Lovely apartment and a beautiful part of Capitol Hill Historic District.

  • 5 of 5

It was our first visit to DC and the apartment was in a beautiful and charming neighborhood. It's located in the lower level of the property with three window unit A/C's that helped keep it cool. We were there during a record breaking heatwave. There were five of us there for the week and it was definitely cozy. The bathroom had luxury towels and shower head. We never had an issue with running out of hot water. We stored most of our food items in the bedroom with the bunk beds where our 12 and 15 year old slept. Virtually every space was utilized for storage. The walk to the Metro took about 15-20 minutes. Four Metrocards were conveniently left for our use in the apartment. We took an Uber only twice back to the apartment if we thought we couldn't trek back from the Metro at the end of a long day. We used the washer and dryer a lot but be aware there is no dryer vent, so a water trap must be empitied for each load. The clothes got extremely hot during the dry cycle so be mindful of that. Karen was quick to reply with any questions we had before our trip and we didn't need to speak with her during our trip. We grocery shopped on our way there and that made a huge difference since there weren't a lot of places within walking distance to buy basics like milk. Overall, it was a great place to stay and it was so convenient to have a kitchen and washer/dryer available.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us!! One thing though! As explained in the check in info there are two corner markets very close to the house. One is 3 blocks down the street, the other just across the street from that on one more block. They have everything you might need like milk, beer wine, ice cream , eggs, canned goods etc. sorry you missed those. They are very close and we grab stuff there all their time. Also eastern market is 3 blocks away. Closed on mondays but it has everything you could want! Cheese, veggies, meat, eggs, cheese stall, bakery etc! Also there is an organic super market right across from the metro station four blocks away.

Great for family. Great location

  • 5 of 5

Karen provided great instructions on checkin and information for our stay. Plenty of room for our family of 4. We used the Eastern Market metro and also ubered. Helpful hint if you are renting a car (we rented the day we left D.C. And headed to Virginia), Enterprise waterfront location on 4th street was handy. Another tip is too book tours through your congressman's website. We did this for the Capitol and Archives, and it enabled us to have small tours without long lines.

Wonderful-Great location

  • 5 of 5

My family loved our trip to D.C. and this apartment! Perfect location...we were able to walk or bike to almost all the museums and historic monuments. We probably could have biked to more but became lazy. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen-I was able to make Easter dinner for my brother and his girlfriend. Bikes provided were perfect. Beds comfortable. I would stay here next time we come if it's available. Also walking distance to everything you need, including that last minute bottle of wine and bourbon!

Great location, everything you need!

  • 4 of 5

This is a great central location in a great neighborhood. The apartment is very functional with useful things like separate sleeping areas for adults and kids, kitchen, dishwasher, washer/dryer, cable/internet, nightlights even! Be aware there are lots of steps if that is a concern. The hot water runs out quickly but it recycles quickly too. You can see a lot via Metro or feet. You can walk to the Capitol from the apartment in no time. Metro trips can start at the Eastern Market station. Rather than rent a car from the airport, we rented Zipcars (per hour) near the Eastern Market or Uber to speed travel time or to go outside the beltway. Get coffee, pasta and bring home pints of gelato at Radici. 7th hill has yummy thin crust pizza. Bullfrog bagels looked good too. Organic market is near the Metro station. Karen is great. We didn't need to contact her during the trip. Her information and supplies set us up well. It's a great value for all that is packed into the small space. Would come here with our family of 4 (2 school age kids) again. Even after 7 days we could not see it all.

Clean apartment in old established neighborhood. Great spring break stay with husband and two teens.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was just as described. Clean and conveniently located. I was traveling for work, so the walking distance to the capitol building was a plus. My husband and two teens enjoyed the proximity to the Eastern Market, the bikes that came with the apartment and the bike share station across the street. Jimmy T's place three blocks away was a big hit as well. I travel a lot and having a 'home' to come home to at the end of the work day rather than a hotel was a big plus. Communication before our stay was timely and clear -- as such, we didn't need to communicate with the property owner during our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

This is a fantastic location for exploring Washington, D.C. We parked the car in the off-street spot and traveled around on bus and foot for 3 days! The apartment was very clean, comfortable although cozy for our family of 5, and well stocked (although, oddly, did not have toilet paper or even a holder for TP). The master bedroom was very luxurious but the bunk beds were definitely not as comfortable (bed was very squeaky and the lower bunk was a bit claustrophic - we ended up taking the mattress off the lower bunk and putting it in the living room). As a note for future renters - this "sunnny garden apartment" is actually in the basement of the main house. Not a problem but I wasn't expecting that. Overall, I would recommend highly!
