewer nights at higher rates.

The Retro Retreat is a fabulous little house built in 1951 and recently updated for comfort and convenience with central heat and A/C. It is centrally located in a very quiet neighborhood just north of the town of Sonoma, with easy access to highway 12. We have an updated kitchen with new cabinets, appliances and granite counter tops.

The main living room, kitchen and dining area is open, providing an extra large space for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. A great space for celebrating holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or just long weekends! One entire wall of the living room, dinning and kitchen area is glass, looking out on a covered patio and large back yard. The floor plan is ideal for two couples or a family. Two bedrooms, a full and half bath are in one wing of the house, another bedroom and full bath are in the other. The living room, dining area and kitchen are in the center of the house, providing complete privacy between the two wings.

The Retro Retreat is just minutes from the Sonoma Plaza (2.4 miles) for shopping and dining experiences, and within walking distance of the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. In just a few minutes, heading North on highway 12, you will visit dozens of the best wineries California has to offer.

If you want to stay in after a day of wine tasting, dinner is a snap with provisions from Whole Foods or Sonoma Market. In addition to the new kitchen, there is a BBQ, dining table, chairs and lounge seating on the covered patio. Plus, staying at the Retro Retreat is a great way to save your $$, so you can splurge all that much more on Sonoma’s fine wines and dinning.

When you book with us, let us know if you like red or white, so we can greet you with a bottle of one of our favorite Sonoma wines.

About Josette and David Eichar

Josette and Dave have lived in the Sonoma Valley for 12 years. While living in San Francisco, we often spent long weekends in the Sonoma Wine Country, so we decided to move here to enjoy the warm sun and the outdoors, away from the city traffic and noise.

Josette and David Eichar purchased this house in 2011

The owners are excellent- very reaponsive and really put a lot of thought into extras to make the house even more enjoyable. Would gladly recommend Retro Retreat to a friend or for my family's use in the future.

Great place to stay In Sonoma, CA

  • 5 of 5

The house was a great place to stay for the 6 of us. The house is very convenient to the wineries, shops and restaurants. We felt very lucky that the house was available for our stay. The the owners, Josette and David, were very kind and helpful to our needs. They even gave us a welcome bottle of wine. We just want to thank them again for a wonderful stay.

Wonderful Sonoma base for our wedding stay. Well appointed house, quiet, delightful garden.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this convenient and thoughtful Sonoma home. Our only issue was spotty WIFI. Other than that we were comfortable and enjoyed the many seating areas throughout the home and the beautiful garden and outdoor area. The perfect Sonoma experience for our group.

Comfortable and convenient

  • 4 of 5

Our group of three couples found the Retro Retreat to be a cozy home base for our wine-tasting vacation. The common space was large enough to accommodate us all comfortably and the arrangement of three bedrooms with three separate bathrooms made sharing the home easy and equitable. The outdoor space was a welcome bonus. The kitchen was nicely appointed and those of us cooking really appreciated that some staples were provided in the pantry! The owners Dave and Josette were very prompt and patient in answering our several questions. Relaxing at Retro Retreat helped make our vacation in Sonoma a great one!

Large, comfortable space.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. However, we thought the beds were too firm and the shower in one of the bathrooms never got hot. The house had way too many knickknacks sprinkled around - I like a simple, coordinated environment, but that's just a matter of taste (I'm a designer). It is decorated in "grandma's attic," with an assortment of eclectic old furniture, but the chairs and sofa were comfortable to relax in after a long day of wine tasting. If you're not looking for a deluxe experience in a rental, you'll be happy here. The price was just right for our group of five.

Owner's Response: Stephanie, Thanks for letting me know about the beds and shower. I have put foam mattress toppers on 2 of the firmest beds. As for the shower, this is the first time I have heard about this and it is strange since both showers get hot water from the same water heater, and the one you mentioned had the problem is closest to the water heater. I will check it out. ................................................... I have since had the shower checked out and the next 2 guests said the water did get hot in the shower, though it took a couple of minutes since it is a ways from the hot water heater. Dave
