Fabulous location if you want to explore the big trees in and around Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. The cabin was immaculate. Quite simple but tasteful decor. Bed was very comfortable, not too firm or soft. Bare minimum in way of cooking/serving utensils, because space is so limited. We travel w/ some kitchen gear so we did prepare a few simple meals. If we could change anything we'd add a corkscrew and a couple wine glasses .We will stay here again!
We couldn't figure out the HVAC system, so the heater did not work. And the bathroom fan kept turning itself on. Other than that, it was a charming cabin in a great location, and we very much enjoyed our stay.
Our family stayed here for one night on a quick jaunt down from Newport, OR to see the Redwoods in Jedediah Smith Park. The cottage was very comfortable and thoughtfully designed throughout. It looked as if it would be comfortable for longer stays as well.
Beautiful property perfect for a secluded trip to the redwoods
Adorable little cabin right in the redwoods. Close to lots of trails for hiking. Host was responsive and friendly. Perfect place to disconnect. Highly recommend.
Our stay in the redwoods was delightful. The cabin fit our needs perfectly. And there isn’t a much much better way to start the day than a cup of tea on the porch early in the morning in the midst of those wonderful trees.
Well-designed cabin nestled in the woods, very close to Jedediah Smith Park entrance, making it a great location for easy access to the great park trails. PROS: Great location; well-sited so we were not within view of other cabins; newer, clean, well-designed cabin; (Cab 700 is far enough away from road so that road noise is minimal.) CONS: Host didn’t provide check in info and was a bit slow to respond to our question about how to check-in, and it took a full day to get trash pick up and the extra towels we requested. There is no Wi-Fi and our Verizon cell service wasn’t great (never more than “two bars”). We even had trouble using our phone hot spot to access internet, so we found ourselves driving to other locations to use the internet to plan out our days and make & receive phone calls. But this did give us a chance to unhook and unwind in a very peaceful setting. Overall, we enjoyed a wonderful week in the cabin!
Perfect little cabin nestled right in the Redwoods. The cabin was clean, well appointed and close to hiking, the Smith River and Hiouchi Cafe (which has the best breakfast!). Looking forward to another stay at Fern Hook.
Perfect location tucked away just a few minutes from the Redwood Sate Park entrances. The cabin was very clean and perfect for my wife and I. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay somewhere close to the forest and for those who love the outdoors and cabins!

Disliked: Check-in, communication
The place was as advertised, unfortunately I didn't check my emails earlier in the day & so didn't have the keycode to get in! Bit stressful but eventually sorted. Place was nice inside, clean & functional. Dissapointed there is no wifi, television or welcome pack, unsure how I would have contacted the owner if needed.Okay for a short stay to explore the area, sad to see the stumps of great trees that had been felled there.
Fantastic it was remote and set in some woods and was about a half an hour away from the actual redwood forest which was fine. Crescent city was nice. We were able to do some eating there and shopping. And we were able to go to Gold Beach. It was a little shocking not to have a TV and Limited Internet. My grandson and I were actually able to talk and interact with each other, which made it perfect.
The cabin was great. Perfect location for expoloring the red woods. Everything was in great condition. Would definitely recommend to anyone I know visiting the area.
We wanted to stay one night in the woods and we started up north and worked our way south through the parks. This was a great starting point and nice, clean place!
