About Karin Josif
Although we currently live in Kernville full time now, we used to live and work in the Los Angeles area and enjoyed bringing our children and our dogs here for the past 25 years. As a family we love all of the outdoor activities this area has to offer, especially hiking, biking, whitewater rafting and kayaking.
Karin Josif purchased this Cabin in 2007
Why Karin Josif chose Kernville
We spent our honeymoon here 28 years ago, and purchased our first piece of property. Camping here when our kids were babies is one of our favorite memories. We grew to love the beauty of the area. There is so much opportunity for all kinds of outdoor activities, and plenty of time left for relaxation. We always wanted a place right on the river. We purchased this cabin in 2007 and have since done a complete renovation, both inside and out. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. This property is just a 3 hour drive from the Los Angeles area and 45 minutes from Bakersfield.
What makes this Cabin unique
The obvious benefit to this property is its location. It offers the amazing sound and view of the river, with the backdrop of beautiful mountains. You will be able to access many activities just by walking outside. Bring your swim suit, fishing pole, book and cooler and spend the day at the beach that is just steps out the back door. Drive 3 miles into town, walk around the antique shops and grab a bite to eat at one of several restaurants. One of our favorite things to do is take the dogs for a hike each morning on one of many hiking trails.

A clean house with a beautiful view
This house was spotless and smelled wonderful as we walked in the first day. The view is amazing. We went to trails of 100 giants, which is pretty close from the property, and the scenic drive was a plus. A small town near is also very charming. Overall, it was a great stay. I would recommend this property to anyone, and of course, I’m already planning to come back in a nearest future. Thanks, Karin!
Fantastic home in a beautiful area. Just what the Doctor ordered!
The River House was incredibly clean and cozy. My husband and I and our 2 dogs loved visiting the Lake just a short drive from the home, and took advantage of nearby hiking opportunities. The River House has all the key necessities - tv (and cable!), comfy beds, dishes, pots/pans. We hope to visit again.
Our third time at the riverfront house. The awesome owners have thought of every possible amenity.
We are 2 couples and 3 dogs.
Thanks for everything.
The place was nice. Neighbor not so much
We liked the house and the location but had the neighbor come over to gripe about us making noise at 1002pm on a Friday night. Keep in mind this was two couples sitting on the porch talking when she came to complain. If you take her out of the equation I would give it a higher score but it felt like we were being snooped on the whole time. So if you are silent and never talk outside this is a good place but if you pay $1000 for the weekend and expect to be able to enjoy what accommodations you paid for then keep looking.
Located in a prefect setting, the river flowing in the back, views of the mountains provided a prefect 4 days of rest and relaxation. The house was great, all the amenities, updated with all the modern conveniences , we will be back and definitely staying at this location.
Karin, you are detailed, accommodating and the communication was impeccable.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Immediately from this property is fishing, hiking, rafting, kayaking and mountain biking. No need to drive anywhere.....it's all right outside your back door. Also in the small town of Riverkern, a few hundred yards from the home, is the Riverkern General Store. They will have all the basic essentials. Great tri-tip sandwiches, soft drinks, beer, fishing gear, and other miscellaneous items you may need.
