Just Perfect!
What an amazing find! The location of this gem was at first confusing--we were dropped off after a quick ride from the airport at a heavy wooden door on a busy street, between a taco stand and a convenience store. But upon entering that door, we found ourselves in a peaceful oasis, right in the middle of the most exciting part of the city. The spacious apartment, a two-bedroom flat, was ideal for our week-long stay, with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and bedding, satellite tv, and wifi (but who needed television and wifi when there is so much do do and see?). And the location could not have been more ideal! We easily walked to astounding historical sites, gourmet restaurants (and street food and pastry shops), incredible shopping (and street vendors), and lively nightlife. For our tours and forays into areas outside the historical district, Uber had no problem finding us, and a car was always within two minutes away, regardless of the time of day. Our hostess was equally ideal: gracious with communicating information and advice, and quick to respond to our many questions.
We are delighted to recommend Casa Donceles as a Mexico City retreat for families, couples, or individual travelers. If we ever return to the area, we will not hesitate to contact Livia with our dates in the hopes that we can return to her peaceful retreat in the heart of the historic district.
