Quiet secluded but still close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

Older 80's style lodge home in the mountains. Very clean with everything you need for a peaceful quiet relaxing stay. Still close to several towns with shopping, restaraunts, antiques and flea markets. Many parks and areas just to enjoy the outside. All questions were addressed and everyone was very helpful and booking was easy.

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

I've learned one thing, you can still get away from it all, which is exactly what we did. The drive into the property is beautiful, the destination, outstanding!!

The lodge had everything we needed and also things we didn't know we needed but did, hummingbirds that you can't stop watching, the groundhog that came out everyday and the turkey coming in to say Good Morning. The Lodge is large but homey with lots of room inside and out. Easy getting in and out through the backdoor(one step). Kitchens are well equipped, antiques add to the over all beauty of this property. Julia was a pleasure to work with and will answer any questions you might have. Thank-you so much for all you do. Our group ranged in age from 3 to 93 with all having a great time. I can not imagine not visiting here again, the only question is when and for how long. God Bless the Smokies and the people that live there.

Wonderful property. Reminded me of a family hunting lodge. Filled with nature.

Julia was fantastic and the property was incredibly well equipped for hosting friends and family. Coffee overlooking the ponds and the tree line are a perfect way to begin your day. If you are lucky you will see deer coming down in the evenings for a swim.

Another Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying here, and I can easily see us returning again in the future. That should say a lot.

My wife and I timed our trip to enjoy the fall colors, which were gorgeous. We spent a lot of time enjoying the adjacent Highlands Pass property, which is one of the things we really enjoy about staying at the lodge. By the way, to be sure, when you rent the lodge, you are renting the whole thing. It’s not like you rent rooms along with other folks. You get the whole place to yourself, and this place is HUGE.

The lodge is spacious inside, with tons of bedrooms and bathrooms (upstairs and down). The upstairs kitchen is awesome.

The grounds include 2 ponds, waterfalls, and walking trails. But the feature we like most is the front porch. It’s so relaxing to sit out there and enjoy the view of the ponds and woods. There are lots of chairs (several different kinds), so it’s easy to find one that you’re comfortable in. There’s a hammock as well. My wife and I literally sat out there for hours just talking, catching up, watching the birds, listening to the wind blowing through the falling leaves, and relaxing. It’s porch therapy. It’s the gold standard of porches—we find ourselves speaking fondly of it every now and again as we reflect on our vacations.

To be sure, this is an older property, but it’s well-maintained and still in very good condition. If you’re expecting a 5-star stay with everything brand new, and not a speck of dust anywhere, then stay in a $1000 a night high-rise hotel in the city. This place is out in the sticks, so you’ll see a spider or wasp every now and again.

The property manager is great, and easy to work with. They are quick to respond if you have any questions before and during your stay. There are plenty of good grocery stores in Franklin, and lots of nice antique shops between Franklin and the lodge. We didn’t have cell phone reception (both our phones use AT&T towers), but there is good solid Internet service. So you may want to get a Skype (or other similar) account set up in advance, and preload it with some minutes if you want to make calls using your smart phone. There is a landline there for incoming calls, emergencies, or to call the property manager (who is local).

Overall, we had another wonderful stay, and are thankful to have a place like this available for such a reasonable rate. We highly recommend it.
