About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Huge Loft, 4 Full Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Welcome to Pine View Manor! At first sight, Pine View Manor looks like a Thomas Kinkade painting--cozy, warm, secluded, inviting and surrounded by flowers and trees. When you walk in, you'll be amazed at the soaring wood ceilings, stone fireplace, and feeling of spaciousness. Most of the 3,700-square-foot cabin front is built into the ridge of the mountain, so there's plenty of room to relax and enjoy the incredible, year-round views of mountains in Georgia and as far as Tennessee!

Pine View Manor is a perfect cabin getaway for a large family reunion, yet it's cozy and charming enough for a romantic getaway for two.

The main floor has a kitchen, living room, master bedroom, master bath, guest bedroom, guest bathroom, and utility room. All the floors are yellow pine, except for the berber carpet in the guest room.

You'll first notice the huge stone woodburning fireplace that is the centerpiece of the first floor living area. Relax in a luxury leather sofa with dual recliners, or the matching leather recliner that holds you like a glove. Watch DISH satellite TV on the flatscreen next to the fireplace while you put your feet up and enjoy the incredible view of long-range mountain ridges from the living room windows. Or, put in a movie from the DVD collection in the leather bench under the TV.

There is a high-speed wireless broadband router connected to the Internet with fiber optic lines to the cabin, so it's fast and easy to go online during your stay.

The kitchen is open to the living room, so you can cook or make drinks while sharing the company of your family and friends. This is a great kitchen with granite countertops and granite island with curved mountain benches, custom cherry cabinets and a gas stove with self-cleaning oven. Enjoy a drink with ice-in-the door fridge, and plenty of place settings for all the great food you can enjoy indoors or outside on the huge main deck.

The large first floor master suite is 16'x19' and has a great wood beamed ceiling, wood floors, flat screen satellite TV, and comfy pillowtop queen bed. There is also a huge walk-in closet. The master bath has a garden tub (big enough for two!) with leaded glass window, dual vanities and step-in shower stall.

The living room and master bedroom open onto a 12'x 32' deck with a cedar swing, great reclining cedar and oak adirondack chairs, plus a cafe table for an intimate glass of wine while you watch magnificent sunsets over the mountains.

The main floor guest room has an antique iron bed, vaulted wood ceiling, berber carpet, and cozy recliner and reading table that is perfect for curling up with a good book. The main floor guest bath is next to the guest bedroom for en suite convenience.

A spacious laundry room has a full-size stacked washer and dryer. Detergent and softener are provided for your convenience.

Upstairs is a huge loft--18'x25' --that is totally built of wood. It has its own sofa and chairs for convening or playing games on a separate game TV. The loft has a vaulted wood ceiling that enhances the feeling of spaciousness, and three double beds with cabin quilts. The full loft bath has a great little clawfoot tub with shower attachment, and a skylight.

The mountain view from the upper loft deck is incredible! Wood floors, walls and ceilings really make the loft a great room, and the cabin decor with antler fan and lights, and rustic quilts complete the ambiance.

Downstairs is the second master bedroom that is a roomy 20'x24' with a 150-year-old brass bed with double pillowtop mattress, sofa, desk, bookcase with a selection of reading material, berber carpet, and private entrance to a large patio. There is also a TV in this bedroom that can be used for games or movies. The fourth full bath is en suite to the master on this level. There is a $10 per night additional fee if you want the lower level; if not, it is closed off for your stay.

The parking area in front of the cabin is large enough for several cars, boat or RV, and the 2.5 wooded acres at the end of a short road with only five other cabins ensures privacy along with convenience. Smoking is allowed on the decks or front porch, but not in the cabin. A firepit with long log benches has been added in the back of the cabin, surrounded by woods. There is a small fenced enclosure off the downstairs patio for a dog, or you can let your dog roam if it stays within the general area.

The location of the cabin is about half-way between Blairsville and Murphy, NC, and there's a dollar store and gas station just one mile from the cabin. If you run out of something or forget to bring your toothbrush, all the necessities are just down the road.

You'll find a guest book with brochures about some of the great area attractions and things to do--from a day trip to Biltmore Estates to white water rafting on the Nantlahala.

Nottely Dam and Lake are only a few minutes away for swimming, fishing or boating, plus you're close to either Blairsville, GA, or Murphy, NC, for restaurants, movies and shopping. Ideal area for hiking, boating, rafting, tubing, zip lining, exploring, or just relaxing and enjoying the view.

Please read the rate information notes; unfortunately, this website currently has limitations on rate information so the 'quotable rate' feature may vary from the actual rate. The base rate applies to the first two people, and an additional $10 per person per night is added. No discount for children. During October and all national holidays, the base rate starts at $150. Cleaning fees and the refundable security deposit are based on number of guests and length of stay. The security deposit is paid thru VRBO and refunded thru VRBO within 7 days of departure unless there are unauthorized guests/pets, damage not covered by renters insurance, or excessive cleaning is needed. There is a 3% credit card transaction fee when booking. No cats allowed. One or two dogs allowed with prior Owner approval. Pet fee is $10 per pet per night, plus the cleaning service charges an additional $25 minimum for guests with pets.

About Debra Hilgeman

I've lived in Gulfport, MS, for more than 20 years and own several historic properties here that are annual rentals. I do a lot of the renovation work myself, so appreciate craftsmanship and quality. My main job, however, is market researcher for the gaming industry so I get to do some traveling. My Mom is 89-years-young and spends part of the year with me and summers at her home in Ohio. We travel with a Doberman and a Cocker Spaniel, so road trips are usually more interesting than we plan.

Debra Hilgeman purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Debra Hilgeman chose Northeast Mountains

After losing almost everything during Hurricane Katrina in Gulfport, MS, I was visiting a friend in Blairsville and knew this was where I wanted to live. I found the perfect cabin and was ready to move, but it just hasn't worked out yet. I love coming to the cabin and going to the many, many festivals that are held throughout the region. No matter where you decide to go, the joy is in the journey around here. The views are jawdroppingly beautiful, people are friendly, and it just gives one a sense of calm and well-being.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin is great because it's not too far off the 'beaten path' but you feel like you're totally away from all the city stress and congestion. The cabin has such a warm, comfortable feeling but it's so spacious that you don't ever feel claustrophobic. I've hosted large get-togethers here for family and friends and there's plenty of room for everyone. Mom and I also love relaxing in the living room with a roaring wood fire and just melting into the great new leather reclining sofa and chair in front of the TV.

A very enjoyable experience

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I and our dogs travelled to the area looking for possible retirement properties. Our stay in this cabin was very enjoyable. It is conveniently located to Blairsville and other localities. We only used the main floor because there were just two of us, but it would be comfortable for a larger group. I went upstairs once because the screen door there was banging in the wind, and it appeared to be a great space (dormitory style) for additional guests. It would be great space for kids to share.

Debra was extremely pleasant to work with. You cannot go wrong with this property.

Good.

The cabin was very attractive and comfortable. It offered nice views off the two decks and for those staying inside fast internet service and a large screen tv with cable inside.

My friends and I took a trip up to Georgia before we had to go back to school and it was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The property was the last one on the hill so it was nice and private. My friends and I had a group of seven and we all fit comfortably. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend it to anyone looking! Miss Debra was also extremely easy and nice to work with in renting the cabin!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great review. You had some January snow and cold weather during your stay but there's no better place to be in that kind of weather than in a cabin in the woods with a huge fire blazing. Hope to see you again!

Beautiful home Im Blairsville, Ga

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently took a long weekend to hike and see the beautifu fall foliage in the North Ga Mountains. The cabin is awesome. Beautiful views from both large porches. Very quiet and secluded, but close to all that the area offers. Very close to Vogel State Park which is absolutely fantastic. Close to the Applachian trail, a short drive to Helen, and of course the new casino in Murpy North Carolina. The master bedroom is huge and there is a secone bedroom that is very quaint. The upstairs loft has three beds up there which would be great for families with kids. Lots to do and big enough for a group. There is also a section of the house that was locked off to us that seemed to have another bedroom and sitting area. This would be great for a large family reunion or just a group of friends that wanted their own space. Anyway long story short this was a great place to stay and hopefully will be back again.Very easy booking arrangements through VRBO. Thankyou Deborah for letting us stay at your home and hopefully we will get to visit again.!!

Owner's Response: I agree that Fall this year was truly beautiful. I stopped to spend the night at the cabin right after you left while I was on a long road trip. For smaller groups like yours I do close off the second huge master suite downstairs and open it for larger groups. It's cozy for a couple and spacious for large get-togethers. I hope to see you again and bring all your friends!

Wonderful cabin great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time. The cabin is beyond spacious, clean, and has everything we could need for a comfortable week in the smokies! The location was a perfect drive for time in Blue Ridge as well as the Murphy area. So much great hiking and fishing and apple picking close by! The view from the deck on the cabin is picture perfect. Fantastic sunsets. Dealing with Debra was so easy, she responds so quickly and was very accommodating. Absolutely wonderful vacation. Thank you!

Owner's Response: I'm so happy you had a great getaway at my cabin. I agree that the location is one of the best benefits. I like being close to everything the area has to offer, yet being on the end of a little deadend lane makes it seems like you're in the middle of nowhere. I hope to see you next time!

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and property is absolutely beautiful. I loved all the wood in the cabin. Being the last cabin on the road was very private. We enjoyed being out on the back porch every night. I definitely will come again.
