This is the home that I grew up in and it was built by my father in the 50's. The upstairs was added in 1963. The house has always been warm and bright in the winter when the days are cold and dark. The location is easily accessable to the main N/S road which either takes you downtown or out to the Seward highway heading south.
Loved Sue's place. It's funky, cozy and very Alasakan. Neighborhood was quiet and safe. We were probably 10 minutes from the airport but didn't notice/hear airplane noise. The home was conveniently located to downtown. My gps stated 3 miles. I was with my husband and 2 adult children over New Year's Eve/Day Holiday. Sue is thorough and hospitable. She even offered us an extra night bc we arrived so late due to a mechanical issue on our inbound flight. The house was stocked with more than just the basics. Coffee, filters, lots of condiments, cleaning supplies, shampoo/conditioner, bath gel to name a few. There was also detergent on the washing machine which was super helpful since our son had something explode in his luggage and everything was soaked. The water pressure (and temp) was the best I've ever experienced. All Sue requested from us was to turn the temp down to 65 when we weren't in the house and take shoes off and leave in the mud room. Totally understand with knee deep snow and freezing temps outside. Thank you for sharing your home Sue, it was very inviting and I loved all the homey touches. I would definitely recommend and stay again when returning to Anchorage.
I stayed here with a couple family members for 5 nights.
The house is wonderful - lots of space, very neat, everything stocked in it you would need. Parking is easy and the location just great. The front yard is well-kept with beautiful flowers and plants inside and out. We were all very comfortable and felt at home here.
The home owner, Sue, could not have been nicer. Very responsive to questions, super friendly and accommodating.
I would absolutely recommend this home and I would happily stay there again.
Thank you Sue for a wonderful week in Anchorage!
We loved the apartment for our time in Anchorage. It was so spacious, clean with comfortable beds and nice linens, and shades for going to bed at 10:30 PM when it is still light outside. The location was perfect to access the main highways both north and south for our day adventure trips. As a family with young adults, we did a ton of hiking, and Sue was gracious to lend a cooler, so we could pack our picnic lunches for the day. Beautiful plants, and well maintained property. Sue is a delightful hostess-we loved our little chats, and were delighted with the local company she suggested for kayaking in Whittier. Initially, my oldest daughter was concerned that we were not staying downtown, but she quickly learned that there is not much of a "scene" for her age. We can't wait to come back!
We, 2 couples, stayed in Sue's house for 4 pleasant days. The house is full of light and has room to stretch out in the evening. The house is very clean with plenty of closet space and the extra bonus of enough hangers. The beds are comfortable and the linens of good quality. Sue is an attentive hostess but is not intrusive. Having lived in Anchorage for years, she is knowledgable about the city as well as other areas.
Thanks you Sue for sharing your home with us. You helped make our stay in Anchorage a very nice memory.
My husband and I were in Anchorage with our two teenage girls to attend a family wedding. This place worked great for us! The location was handy; the floor plan and design was fun - my girls loved it; the beds were comfortable; the place was very clean; and, Sue was a personable host. I might add that Sue accommodated the girls with separate beds which was greatly appreciated. We sincerely hope to stay here again someday.
Loved the house, all the windows, close to the necessities & sightseeing opportunities & very spacious.
Comfortable furnishings & beds.
Sue was very helpful with all our questions even taking the time to provide brochures from the visitors center before we arrived.
Only reason we didn't rate it five stars, there is no air conditioning which generally would never be needed, we happened to be there when it was unseasonably warm.
Thanks again Sue for everything.
