About the property

Relaxation and Fun!

Plan your perfect getaway here, in Elk Neck, approximately eight miles south of the town of North East, MD.

We have a unique property here, along the Elk River, set back in a quiet cove, with creeks on each side and a beautiful view of the River.

Watch the Eagles and Osprey soaring above the creek looking for their next meal! There are also plenty of Blue Heron, Geese, and Ducks. In the evenings, you may see deer playing along the shoreline.

The home is completely furnished and includes a fully-stocked kitchen- you just need to bring the food!

We have all the linens and towels you will need and plenty of blankets and pillows, too, and all beds are freshly made prior to your arrival, so you don't need to do a thing!

We love our Guests and I just want to say a huge "Thank You!!" to everyone who has chosen to stay here at The Woods and thank you for all of your Guestbook entries and Online Reviews (and if you never got around to leaving one here, it's never too late!). You all are so awesome!!! As you all know, Gene and Steve and I, work so hard here and it has been such a blessing to have had such wonderful Guests who treat our home as their own and to just see how much fun you have here, is just the best and makes all of our hard work so worth it!! And, incase any of you are reading this, the bridge is finally fixed and it's great!! Now it will be so much faster to get to Turkey Point for that beautiful walk to the Lighthouse!

Thank you for checking out our page! Can't wait to meet you (or welcome you back again! and again!!)

About Kim

Hello! :) I'm Kim and I am married to Steve. I own this rental property with my brother, Gene.

Steve and I have 4 kids; ages 28, 23, 21, and 16. Steve is a Systems Engineer, who runs his own business, plus has a part-time job as well in computers. In his "spare" time, he keeps the books (QuickBooks!) for our vacation properties and also mows a lot of grass & cleans all the propane grills between Guests!!!! I manage our vacation homes, doing the advertising & marketing (updating this site, taking photos, keeping track of bookings). I do all the cleaning (tons of laundry, bed-making & bathroom cleaning!), furnishing & decorating, and keeping up with all the paperwork and paying all the bills on time. My most important job is communicating with our amazing Guests through texts, emails and phone calls; I guide them in planning their vacation and promptly answer any questions, and on arrival day, we greet our Guests and show them around the property (their house, the river & kayaks), ensuring they feel "at home" at their "home away from home". We have been told our hospitality is "second to none", which is the highest compliment, and I know it is because we truly love what we do and when you love what you do, it shows!! In our spare time, we love kayaking on the Elk River. When we get a day away, we love a trip to Rehoboth Beach!

...

Gene is a super-hard worker, both with his own Masonry business (working 6 & 7 days a week) and here on the property in his "spare" time. He is the one who takes care of the dirt lane and all the maintenance work around here, for the property itself plus all the homes. This is a huge job and he's on top of it! He has one son who is 22. Gene enjoys being on the water in his bass boat. He also loves deep-sea fishing and traveling to Chincoteague Island.

Kim purchased this mobile home in 2012

Why Kim chose North East

Our Great-Grandfather bought this property because it was his favorite fishing spot! This beautiful property has been in our family since 1918 when our Grandfather moved here from NY with his parents; he was 5 years old. He grew up here, then our Dad grew up here, and then Gene and I grew up and now our own kids have grown up here!

...

When we were growing up, our Grandparents rented the property for summer rentals and those are our favorite childhood memories, so we are so excited to be bringing that back! We love sharing this unique little cove along the Elk River- it is unique as there is not quite anywhere like it that I have seen! It is truly special!

What makes this mobile home unique

Kayaking... just being out on the water, especially on a quiet evening, watching the Bald Eagles fly overhead, Osprey hovering mid-air and then diving down to grab a fish from the water, seeing the families of Geese and Mallards, Blue Heron and once in awhile a white one, lots of different birds, fish jumping, gentle waves, a warm breeze, maybe deer playing, or fox, or raccoon walking along the shoreline... this is why I love this property. It is so peaceful and serene - good for the mind and the soul!!

A Quiet hidaway

  • 5 of 5

This place is a hidden gem! Tucked away in the woods along the Elk river and yet only a 10 minute drive to North East and Elkton. Steve and Kim are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet and work very hard to make sure their renters are happy. The kitchen is very well stocked, the washer and dryer are huge and there is plenty of space to store your things. It's very quiet at night and there's plenty of wildlife to be seen when sitting by the creek. The Glasgow Regional Park at Routes 40 & 896 is about a 20 minute drive away and has a two and a half mile paved walking and bike riding trail, playgrounds for the kids and 2 off leash doggy play areas. So many rentals along the Chesapeake are too big for just 2 people and we really appreciated the cosier size of this one and it's very budget friendly price. Highly recommended!

It is a clean and spacious modular home

  • 3 of 5

This is a nice option to use as a hub for other adventurers: hunting, fishing, hiking and sight seeing. This is family owned proprty in which extended family lives on the shared property. The owners are helpful and provide many board games for a rainy day. Unfortunately the time frame we visited the water was low and didn't allow for easy canoeing/kayaking for our kids, which is what we were particularly interested in. We enjoyed visiting Haver De Grace, which has good restaurants, low cost museums and shopping.

Excellent weekend trip!

  • 5 of 5

I was setting up a weekend trip for myself and some friends, and stumbled across this property in North East. The description and scenic pictures made it easy enough for me to commit immediately. I messaged and spoke to the property owner, Kim, several times before the trip weekend. She was very friendly, quick to respond, and offered any information and help that I requested. Upon arrival, we were excited to see everything exactly the way it was described. Kim greeted us with the same hospitality that she showed over the phone, and even left us cookies! We had an excellent weekend at this home away from home, and we will certainly return to one of Kim's properties in future!

Many thanks Kim!

Sean

Great Place for a Family with Young Children

  • 5 of 5

With young children, this was a great secluded place to stay with a backyard view of the river and access to paddle boats and kayaks. We loved it. And the owner, Kim, put a lot of thought into making our stay a welcoming and pleasant experience.
