Amazing house

  • 5 of 5

Amazing house in the middle of the beautiful woods. We loved our stay and enjoyed the closeness to the Lassen Park. We stayed here in early October, so the nights were cold, but the Kerosin oven did a great job heating the whole house. Perfect for a family! Thank you so much!

"Amazing Log Cabin" is no exaggeration!

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute here. The home is beautiful and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. Rebecca was super responsive and made us feel very welcome. Lassen Park is now at the top of our favorites list as well. We will be back!

Very cozy home.

  • 5 of 5

We spent three days at the house at the beginning of September. The house was a great experience, we love the way it is furnitured. The only thing that should be changed is the two beds (studio couch) upstairs, both were way too soft and just not like real beds. Other than that, the house is super recommendable for having some nice days with friends and family.

Beautiful cabin in a convenient location

  • 5 of 5

I’m a bit of a weather junkie, so bear with me. I became apprehensive when I learned we would arrive at the cabin during a late summer heatwave. I knew there would be no air conditioning, and another reviewer mentioned there were no box fans at the property. I raised my concerns with the owners, but they assured me that the cabin would cool off at night.

The daytime high temperature was around 95 F at the cabin during our stay (and, for comparison, it was a sweltering 110 F a mere 40 miles away in the much lower-in-elevation city of Redding, but only 75 F at the higher elevations in Lassen). To be honest, it was a little warm inside the cabin when we arrived. Fortunately, we soon discovered (to our great appreciation!) that the owners purchased two box fans to help keep us cool. We used them every day, and they worked like a charm. Once the sun set for the evening, the temperature rapidly dropped. The National Weather Service forecast an overnight low of only 65 F at the cabin’s location; instead, the temperature dipped into the mid- to upper-forties each night we were there. We simply placed the fans on the wide windowsills to draw in the cool nighttime air; by morning, it was downright chilly inside and we needed the covers to stay warm. And remember, this was during a heatwave! For the truly interest (see my initial “weather junkie” comment), I found that the nearby KCAOLDST2 station on Weather Underground tracked the temperature of the cabin very closely.

As for the cabin itself, it’s hard to come up with praise that other reviews haven’t already touched upon. It has easy access to Lassen, is well appointed, is set in beautiful spot, and remained quiet and peaceful throughout our stay. It is also surprisingly well decorated. The cabin has an overall bear and fishing theme, and this carries over to every room in the house. There’s even a bear-themed toilet bowl brush holder. I didn’t even know those existed.

Overall, the cabin was a highlight of the trip. Thanks, again!

Great cabin very close to an awesome national park

  • 4 of 5

4.5 stars. I chose this house because I am a geologist and I think the activity of Lassen is amazing. So it was great to find a very nice cabin right next to the park. Its a beautiful cabin, well taken care of, close enough to groceries, and has many amenities in the cabin. We used the grill and the hammocks almost daily. The only thing that I wasn't prepared for was the creek. I thought it would be more accessible based on photos, but it is nearly impossible to get into. The banks are steep and, because its a creek formed from ice melt, it moves super fast. So, if you are going there and have kids who will think playing in the creek is fun, think again. Also, if you are going in the summer, know that there is most likely going to be a burn ban in affect, so don't expect to roast s'mores.

Great cabin in a VERY convenient location

  • 4 of 5

If you're looking for nice lodging close to Lassen Park, look no further. This cabin is 20 minutes from the Manzanita Lake entrance gate, at the end of a quiet road in the woods. The accommodations were great for my hiking buddy and I, as it has two sleeping areas, a master bedroom on the first floor and a second floor loft area with two double sleeper sofas (not as comfortable as "real" beds, but very adequate), each with its own bathroom. There's plenty of space to spread out in the living room and eating area beside the kitchen on the first floor. This would also be an ideal place for a family with kids (parents downstairs, kids upstairs in the loft space). The kitchen was well equipped, and there was a loaf of warm bread waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. How nice!
