About the host
Hosted by Barbara
I chose this neighborhood after driving all around the Catskill region and even beyond, including places like Cooperstown. While I truly enjoyed Cooperstown, this area felt more like home to me. It’s still conveniently located — about 45 minutes from Cooperstown — and very close to several ski mountains, which was important since my family loves snowboarding and skiing. I even took up skiing myself over the winter. I was also drawn to the farming community here; people genuinely help one another, and there’s a real sense of connection. Delhi and Stamford are both just 14 miles away, providing access to reasonably priced supermarkets and other necessities. Plus, we have great local dining options like The Hidden Inn, just two minutes down the road. This location offers the perfect balance of peaceful country living with easy access to outdoor activities and community events.
Why they chose this property
Hello, my name is Barbara. I am a mother of three adult children and recently transitioned from a career in retail management to become a social worker — a lifelong dream of mine. For as long as I can remember, I wanted a country home for my family. The moment I drove down the driveway and saw the majestic mountain views, I knew we had to make this property our home. Over the years, we have made many improvements, creating a very cozy space, including a finished basement that offers accommodations for additional guests. I have trained for marathons in this area and often participate in local races. The community is lively, with events like the Summer Jam in June, fall festivals, cart racing, rock climbing, hiking trails, and zip-lining. Whether you’re exploring the many outdoor activities or simply relaxing by the beautiful brook on the property, it’s easy to feel at home here. The local community is extremely welcoming, and I truly believe you would have a wonderful experience.
What makes this property unique
What truly sets Roses Brook Home apart from other properties is the feeling you get as soon as you arrive. Driving down the tree-lined driveway, you’re welcomed by beautiful willows, the peaceful sound of the brook trickling nearby, and stunning open views — creating a perfect balance of privacy and connection to the surrounding community. Guests often tell me that the views are unmatched and that the home itself feels incredibly warm, cozy, and full of love. I take pride in keeping the property very well maintained, constantly adding thoughtful touches to the house, from updated decorations to new amenities. In July, we’re adding an outdoor hot tub to make the experience even better. I also provide a full coffee bar, snacks, and bottled water for my guests, and I’m always just a phone call away if anything is needed. If there’s ever an issue, local support is available immediately. The combination of the breathtaking setting, the cozy home environment, and the genuine care I put into everything truly makes this property special. Many guests have even said they never want to leave
