Small and simple house in beautiful village.

Great escape in the Mountains
Montejaque is a perfect escape in the Sierra De Grazlema national park. The cottage sits high up in the town and it's a steep path up but offers stunning views across the mountains.
Grateful for the wood burner as it was very cool at night.
Sweet little place to stay for a getaway from it all stay.
Loved Antonios bar in the main square. Perfect for a rest and beer after rambling about the mountain paths around town.
Ronda is an easy 25 minutes drive too!
Thank you so much for your review......hopefully you will return!
Cute cottage in a quaint village
Cottage has essentials for an extended stay. We arrived to experience a lively annual festival. The village square is a great place to meet visitors and locals.
Be prepared to carry your luggage up some steep paths!
So glad you enjoyed the village
I am sorry you felt that the cottage needed some service. We in fact put in a new kitchen and updated the bathroom very recently. I was not aware that some items were broken and will ensure this is resolved. I hope this did not spoil your stay am glad you liked the village
Lovely cottage in beautiful mountain village
We stayed for a week in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely in a traditional way with lots of rustic charm, and the views from the roof terrace are amazing. The cottage itself is cosy and comfortable, ideal for a couple, with everything we needed for basic cooking - we thought it was really excellent value for money.
The owner was very friendly in all communications and helpful in providing us with lots of local information on tourist attractions, walks, restaurants, etc.
The village itself is lovely with several shops and a beautiful village square with a variety of places to eat and drink.
We did not have a car but found it fairly easy to get around - we took the 9am bus to Ronda a couple of times and got the bus or train back. The area is fantastic for walking - we walked for miles and were able to get back from both Ronda and Jimera de Libar by taking the train to the neighbouring village of Benaojan and walking from there - about 3km but be warned very steep! Montejaque itself and the surrounding area are very hilly so if you love walking its fine but if steep hills are a problem then a car would definitely be necessary.
A note about the village swimming pool - apparently it is only open during school holidays so was closed when we were there - I think it closed sometime around the 2nd week of September, not sure when exactly in the year it re-opens.
Overall the area is amazing with lots to do - we combined our trip with visits to Gibraltar, Cordoba and Granada - all by public transport which is cheap and easy to use. Montejaque is a great place for a relaxing getaway and the cottage is charming and great value for money.
So glad you enjoyed your stay and very envious how energetic you were. But you can also be just as lazy as you like in Montejaque! Thank you for taking the time to post a review.
Fantastic break. Perfect location. Lovely village, friendly atmosphere. Would definately stay again, although a fan would have been helpfull.
Montejaque is one of the beautiful white villages of Andalucia. It is located 15 km from Ronda and lies in the Grazalema Natural Park. The village has a long history reaching back to the time of the conquest by the Moors. It is built on a rocky hillside above a valley of sunflower fields, olive groves and vineyards.
In this traditional Spanish village you will, like us, soon feel part of rural Andalucian life where it is so easy to relax and enjoy a peaceful time away from the pressures of modern life. As you walk to your house you follow steep, winding streets which thread their way between whitewashed cottages, whilst a few steps further on the edge of the village, sheep and goat bells can be heard as the animals meander about the surrounding hillside.
Moreover the 21st century has bought some changes so albeit you can not beat the traditional tapas there are several delightful restaurants, bars, shops even a fishmongers with incredibly cheap fresh fish.
