Picture yourself in gorgeous Ludlow, Vermont, the home of Okemo Mountain for the holidays, vacations or a weekend getaway. This fantastic house has been specifically updated to cater to large groups. Terrific in-town location on Okemo Shuttle Route. Hop on the bus right outside your door to Okemo Mountain. Location offers something for everyone. 1/2 Mile shuttle ride to Okemo Mountain, short walk to town to many fine restaurants, pubs and stores or venture nearby for all Vermont has to offer.

The Base Lodge has everything your group needs to have a good time!

Notes:

Wildlife: You may see wildlife including deer, coyotes, foxes, and bears. Please be mindful of your surroundings and leaving out food and trash.

Weather: In the winter, there will be snow, ice, and occasional snowstorms. We recommend driving a vehicle with AWD or 4WD. Please drive with caution and be prepared with regards to the ability of your vehicle to drive in the snow.

Air conditioning: There are four very large window units to cool all common areas of the house on both the first and second floors. Nights are typically much cooler and window fans are provided for all bedrooms for your comfort.

We loved staying here and Diana was a great host! The space fits large groups comfortably. We mainly went to snowboard/ski and loved how close we were to the slopes (not even a 5 minute drive). Definitely will come back!

Base Lodge - March 2023

Our 2nd stay here and it was just as fabulous as the first. Clean, huge kitchen with more than enough plate ware, pots/pans and kitchen gizmos and a dining room large enough for a banquet. Highly recommend!

College reunion

We used this property for our college reunion, including both kids and adults. It was the perfect space! Lots of areas to just hang out and ample sleeping space. The yard was fantastic and the location can’t be beat. We walked to the farmers market and the kids enjoyed the park across the street. Highly recommended!!

Great communication. The house had everything we needed, including a well-stocked kitchen. Plenty of room for our 16 guests - huge kitchen table and multiple living rooms. Very close to restaurants/bars (walkable, although quite cold in winter) and Okemo (less than 5 min to Clocktower). If you're looking for a 5-star/high end rental, this isn't for you. However, if you're looking for a clean house with everything you'd need for a great vacation with a ton of family and friends, at a reasonable price, this is your rental. We will likely be back in the future and have already recommended it to friends.

As advertised and with Covid limiting dining out options, the huge well-equipped kitchen (2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, enough dishware and cutlery to feed a small army) was a real plus. Owner communication was outstanding. This stay was worth a repeat!

Great extended weekend

We have a group which tries to get away to Vermont once a year. This was actually our second stay at the Base Lodge (first was in 2022). The property has plentiful accommodation and a great interior space just a short walk from central Ludlow. We also appreciate the quiet back yard amenities at the Lodge. The owners were very responsive during our stay, answering questions promptly and keeping track of our needs. We would definitely stay again.

Easter stay

A large group of 10 adults and 12 kids ranging from 1 to 14 stayed at the lodge over Easter. The house had a fully equipped kitchen (including 2 dishwashers, 2 ovens and 2 fridges) that allowed us to cook multiple meals and easily clean afterwards. The house is centrally located and we could walk to restaurants, shops and the grocery stores. The hot tub and the pool table provided ample entertainment to the extend that the kids didn't even watch TV. Thank you very much for hosting us!

Perfect Family Reunion House!

We hosted a large family reunion recently and this house was perfect! It is well furnished with plenty of space to spread out and for multiple conversations and activities to be ongoing simultaneously. The location is great with a lot to do and see within easy driving distance. The proximity to groceries, etc. is a big plus! Diane and Jeff, the homeowners, were wonderful and easy to work with. Great place for a big group

We were a group of 14 adults, 13 kids and 1 dog. Base lodge was big enough to accommodate us comfortably. Kitchen and dining room was spacious and well stocked. All the appliances were great! Its walking distance to downtown and shaws which was useful. Overall we had a great time at the base lodge. One thing that we missed is an exhaust in the kitchen. We had to open a few windows every time we cooked which made it cold. Also a minor issue was that the wifi range was pretty limited.

Lifetime memories

Base Lodge surpassed our expectations. The size and layout of the lodge is ideal for a large group. The three spaced apart common areas gave everyone an area to enjoy in smaller groups. The dining room comfortably seated all of us. The size of the kitchen lends itself to several people cooking at once. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, playground across the street and nearby skiing. We hope Base Lodge becomes an annual tradition.

Fabulous Stay!

Diane's place in Ludlow is spacious and beautiful, in an ideal location in the town of Ludlow! Easy walking to restaurants, grocery, bars and a very short drive to the ski resort. The place has a beautiful backyard and patio area (love the hot tub) and indoors has a very spacious dining area. Pool, Shuffleboard, foozball, etc were all hits! Thanks again and we'll look to come back for ski season / another summer weekend :)

Jeff and Diane Knuth, owners of the Getaway and the Clubhouse purchased the Base Lodge in 2015. Our family grew up skiing at Okemo. We are thrilled to share our home with you so you can experience all there is to see and do in Ludlow and the surrounding area.

Why they chose this property

From the moment we saw this house we loved it. Formerly known as the Trojan Horse Hostel, this home was in desperate need of some TLC. We have spent the year renovating it from top to bottom to return it to its former glory. We hope you will love our home as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

Over 4000 sf of great space for everyone to enjoy. Perfect for large groups. Three separate living rooms all with SMART TVs, a dining room with seating for everyone, Kitchen with 2 DW, 2 Fridges and a double oven, Handicap accessible (with ramp and roll-in shower) and great yard with a fire pit. Ski shuttle stops right outside our door in winter. Large driveway that can fit 10 cars.
