Charming Condo, Quiet Neighborhood, Easy Access To Bos & Cambridge Via T Or Car
Clarendon Rd. in Belmont is a wonderful space for travelers interested in a 1 to 3 month-long rental. During June, July, August you would have the entire place to yourself.
It is a 6-room space on the first floor of a 2-family house built in the 1920's. The house is located near the Cambridge and Watertown lines in the Harvard Lawn area of Belmont, which is considered the most desirable 2-family neighborhood in town.
The house is a 4-minute walk from the MBTA #73 bus line. The bus ride takes 10 minutes to get to Harvard Square in Cambridge, and then it’s a 15 minute subway ride into Boston. Or you can park up to two cars in the driveway and drive into Cambridge and downtown Boston within 10-15 minutes.
The space is tastefully furnished and decorated with lots of wood furniture and African art. It has hardwood floors, a beamed living room ceiling, separate dining room, an updated kitchen, a den with fireplace, back porch for sitting, and a fitness room.
The house is on a quiet, tree-lined street with many friendly neighbors. It’s 2-3 blocks from two local parks, one which has newly-renovated tennis courts. It’s a 10 minute walk from the Fresh Pond Reservoir (great for walking around!) and a public golf course. There's also plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and shopping within a 5-10 minute walk.
Provided are two bedrooms. The master BR has a king size bed with a 3" Tempur Pedic mattress topper, large wardrobe, two side tables, a chair, a 50-inch smart TV with cable and a closet. The second BR has two single beds (one with a 2" mattress topper), bureau, desk, side table, lounge chair, and a 32" smart TV with cable.
The bathroom has a tub/shower, sink and a bidet-toilet.
The kitchen has a table which seats three, large refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender, and coffee maker. It is equipped with everything you will need for cooking!
The living room has seating for five with a 3-seat couch and two chairs, a and a 55-inch smart TV with cable, stereo cabinet, and Carrom table game.
The dining room is filled with antique furniture -- a table which sits four, a wine cabinet and a large side table.
The den has a fireplace, 2-seat couch, and a large desk.
The back porch has a table with seating for four, two additional chairs, and a barbecue. It overlooks a fenced yard with pretty shrubs.
In the basement is a fitness room with a StairMaster, stationary bike, multi-weight station, free weights, bench, arm curling station and a 36-inch smart TV with cable.
There is also a washer and dryer in the basement.
You will find my home attractive, clean, functional, and well-kept up. I hope to have you stay here!

Older home, quiet street, off street parking & nice host.
The property was as advertised & the host was friendly and helpful when we had questions. He mostly works from home so was there almost all of the time we were there, which was not an issue for us. Our bedroom was comfortable and we had access to other living areas although we spent little time there. The host provided a VERY detailed manual prior to arrival which helped us understand his expectations about staying there.
Two things to note: There is no AC so you need to either keep the windows and door open or request a fan. Also, in case you are not animal friendly, he has two cats that will visit your bedroom if you leave the door open.

I am glad that Bill enjoyed his day here. Since his visit, I have been providing air conditioners throughout the house, including in the bedrooms, during the warmer months of June, July, August, and September.

The property was clean and comfortable within walking distance to bus to train station.
This was the first time we have stayed at a HomeAway and didn't know how it would be. The room was comfortable and spacious with a television. The shared bathroom was clean and worked out fine. We had use of the kitchen where we had our breakfast and could have cooked if we chose. We could have watched TV one evening in the living room with the owner, but we were tired. The owner was friendly, nice and accommodating. We were in the area to visit relatives who live not far from there which made it convenient for us. We were also there to visit Boston and were able to use Uber, taxi, bus or my daughter for transportation to various sites. While the location might not be ideal for those just there to go to Boston, the price, I'm sure, is less than Boston. Harvard Square is only 10 minutes away on the bus. There are restaurants not far as well. The only downside was that the cat box was under the kitchen table.

I'm happy that my guests' first experience using HomeAway was a good one staying at my place! One note on my location, in relationship to Boston... For people who do not have a car, a trip into Boston via public transportation, catching a bus which is a 5-minute walk from my house, and then switching to the subway in Harvard Square (a 10-minute trip), is about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on where you want to land in the city. If you have a car, you can be in downtown in 12 minutes. Regarding my cats' litter box, I change it regularly so it does not smell.
We had our own transportation and this property worked out great. Quick and clear communication with the owner throughout. House was clean and in a quiet neighborhood

The home was just as described...very room clean and the host is friendly.
The home is well maintained with adequate space and easy access. The parking was simple. The bedroom was comfortable and very quiet. The bathroom was clean with a great shower. Mont was friendly and accommodating--also very kind to my daughter and our pet. I would highly recommend staying here while in Boston. It is convenient and safe and comfortable. One comment when you drive there....be sure you put BELMONT, MA into the GPS and NOT Boston< MA as there is a Clarendon Street in downtown Boston and you might go to the wrong place like I did. This was NOT the owner's fault but rather mine.

Comfortable quiet home
We really enjoyed our stay with Mont in Belmont. He was a great host providing us with sights to see as well as engaging conversations.
The home is very nice with beautiful woodwork and great art. The king size bed was quite comfortable and much appreciated after long days of walking in Boston. A short walk to the bus made our travel easy as well.

Mont is the perfect host!!
My son and I stayed at Mont's flat during Head of Charles regatta weekend. Only 5 minutes to river! Extremely quiet and safe neighborhood. House is beautiful and Mont makes you feel right at home. Pictures are exactly as the property looks. You can use kitchen and den if you choose. We walked 3 blocks to excellent neighborhood restaurants for dinners (inexpensive for Boston). Park in driveway.
HIGHLY recommend!!!

Cozy house, comfortable room, very friendly owner
I made last second plans to visit Boston for 6 nights, and it was recommended to me to find a place along the route of the 73 bus in Belmont since it would combine a beautiful neighborhood with easy access to everything I'd want to visit in Boston. Mont's place did not disappoint, with the nearest bus station being 5 minutes away, and a 45 minute bus + subway ride to anything and everything downtown.
His house exudes a warmth and coziness from the first moment you're in it. It's beautifully decorated, and the wood and color tones all around the house make you feel comfortable and at ease. Mont himself is an very friendly and helpful host, making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, and following up quickly with any issues. The house was in impeccable state cleanliness wise. Wi-fi access was good enough for me to enjoy some Netflix during downtime, so another plus there.
I stayed in the bedroom with the single bed, which also features a desk if you need a work area. The bed was comfortable, and didn't feel cramped at all. There's plenty of light coming in during the day, but you have privacy.
There's a shared bathroom which he makes a point of using as little as possible and leaving it for the guests to use, and I never had to wait. Shower's water pressure is a plus too.
Mont's 2 cats also live there: they're extremely friendly, and follow instructions well.
The neighborhood was very pretty and quiet, and felt safe. That and the very easy access to public transportation as well as the number of shops and eateries within walking distance made for a very nice choice.
Mont provided me with a 12-page document listing house rules as well as explaining where everything is and how to use any and all appliances around the house. You can brew your own coffee, cook, even wash and dry your clothes with everything provided, so that was nice. The length of the document might seem intimidating at first but I appreciated the robustness, it's supposed to cover everything you need even during times of the year when he's not at home, and has other useful tips such as where to rent a bike from since Boston really offers itself to people that like to ride with bike lanes and signs on how to get to parts of the city using them.
All in all, I was very happy with my stay, and I'd consider staying here again if I find myself in town. Mont is a pleasure to have as a host, and his house provided for me very well while I was there.

lovely stay
We were in the Boston area recently to visit our daughter and her family in Watertown, which is why we were looking to stay in Belmont, and it worked out well. The traffic in Belmont is light by comparison to Cambridge, where we stayed last time, and parking much easier to manage.
Mont supplied a complete written description of everything we needed to know well ahead of time, and it was all exactly as he had outlined, as was the homeaway listing.
The duplex is on a quiet street, with off street parking, and we felt totally safe. The neighborhood reminded us a lot of where we used to live in South Minneapolis.
As we were in nearby Watertown a lot we ate most of our meals there. I can recommend the Ash Reshteh soup at Molana's Persian Restaurant, and the Ixtapa Mexican restaurant had good food, though it was crowded and service slow. I also recommend La Casa De Pedro across from Watertown Mall, which has delicious food, and outdoor patio dining under the trees, as well as a beautiful dining room indoors.
There are also some places to shop and eat nearby the duplex. We enjoyed the Irish pub on Belmont Street; the hamburgers and sweet potato fries were great, and they had excellent Guinness on draft.
Star Mkt. provides all you need in the way of food, and Mont's kitchen is totally supplied with implements for cooking and eating. There is a gas range, but it was free of any gas fumes. We ate most meals sitting at the small table on the back porch, which was very pleasant, and cooler than indoors.
The weather was hot while we were there and the duplex is not air-conditioned, but there are numerous fans, which made it comfortable for sleeping if you put a fan in the window. We didn't spend much time there in the daytime, anyway. We like historic sites, and the Longfellow House and Mt. Auburn Cemetery are nearby, both very interesting to tour. We took the train into Boston to walk the Freedom Trail, and drove to Quincy to the Adams National Historic Park, which was very worthwhile. You can take the train there, also.
The duplex is very clean, and tastefully furnished, which always makes me enjoy my stay more.
Mont was out of the country but supplied his cell phone number and kept in touch with us. There was a slight mix-up with the person we turned the key in to (she got the key confused with her mail and didn't see it), but that was cleared up okay.
We enjoyed our stay very much, and I would recommend it.

Nice air B&B located in a safe and friendly family neighborhood
My husband and I enjoyed staying at this air B&B. Mont was on a trip during our stay but was easily contacted when needed. Mont's home is very comfortable, clean, and cozy. The listing of suggestions he sent to us before our arrival were helpful to us during our week's stay. The location of this home is good. There is easy access to Boston with public transportation a few walking minutes away. Upon our arrival, we discovered that there was no air conditioning. Mont assured us that we would be comfortable with the fans running and screened windows left open. This was the case.
We would indeed recommend this property to friends or relatives visiting Boston and surrounding areas.

PERFECT! A great and quiet location
A GREAT location for getting to all things Cambridge and easy access to the Charles River. A wonderfully quiet street with a Super Market right nearby. My host was most accommodating and there was parking off the street. I would recommend the location to a friend. The house was clean and well-maintained and just as depicted.
