Good Vibrations: Tranquil Escape with Panoramic Views of Cayuga River Basin
Come for the elevated views. Stay for the five king-size bedrooms, hot tub, and four acres of idyllic outdoor space.
Welcome to Good Vibrations, our peaceful jewel on top of the world, with long-range views of the Cayuga Lake basin stretching for miles ahead. From the living area to the landscaped lawn, these sweeping views provide the backdrop for your easy-going Finger Lakes vacation.
On our first visit to the property, we quickly determined each of the five spacious bedrooms could fit its own king-size bed. And that’s exactly what we did. We even went a step further with five brand-new, king-size Sealy Posturepedic Plush Euro Pillowtop mattresses and down/feather pillows for an exceptional night’s sleep for all 10 guests.
Bring a group of five couples and divvy up the king-size bedrooms and three baths. Every option is a winner.
Our year-round, seven-person hot tub presents another excellent vantage point. Early birds can climb into the hot tub for a spectacular sunrise, and night owls can soak under starry skies. Meanwhile, stoke a fire in the fire pit ringed in Adirondack chairs or gather at the picnic table to tuck into burgers from the gas grill. In winter, snow makes the scene even more dramatic, and the hot tub keeps you toasty while you take it in.
The Black Diamond Trail borders Good Vibrations, so bring your bikes and sneakers. This wide, gravel path is over 8 miles long and runs from Taughannock Falls State Park to other state parks in the Ithaca area.
LIVING & DINING
In the main living area, the views greet you through large picture windows. Stretch out on the sectional sofa, or in our favorite vintage chair and ottoman near the wood-burning fireplace. Our furnishings, fabrics and lighting capture the 1970s backstory of the house (built in 1973), but without the 70s kitsch. An adjacent dining area seats 10 before another picture window facing the countryside views.
Our well-equipped kitchen with 5-burner gas cooktop, two separate ovens, dishwasher and fully stocked cabinets can help with everything from casual breakfast buffets to elegant dinners.
Downstairs on the lower level, the game room offers entertainment with a pool table, flat-screen TV, bar area, and a cozy board game booth (we provide the collection of games). A second wood-burning fireplace warms the space, and a door opens to the patio and the four-acre yard with its fire pit, hot tub, picnic table and gas grill.
BEDROOMS & BATHS
Find two of the five king-size bedrooms on the main level, along with the living and dining areas and the kitchen. One bedroom, a master suite, has a picture window with a view and a full attached bath. The other features a bow window and, of course, a king-size bed. One more full bath on this floor indulges with a custom-tiled shower.
Three more bedrooms sleep 6 more guests on the lower level. There's also another full bath on this floor.
OUTDOOR AREA
Have we mentioned the view? Beyond that, our four acres of grassy, landscaped lawn provide plenty of spots for outdoor fun. Take shade under the willow tree. Play a game of bocci while dinner sizzles on the gas grill. Soak in the hot tub. Or share a bottle of wine (or s’mores) and good stories around the fire pit.
WHERE WE ARE
Active vacationers will love the location of Good Vibrations, which borders Ithaca’s Black Diamond Trail. Great for both hiking and biking, this easy-on-the-knees crushed stone path traverses the eight miles from Taughannock Falls State Park to the Cass Park waterfront. Tie your sneakers and hit the trail just beyond the property.
Or take an easy trip to Buttermilk Falls, Robert Treman and Watkins Glen State Park - all within a half-hour’s drive - to get acquainted with the Finger Lakes’ famous waterfalls and scenic gorges.
Wine-lovers likely know we have over 50 wineries surrounding us here. Cayuga Wine Trail, the oldest in America, is just a 5-minute drive away. Seneca Lake and Keuka Wine Trails are also just a short drive from Good Vibrations.
When you’re ready to visit Cayuga Lake in person after taking in the views from the house, it’s about two miles away.
Downtown Trumansburg, an historic village with restaurants, pubs, a bowling alley, farmer’s market, pizzeria, grocery and liquor stores and local shops, is a 5-minute drive from home. Spend an afternoon or evening strolling charming Main Street - don't miss out on farm-to-table fare at Hazelnut Kitchen followed by an espresso at Gimme Coffee.
And just a 10-minute drive away there’s downtown Ithaca, a progressive college town that's home to Cornell University, live music venues, and more restaurants per capita than NYC.
NOTE: Not suitable for weddings, receptions, parties or gatherings which include outside guests. Property is for the use and enjoyment of registered guests only, unless prior approval from owners is given.

Why KC Christopher & Mitch Clarke chose Trumansburg
The location, the house and property itself was ideal for our next vacation rental house. We fell in love at first site, as we walked in the door and look directly out the picture windows to this amazing view. It is captivating! This may well become the house we will retire in many years from now.

Everything we asked for

AMAZING!!
Lovely home and very comfortable beds
Great Place for a Cayuga Wine Weekend
Good
We greatly appreciate that our customers take the time to review our vacation homes. It can offer potential customers insight, it can alert us to something we need to address (you are always welcome to contact us during your stay so we may take action immediately) and sometimes it gives us an opportunity to clarify the details.
In this case, we did remove the window air conditioners the week prior because we had typical fall weather with temperatures that dipped down to 30 degrees at night. The weekend these folks came, we had very warm days, yet the nights were in the 50's. Since Good Vibrations is in a lovely country setting, the nights can be enjoyed with windows open without traffic noise, just clean country air. The house cools down very nicely.
As for the firewood, we do not supply that. There are roadside stands and grocery stores that sell it within blocks of this property. The wood that was on hand had been left by the previous guests. We apologize if this wasn't made clear at check-in, we will do better at that.
Mitch and I are very happy to hear that you found the house very clean, comfortable and spacious. We hope you had a great time!
Warm regards,
KC Christopher
Location
Good Vibrations is 2 minutes from Taughannock Falls State Park, the highest single drop waterfall northeast of the Rocky Mountains. Cayuga lake's public beach and marina are also 2 minutes away and in 5 minutes you can be enjoying the Cayuga Wine Trail. There are hiking trails and waterfalls throughout the Finger Lakes region, don't miss Robert H. Treman State Park (it's like being in a Tolkien novel) and the Watkins Glen State Park hikes. Buttermilk Falls is another of our local favorites, with an easy walk into the bottom of the falls, complete with swimming hole, as well as a challenging hike up the sides of the waterfalls. This upstate region is home to acres of farmland which produce excellent local organic foods that have inspired chefs from around the world to open amazing restaurants specializing in seasonal, local ingredients and pastured-raised livestock. You can also purchase these ingredients yourself at our local Trumansburg and Ithaca Farmer's Markets and prepare your own delights at home in Good Vibrations. Ithaca is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College. You can feel the pulse of energy brought by these establishments and the opportunities that radiate from them. Enjoy sporting events, performances and lectures, visit museums, wildlife sanctuaries and botanical gardens. Tour the beautiful grounds of the campuses and then people-watch while eating at a local pub. You will fall in love with our area.
