Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

Recently remodeled, cozy, comfortable furniture and beds. 1/2 block off Harrison Ave. (mainstreet) means an easy walk to dining and shopping! In the morning, head up to City on a Hill coffee shop and get caffeinated for a day of mountain fun! Our large front deck is a great spot to lounge in the sun with a cold beer at the end of a full day, meet people or just watch the world go by. Large back deck has great mountain views, gas bbq, and direct southern exposure. In the winter, walk to dinner or grab a movie in any kind of weather! The house is close enough to downtown resturants that the cold mountain air won't even have time to sink in before you are sitting down to a nice steak! Watch the snow fall from the big picture window in the living room. Make family memories playing games and cooking dinner in our newly remodeled and fully stocked kitchen. We left a few Victorian details, like original stained glass and the one dining room wall that depicts the original wood from 1888 when the house was built! The house once had 4 coal buring stoves~the old chiminies remain, but the house is now heated with trusty forced air! In the remodel, we found old sewing patterns stuffed in the walls for insulation and cigarette boxes hidden up in the bathroom, both of which are on display in the house.

About Jason

Jaycie works as a nurse and Jason a biologist. We moved to Colorado from California to experience the magic of the Rocky mountains and the quality of life that is possible here. We love loading the baby up in her sled and cross country skiing in the winter. In the summer, we love to explore alpine lakes, meadows, and all the historic mining sites. Riding bikes though the aspens or just relaxing on the porch with our friends and neighbors makes summer time here in Leadville hard to beat. .

Jason purchased this house in 2009

Why Jason chose South Central

We were drawn to Leadville by its unpretentious style, the amazing views in all directions, the rugged beauty and town history, its proximity to world class ski areas, and of course Denver.. We love that our house is IN the mountains...all we have to do is walk out the door and we are surrounded by public lands.

What makes this house unique

We also love the convenience of being based right in town! Our street is quiet, yet we can pop into town without getting in our car in a hot second! We love sleeping on the back deck under the stars and relaxing on the front deck after a full day of outdoor activities. Jason loves the big kitchen sink and granite counter tops, and Jaycie loves the good water pressure in the shower!

Nice location, decent accommodations

  • 4 of 5

This place is within walking distance of some great shops and restaurants. There is a pool and hot tub about 5 minutes away at the aquatic center. Queen for my wife and I, double for my son & my daughter slept on the couch. Everything nice.. Not luxury, but clean and solid. Good value and would stay there again! Thanks

Quaint, warm, plenty of room.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed three nights while skiing at Cooper and Copper. Couple with 3 kids, 11, 8 and 2. Plenty of room for us. 11 yr old daughter took the guest bedroom, 8 yr old son slept on living room sofa and the 2 yr old with us. Porches and walkways were cleared of snow, in both the front and back yards. Parking space directly in front of home and another in back was very convenient. Walking distance to everything downtown, including the National Mining Museum. Clean house, well equipped, had everything we needed. Really enjoyed our stay. Great value for the money.

Nice accommodations for the money

  • 4 of 5

This was our first experience booking a house on home away. It was all positive for us. Beats staying in a motel. We loved the amenities: dishwasher, laundry, DVD player, full kitchen, gas outdoor grill. It felt like we were staying in a home. My wife and I were here with four of our children. We were in Colorado for a ski/snowboard trip to Copper Mountain. The accommodations definitely made our stay more pleasurable and memorable. The owners respond quickly to all inquiries.

Charm of Leadville

  • 5 of 5

Location and description were spot on. The neighbor to the right allowed me to borrow a wine opener. Otherwise the place has everything you need including a WD. Thank you Jason for the nice experience
