Thompson lake house is awesome!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent the week celebrating his 50th bday with friends and family at this beautiful lake house. The house has everything you need and beyond, including a gorgeous view of Thompson lake. The house is very well built, modern and comfortable in a rustic wooded setting. The kichen was well outfitted for groups to cook together every night, before heading out to sit around the fire pit (which comes stocked with wood). My husband took advantage of a local guide to learn how to fish the lake and spent every day forward on the lake fisihing with his buddies (and even catching!). We would definitely recommend this for a peaceful summer vacation!

Best house on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the end of August at this beautiful home. It is everything that it is advertised to be and MORE! My husband totally enjoyed the gourmet cookware, I enjoyed the kayak's and the swimming, and we both

enjoyed the fact that we could bring our Golden Retriever! Thank you to Becky and Warren for being so kind and generous. Becky sent me lots of information on activities in the area, but we hardly ever left the house and the lake! Maybe next time ...Sincerely S&B

Beautiful, private, well appointed lake front home

  • 5 of 5

A great private vacation retreat on a lesser trafficked, crystal clear lake within easy reach of Portland, Freeport, and NH mountains. Excellent condition, newer home with all the extras to include large well equipped game and bunk room on the lower level and comfortable bedrooms on the main and upper levels all with lake facing windows to bring in the breeze. We enjoyed the swimming in the cool water and nightly fires in an area that felt like there was no one else around - private. Boat rental was easy to reserve quality equipment and spent a day on the lake with lunch at the northern end at the store. We bought our seafood fresh off the boats on Commercial St in Portland, and enjoyed a large family and friends old fashioned lobster and seafood cookout with ease thanks to the layout, outdoor space, and kitchen pots/tools and large gas grill. Short easy drive from PWM without the traffic volume associated with the greater Sebago Lake area (RTE 302 not required). Naples is few minutes away and provides good views of Long Lake, dining options, and seaplane rides that provide an alternative view of this beautiful area. We loved Becky and Warrens' hospitality and their wonderful lake front property. The pictures on this site accurately depict this rental. Our family had a great vacation here and recommend to families of all ages.

Our Happy Place

  • 5 of 5

We've rented on Thompson Lake for nearly a decade. This was our first summer in this house, and we feel like we've finally found our summer home. We look forward to returning for many years to come.

We found the house was in pristine condition when we arrived. The owner's personal commitment to the home is evident in large and small ways, from the well built tasteful home, to the providing of great sheets, towels, beach towels and PFD's. The master-bedroom suite including bedroom, bathroom, two closets and direct access by way of a sliding door to the screened in porch is phenomenal. The upstairs jack and jill bedrooms and bathroom are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen/great room area is large and accommodating with every amenity a person may need down to the cozy fleece blanket to cover you while you nap on the couch. The kitchen and grill are terrific. We ate in more this vacation than we ever have before -- bringing in steamed clams and lobsters from the Naples Lobster Pound on Route 302 in nearby Naples, taking advantage of the grill, and even baking homemade blueberry and raspberry pies with just-picked-by-us berries from Goss Berry Farm in nearby Mechanic Falls. The home is well suited for a couple looking for a relaxing blissful week on Thompson Lake to get away from it all, and equally well suited for hosting a family looking for Maine-lake fun and adventure.

Thompson Lake is a jewel, and the property's location is ideal for swimming, sailing, kayaking/canoeing, motor boating or just sitting on the dock watching the loons go by -- and we did it all! Go see Guy at Thompson Lake Marina to rent a speed boat for tubing and water skiing or to rent a pontoon boat for a more relaxing tour of the lake. Call Mike and Mo at Sebago Sailing to rent a Sunfish sailboat for your stay. Mike will bring the Sunfish to the property and there is a mooring for the sailboat right by the swim float. Use the property's kayaks and canoe. Or just float in the lake.

The owners are a pleasure to deal with -- responsive, caring and considerate, and interested in you enjoying their home and having a great vacation. We look forward to returning in 2015, 2016, 2017 ...

Beautiful, peaceful house with all the ammenities

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a family reunion with cousins (ages 12-21) and grandparents at this amazing lakeside house that was big enough to hold all 12 of us - the kids are already asking about returning next year! Thompson Lake is incredibly beautiful and remarkably quiet - the sunrise off the water coming through the windows each morning is priceless. We swam and kayaked every day (seems like the kids lived on the floating dock!), rented a boat and skis at the marina (the house has an inner tube to pull behind for the younger children) and the kids played endless rounds of ping pong. Grandma was happy on the screened in porch in her rocking chair! The house is beautifully designed and built, extremely well equipped and has lots of books (we were all unplugged - reading and playing games when not in the lake!). The owners were so helpful throughout our stay. We went blueberry and raspberry picking 30 min away at Gossberry Farms in Mechanic Falls (12 quarts of berries consumed by the next day so we went back again!) and devoured Gifford’s ice cream, around the corner in Casco. If you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful place with all the amenities and plenty of activities for the kids, this house is highly recommended.

Beautiful Home, Beautiful Views, Can't Wait To Go Back!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful home with our three kids (16, 14 and 12) from 7/6-7/13, and we already want to go back. I can't say enough great things about how clean and well-stocked the house is. My husband, who knows much more about construction than I, kept saying how well-built it is. The owner built the house himself and it's pretty amazing. It's wonderfully decorated and the furniture is top-notch! There are also lots of movies and lots of interesting books.

Many windows and fans to help cool you off on hot days.

The lake is down the hill, past the firepit (which we used almost every night)!

Our kids couldn't get enough of the lake, swimming from the pier to the swim dock. The water is very clean and clear. So refreshing! My daughter was catching some big smallmouth bass from the swim dock, so then we all had to try fishing from there! We would put our poles in the 2-person kayak and paddle over, it was great. We also used the two sit-on-top kayaks all the time. They were a lot of fun, very easy to maneuver.

One evening, we saw a mama loon with a couple babies on her back, but I didn't have my camera!

We rented a pontoon boat for a full day, from Thompson Lake Marina. They were very friendly and the boat was nice and clean. The kids had fun on that, unfortunately the weather was not great that day. We were going to boat over to the Outpost, where we could tie up and get lunch, but we had to turn back due to the rain. We did drive to the Outpost and the food was really good!

You really get the best of both worlds in this location, because you are on this beautiful, peaceful lake, but you are close enough to visit the ocean. We visited Portland one day, went on The Lucky Catch Cruise (highly recommend, we saw a lot of seals), shopped, had lunch at Buck's Naked BBQ, had a great time. We also went to Freeport one day, and we tried our hand at SUP boarding on Casco Bay. We took a 3 hour course through L.L. Bean. So much fun!

The best part was coming back to the house, getting a frosty glass from the freezer, and having a glass of our new favorite beer, Shipyard Summer Ale. I'm sure Becky saw a lot of this in the glass recycling bin;) We would go down by the lake til dark, watch the kids swim, listen to the loons. Then we'd have a fire, some s'mores, what could be better?

The owners are wonderful, very helpful, and they really want to make sure you enjoy your time here.

Loved Loved Loved It!
