A second home

We have been to Sand Lake several times and it is starting to feel like a second home! We enjoy the quiet and it is nice to be so close to family for visits.

Unbelievable Price for the Location

A great cabin with lots of space, multiple bedrooms with doors, good internet access for the area, and plenty of cooking utensils. Close to multiple hiking trails, and very close to a huge, beautiful apple orchard. What I can’t believe is the price - for a literal lakefront property! - which was $20+ cheaper than any other cabin in the area. Highly recommend.

Quiet and peaceful place

We were here to visit family and this was an ideal jumping off point for Newaygo. This is our second stay and.we will definitely be back!

Nice cabin

Lance and Lori were fantastic hosts! It was a cute cabin . The only negative was the extremely small bed in master bedroom and not enough drinking water. I would recommend their property for a nice place to stay.

Quiet weekend at Sand Lake

It was a rainy weekend but we enjoyed our stay in playing board games and eating soup. Fishing when we could. Surrounding towns are peaceful with hidden scenic and service gems. Sand Lake was so pretty every morning. Great stay!!

Delightful!

We stayed in the cabin with our granddaughter for four days and we absolutely loved it. It's not fancy but has everything needed and was a delightful vacation rental. Would love to use it again some time!

Perfect winter lake cabin

This was our 2nd time visiting Lance and Lori's cabin as a little weekend getaway and it was just as nice the 2nd time. Easy lake access, some great neighbors to chat with as we had our fun on the ice, a nice fire out back Sat. night - a beautiful stay. Beds were really comfortable and all the amenities were great. Thanks Lance and Lori!

Cozy

Had everything we needed for a long weekend. Beds were more comfortable than others houses we've stayed at. Would recommend. Note: the house is a bit more east (by about 100 feet) than where Google maps directed us. The owners have a big address sign out front to make it easy to find.

Getaway to focus on Work

The property was very quiet and I was able to focus. The lake was a nice distraction when my mind needed a break. I appreciated the large dining room table that allowed me to spread my work out and still have room to eat meals. This was a perfect property for my purpose.

Reunion with college friends

This cabin was the perfect place for a reunion with college friends. The yard is spacious for playing lawn games and we enjoyed hanging out around the campfire. There is plenty of parking for friends driving from different locations. The cabin itself is clean and comfortable. There are many activities to do in the surrounding area. Check-in and communication with the host was smooth.

Awesome place for a winter getaway trip!

Me and three friends spent a weekend in February to do some ice fishing, play cards, and eat some good meals, and it was perfect for us. This was our 3rd winter doing this, and Lance and Lois's cabin on Little Sand Lake was an ideal spot for us - there are 4 places to sleep, the kitchen area was great for us to make our meals, and we spent a lot of time at their dining room table playing cards. An added bonus is that they now have Wi-Fi access - the listing shows that none is available, but they actually do have access.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

We stayed at this little house/cabin over Christmas and it was everything we needed. The beds were comfortable, the ambience was perfect for snowy days and Christmas celebration and the Christmas lights were a nice touch, making things feel festive away from home and providing some night lights for all. It was VERY COLD OUTSIDE while we were here and although the furnace had to run often to maintain a comfortable temperature, we remained snug and warm inside. The room with bunkbeds was perfect for kids and the master bedroom was thoughtfully appointed. The recessed lighting over the bed was great for a nighttime reading. The living space was plenty spacious enough for all to lounge and enjoy a movie or streaming show on the DVD player or smart TV. The wifi was essential for me as I was doing some work in the area and it was reliable and plenty fast. Would stay again. :)

Cute cabin

The cabin was clean and had a nice yard for our dogs. It was fully equipped so we had everything we needed to cook. The owners are responsive and left the door open and the keys inside so check-in was easy. We rented this for a quick weekend getaway for some hiking, biking, and kayaking. The weather did not cooperate and there wasn’t much else to do in the area. The towns are small w some local bar and grills, but the food wasn’t that great and they were expensive — especially for a small town. There was a decent collection of board games and cards so we played some games, and watched one of the movies from the quite extensive video collection. The decor was back woods cabin and really cute. Our only complaint is the beds — the mattresses are extremely old and it felt like we were sleeping on the floor. The sheets and comforters were not great. We were very sore in the mornings from sleeping in the bed. Upgraded beds/bedding would be an inexpensive update that would make this a really great place to stay. Also, a fenced in area in the back yard off the back door would be helpful as the road outside is quite fast and busy :). All in all a good choice!

Surprised and super happy

The pictures do not do it justice. Walked in and was instantly happy. Plenty of supplies (eg towels and pots) Very scenic in hidden in the middle of farm land. Very quiet. Maybe because it was off season. My only complaint because I am a city boy is the distance to Little Ceasars.

Lovely relaxing weekend

I stayed with one friend in the cabin and we had a wonderful stay. Everything worked perfectly, there were PLENTY of pots and pans for cooking, which was lovely, and everything was very clean. The only warning I’d give anyone looking at staying here is that the second bedroom is definitely a hunting cabin bunk bed. Be prepared for cramped quarters in that room.

Amazing Rustic Getaway

A cozy rustic cabin in the woods with lake access. Great central location for day trips to Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Grand Haven, and Traverse City.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

The original cabin was built in the 1940's back when the roads were dirt and it was a 10 hour adventure to get here from Chicago. My uncle converted the seasonal cabin to a year round cottage in 1972. I looked forward to spending my summer vacations here. Many great memories were made. After I acquired the cabin, I restored the logs back to their original beauty and take great pride in keeping it clean and maintained for a memorable visit. This cabin has been passed down through 3 generations.
