About this property

Holly Bush Cottage is a classic home with a major remodel in 2016 and a new kitchen in 2021. A great place for families to spend a week at the beach. The house features four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a newly remodeled and fully stocked kitchen with a dining area, and a screened-in porch (that is magical on summer evenings). There is an outdoor shower on the back deck and a grill. The living room has a large flat-screen TV and the house has ultra high-speed internet (500+ Mbps) with excellent WiFi.

The house is located on a quiet family-oriented street just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Rehoboth and Dewey. It's a quick walk to the beach (2.5 blocks) and to the restaurants and other attractions of Dewey Beach. Rehoboth and the boardwalk are a short bike ride or drive (20-minute walk). The famous Rehoboth Outlets are minutes away by car on Coastal Highway. Please note: we only offer seven-night rentals during the summer and two or more nights during fall, winter and spring.

Nice bungalow with plenty of parking

Nice bungalow walking distance to beach. Loved the screened in porch! Kitchen well stocked. Owner communicated promptly!

Great Older Home

Lovely older home w/ hardwood floors; updated, very-well stocked kitchen. Bathrooms, kitchen & floors were very clean. Nice neighborhood on the West side of Highway 1A. Lovely screened-in porch.

Great beach house

This is a wonderful beach house with good size rooms, plenty of storage, a nice shady back yard, easy walk to the ocean and well stocked kitchen. There is a “twin bed dorm” which is perfect for the kids/ grandkids. The beds in this room are tired but I’m told will be replaced for next season. W had a great time here and will look to return next season!

Good location

The house has a well equipped kitchen and lots of nice touches. It’s located a few blocks from the beach, about a 10 minute walk. I was told I needed to bring sheets and was given the bed sizes, which we brought with us. I was disappointed that I needed to go and purchase bath towels, toilet paper, hand soap and dish soap. I would have thought they would have been provided, even hotels include this. There are a ton of stores within a 15-20 minute drive. Overall, it was a great week- the weather was fabulous!

Great place to stay!

The location is great and it was an easy walk to the town of Dewey and Dewey beach! The house is large and had plenty of space for our family of 6. It was celaan and updated nicely. The back porch was our favorit place! We would definitely stay here again!

We are third generation Holly Bush Cottage owners who live and work in the greater Washington DC area. We have two kids who, like their mother before them, have grown up going to this beach house.

Why they chose this property

Holly Bush Cottage was built in 1960 by Edward and Minna Russell. Edward and Minna moved from the England after WWII with their daughter Patricia. Edward worked as a printer for the Washington Post in DC and traveled every weekend to join Minna at this tranquil oasis. The house passed on to their daughter Patricia in 1992 and to their granddaughter Heather in 2012. Now Heather, her husband Allan and their two kids are the custodians of Edward and Minna's home.

In 2015 the house was picked up and moved ten feet to the right of the property. This freed up a lot which is now occupied by a new home. As part of the move there were significant upgrades including two new bathrooms, a new large screened in porch and deck on back (with a spacious outdoor shower).

What makes this property unique

Rehoboth was named one of the best beach towns in the United States by Travel and Leisure magazine in 2021. Holly Bush Cottage sleeps ten comfortably in four bedrooms. Two queen bedrooms, a two twin bedroom, and a four twin extended-room upstairs. There are two full bathrooms, one per floor, that were replaced in 2016 as part of a major remodel inside and out. There is lots of parking in front and a wonderful secluded screened-in porch in the back that is magical in the evenings. (and 200+ Mbps download speed WiFi!)
