Beautiful view of Lake Champlain
Great property with backyard lake access for kayaking and swimming. House was clean, had a big great room with beautiful lake views. Well-stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds. We enjoyed our stay. :-)

Wonderful family vacation
Our family had a wonderful time at this spacious and well-maintained home on Lake Champlain. The views from the house are amazing. We watched the sun rise and set from various locations in the house or outside. We launched our lounger from the dock. The children fished and the adults relaxed, often in the hammock! The thoughtful details that have been put into this rental made our stay a pleasure. Everything from beach towels, children's toys, band aids to DVDs, books of all kinds made it a comfy spot to relax and play for a week. All the adults went to Montreal for a day taking turns watching the four children and two dogs that we had with us. The children were delighted with swimming, lawn games, playing in the loft and just having fun. Bring water shoes and bug spray. Water shoes since the beach is a bit rocky and bug spray because it is summertime. Eat out on the deck every evening and catch the Lippizaners show at Knight's Point Park if they are on the islands for the summer. Lovely vacation that our family will remember for years to come. Thank you for accommodating our family.
Beautiful lake house in a quiet area. The house is well maintained and clean. The layout and size of the house is ideal for multiple families vacationing together. An easy drive to Burlington and Montreal. The outdoor area is private and very relaxing. Wonderful views of the lake. The pictures displayed accurately reflect what the property has to offer. I would recommend bringing bulk grocery items with you however there is a little market with essentials on the island with excellent homemade fudge. I would recommend highly recommend this property.
Tracy, Thank you very much for choosing our home! I'm so happy you all enjoyed yourselves. Please come back to the Islands soon! And YES, the Harborside Market fudge is delicious!
Great for large group
Our extended family wanted to spend a few days relaxing in Vermont after gathering from Minneapolis, New York City, two Vermont towns, and Australia. This property was a perfect choice. Since the group ranged in age from 2-74, we had a variety of interests and needs to meet. We brought bikes and canoes, so we could pedal around the island and paddle as long as we wanted. Dock was nice and was improved by the owner during our stay. Enough flat yard for ball games. State park was nearby for a sandy beach outing. Plenty of sleeping area. Adequate kitchen, though we had to repair a broken refrigerator shelf. Because Isle LaMotte has no grocery store, we carried in all of our food for the vacation; lots of groceries and we still ended up with two drives to Swanton. Long waterfront meant we had privacy and quiet during our stay. All of the family asked to return again in the future!
Thank you so much for choosing our place & also for your lovely review! (New fridge drawers on the way! Thanks for letting me know.)
Hope to have you & yours back again soon!
Perfect family getaway
We could not have been any happier with our experience at this beautiful lakefront house in Isle La Motte. The house and location exceeded all our expectations. We were traveling with two little ones and were so surprised to find all the great toys and children's books. We all enjoyed relaxing on the hammock, walking the fruit orchards, swimming in the lake and fishing on the dock. Our daughter caught her first fish and it was a memory that will last a life time. The large deck was a picturesque spot for family breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The sunsets were an exclamation point to each perfect day. We loved it, and hope we go back for many years to come. Autumn was excellent to work with prior to the trip. She answered all our questions promptly and checked in during the trip to be sure everything was going smoothly. Truly a 5 star getaway to Northern New England.
Joe! Thank you for your thoughtful review & for choosing our home for your Lake Champlain stay. I'm so happy your family enjoyed the lake. I loved seeing the photo of your little girl catching her first fish right off the dock. A fantastic family memory, to be sure.
Please come back again soon!
Beautiful House, Beautiful Lake
My family (wife, mother, stepfather, sister, Charlie our dog) and I had the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house at the end of August 2014. We had never been to this part of the U.S. It was a beautiful drive up from New York City. Coming from the south Isle La Motte is one of the more remote Champlain Islands and you have to cross multiple causeways. While the area is remote it is certainly not wilderness. On the other hand, it is not a place where you can drive a couple of miles and easily find a place to eat or buy groceries.
The house has a great layout and it is perfect for the type of family trip we imagined. The large 1st floor living space and the open kitchen make for a perfect shared experience. The house has all the necessities and more in abundance. It doesn't have cable TV. For some of us this was a surprise.
The property is right on the lake and going out on the deck and catching the breeze and the sun shining off the lake was a favorite thing to do. The deck was also the site for a memorable barbecue.
We did some fun things while there: renting kayaks and rowboats, hiking around the Mt. Stowe area (admittedly a bit of a drive), eating out at the local restaurants (good if not great cooking).
We were a bit disappointed by the lack of local farmer's markets and fresh produce, but perhaps, we didn't know where to go.
All in all, while the area didn't WOW us; our consensus was the house and its comforts were GREAT and for that reason I've given 5 stars.
Thank you for your thoughtful review!
I wanted to address a few of the valid points made in this review:
Regarding the TV set up -- We will have a Roku set up available this season, making it easier for families to enjoy movies and TV shows together.
Regarding fresh produce -- Vermont has bountiful fresh produce available during the summer months, including at least 2 weekly farmers' markets and a 2 well-maintained serve-yourself farm stands within a short drive. For the 2015 season, I will be sure to provide the details of when and where to find local produce/agriculture for our future renters!
Regarding activities - Stowe can be a long drive if you're hoping not to venture far from the Islands. There are many activities within a shorter driving distance. This season, I'll also be sure to provide specific information about activities, etc available within the greater Islands area.
Thanks again for choosing our place and for reviewing your stay!
Best regards, Autumn
