Upon check-in, we discovered that our reservation was not in the system at all. The staff had to contact the host to verify our booking, and their records actually showed a different guest assigned to the property. I had to call the host directly, who then contacted the check-in desk to have our reservation added to the system.The host also mentioned that he was unsure whether the house had been cleaned prior to our arrival and stated that he would address it if necessary. Unfortunately, the property had not been cleaned. I notified him immediately, and he advised that it would be Saturday—or possibly even Sunday—before cleaning could be completed. We attempted to contact the host again but received no response.As a result, we had to purchase cleaning supplies from Walmart and clean the house ourselves on our first night. I contacted VRBO regarding the situation, and they refunded both the cleaning fee and the cost of our first night's stay.Additionally, we had to purchase our own linens and towels. I understand that this information may have been disclosed in the listing, and I may have overlooked it, so I take responsibility for that misunderstanding.The Wi-Fi was also nonfunctional for the first four days of our stay, and overall communication from the host was very poor throughout the rental period.We have been vacationing at Ocean Lakes for many years, and unfortunately, this was the worst rental experience we have encountered. The ice maker did work well.
