The tropical setting of the fully landscaped 2+ acre property, with its palm trees, moss-draped oaks, and southern pecan trees, is situated directly on the Marsh to the east, with un-obscured views of Cumberland Island, 'the pass' to the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and Fernandina Beach, FL.; and un-obscured River views to the south (front) of the property! No other rental property in Saint Marys offers these beautiful water views.

You can enjoy sitting on the wrap-around porch of the historic home and watch marsh birds, sail boats, and Cumberland Island Ferries as they head in-and-out of Saint Marys! With binoculars you might also get a sighting of a Submarine based at the US Naval Submarine Base in Kingsland entering or leaving the pass!

The beautiful historic two-story “Main House” with its original Heart Pine floors and 12' ceilings, consists of 2400 sf of living space and is comprised of 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, formal dining, comfy living room, spacious eat-in kitchen with marsh views, washer-dryer and everything you need for a perfect vacation or extended stay in Saint Marys! Furnishings consist of beautiful antiques and antique reproductions that add to the historic ambiance of the home.

The separate upstairs “Captains Quarters”, with it’s upstairs deck that offers “the best views” to the East, is 1200 sf comprised of a 14 ft. Vaulted Ceiling Great Room with living, kitchen, and breakfast areas; queen bedroom with walk-in closet; and large bath with jetted garden tub, walk-in shower, two large double vanities, and private water closet.

The historic “Commissary Cottage” is said to be the actual commissary building from the “SM&K” (Saint Marys/Kingsland Railroad) founded in 1865 by Captain Lemuel Johnson. The quaint cottage, newly renovated and decorated, is situated behind the main house on the property, with its own deck and patio area over looking the scenic marsh and beautiful landscape of the compound property. The one-room efficiency cottage has everything you would have in the comfort of your own home including its own fully stocked full-size kitchen, breakfast area, living room, queen bedroom sleeping area, and private bathroom with shower.

This property is the closest rental property to town (only one “small town block” to the Saint Marys River waterfront and village shops and restaurants)! About Don Pierce-Owner/Jaune' Pierce-Inquiries/Administrator

We are Don Pierce and Linda Harris. We both retired to Saint Marys from Atlanta, GA where Don owned a high-end Antique business (now being run by his son), and Linda retired from a Commercial Real Estate brokerage firm. After seeing the Southern Living Magazine article “There’s Something about Saint Marys”, in 2006, we both came South for a visit, loved what we saw and immediately purchased property for a home. Don built our home here in 2007 and we fell in love with the town and people of Saint Marys and truly consider it “home”!

In September, 2011, Don had a rare opportunity to purchase the “Collier-Casey House” which has remained in the “Casey Family” since the late 1800’s, and couldn’t resist the opportunity to own one of a rare few pieces of historic, coastal-front properties in “the village”. He spent several months doing renovations and updates so that the property could be shared with visitors to Saint Marys as a family vacation/family event destination.

Having our own home locally allows us to oversee the maintenance and rental of the property and to become acquainted with our guests!

A visiting friend once told us 'I never thought I would want to live any where but Atlanta where my family and children are, but I'm ready to call my boss and tell him I'm not coming back'!

Relaxing month of February

Our time for the month of February at the Casey-Collins-Pierce home was so very relaxing. The views, the porches, the antiques, the "quiet", the town (with restaurants to walk to), the golf, canoeing in the Okefenokee Swamp, the trails and beach of Cumberland Island, biking, hiking-- all of this was gifted to us because of Don Pierce renting his lovely, clean, and well supplied home to my husband and me. Thank you !!!

December to remember

This home is a gem at the edge of the marsh! We loved every moment of our stay...the beautiful furnishings, comfortable bed, watching the sunrise each morning with coffee on the screened porch and dinner on the side screened porch...both with spectacular water views. This home is 140+ yrs old and has only been owned 3 times. During our stay we counted ourselves blessed to be among the few who had the opportunity to enjoy this timeless treasure...to watch the sun shine in here and there the way it has for more than a 100 yrs was a privilege. Don & Linda were very hospitable and generous beyond measure! We loved everything about our stay. The town is charming and has a rich history. We took bikes as it's very bike friendly. It was a 5 star stay and one we will always treasure!

Casey-Collier Main House

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Main House for 4 months. I have met some wonderful people here at the property as well as in St. Marys. I have truly felt like I was part of a community. The owners, Don and Linda, are some of the nicest people you would want to meet. They were not only outstanding owners, but extended friendship to myself as well. They really love their vacation rental and it shows. The house is immaculate, the grounds are well maintained, all your needs are provided, and the views are breathtaking. I have spent many mornings watching the sunrise over the marsh from the kitchen table "viewing area", (a large window overlooking the marsh), which I feel is the signature of the whole property. There are so many positives for this property, all I can say is come and enjoy! I guarantee when you leave, a part of you will always remain at the "Main House".

Casey-Collier -Main House

We love historic vacation rentals, and this one surpassed our wildest dreams. When we arrived at the address, we were sure we were at the wrong place. This was so amazing from the entrance and throughout the entire house. Not a single need or want was overlooked when preparing this for the "feeling of home" in a rental. If you are escaping from the cold North, you want a place to relax outside. The wonderfully screened porch provided the perfect place for extraordinary viewing of the Marsh any time of the day. It was further enhanced with the wonderful swings. The renters in the other rentals were as wonderful as the owner. This presented a chance for entertaining and making use of this most enjoyable porch.

This location is perfect not only for marsh viewing, but also for exploration, hiking, and photographic experiences that WOW the photographer.

All I can add is that from the time of saying good-bye to the owners, Linda and Don, to the actual departure, it felt like we were leaving home rather than going home.

Perfect in Every Way

This was the destination for our annual sisters’ trip, and it was fabulous! We were only one block from the riverfront and downtown area, but it felt as if we were on a secluded island. The home is situated on the Marsh, and the yard is landscaped with palm trees, moss-draped oaks, and southern pecan trees as well as a gazebo. There are ample chairs and swings on the wrap-a-round porch, and we enjoyed sittings on the side porch overlooking the marsh watching the boats passing, daydreaming about where they were going, or just hanging out with an evening drink.

The house itself is wonderfully decorated with antiques and comfortable furniture. The floors looked like original heart of pine, there were tall ceilings throughout and just about every room had a ceiling fan. The beds were super comfortable, and the linens were more than adequate. We have never, and I do mean never, stayed in a home that was this immaculately clean.

You can walk to the riverfront to catch the ferry to Cumberland Island, or to eat at one of the many restaurants. Also, the waterfront park is a great place to spend a few hours.

The owners, Don and Linda go out of their way to make sure your vacation is the best ever. We so enjoyed the ripe tomatoes you left for us on the window sill. Thanks so much, Don and Linda.

Commissary Cottage is a great get away for two!

We spent three nights in the Commissary Cottage. The views out over the marshes were beyond compare. The Cottage is a great getaway location for two. (The Cottage along with the main house and Captain's quarters clearly make for a great spot for family reunions) I am sure we will be back when we visit our son and family in Valdosta in the future.

The quaint town with our friendly “locals”, is steeped in history and is the second oldest city in America. It is “The Gateway” to Cumberland Island, a “U.S. National Seashore” park notably known as the wedding site of John F. Kennedy, Jr. and for its Wild Horses that roam the Island. Ferries leave/return twice daily from the water front in Saint Marys. The waterways of Saint Marys offer great boating, canoeing, and fishing and we have no traffic lights or traffic jams!

Saint Marys is also centrally located between Savannah, GA (90 miles to our north) and Jacksonville, FL (20 miles south), and the oldest city in the United States, Saint Augustine, FL (81 miles south) as well as all the coastal cities along the Atlantic Coast, from Tybee Island, Sea Island, St. Simons Island, and Jekyll Island, GA to our north; to Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island, Jacksonville Beach, Ormond Beach, and Daytona Beach, FL south. Orlando, FL, home to Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studio Theme parks, is also an easy 3 hour drive from Saint Marys!

Saint Marys is host to several festivals and events throughout the year including our Rock Shrimp Festival; Hay Days with Town Scarecrow Stroll and “Ghost Story Tours”; Christmas White Lighting, Merchants Open House and Tour of Homes; Mardi Gras Festival and Ball. St. Marys was a featured town for 'Lovetown USA' series, that was produced and viewed on the 'OWN' (Oprah Winfrey Network) in 2012.
