Lake Leland offers year-round fishing for rainbow trout, large mouth bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. (State license required. A boat ramp is located at the county park. Due to steepness of our driveway, we don't recommend bringing towed boats down it.) 5 mph speed limit on the lake.

Looking for a great hike with a perfect workout? Mount Walker - only ten minutes away - quite often has winter snow without the hassle of bad driving conditions.

About Miranda Schryver

Hi! My name is Miranda. I have lived in Quilcene almost my whole life and love spending time in our small town. I have always lived in Washington, although I did spend a year and a half in Georgia while my husband served in the military. I was happy to come home and see all our green trees and beautiful mountains.

Why Miranda Schryver chose Quilcene

My husband and I have two boys who keep us busy adventuring and taking advantage of all the amazing outdoor activities our area has to offer. We love camping, hiking, biking, and have recently realized we really dig kayaking!

We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful community and beautiful surroundings to call home.

What makes this house unique

Private and fully-equipped lakefront home in beautiful surroundings, central to Olympic Peninsula adventures. This is the perfect family lake house.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a wonderful time at this home. We brought 3 families and the kids had room to run. It was perfect for our needs. The owners gave us ideas of what to do around the area and it was close enough to Port Townsend, Sequim and Poulsbo that we could do a variety of fun things. Great Stay!!! Thank you!

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Fun, relaxing and comfortable. Every detail arranged to be sure we could enjoy our stay, from stargazing, fun floats and fishing on the lake to creating a beautiful wild berry pie to share (amazingly well-appointed kitchen!). We always have a wonderful time at the Leland Lake House.

Of course we loved it.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin, its accouterments, the experience with Kay and Brad as its managers are all way above the norm. Of course those are but sidecars to the magnificent spot. The grand kids caught fish and swam their heads off. We all enjoyed the boats that come with it. There is a great croquet court and we had fun with that.

The driveway could use some love.

The bottom line is this - Leland Lake House is a place for the very wealthy, except that it is affordable and within the reach of just about anyone who can afford a vacation.

We all had so much fun!

  • 5 of 5

Grandparents, and young family with 2 kids and visiting cousins and aunts during the day all had a great time! The cabin was well equipped for cooking and had kayaks, a canoe, row boat and a hot tub. I hope the kids didn't fish all the sunny's out of the lake. It is close to lots of nature hikes, Pt. Townsend and Hurricane Ridge.

Incredible place for a weekend away from the city

  • 5 of 5

This house has everything you could possibly need for a great stay! From kitchen and grilling appliances to boats / canoes / kayaks for the lake to a hot tub and fire pit for evening fun - it's all there! Kay is incredibly helpful in getting everything planned for your group size / needs. There are more towels than any group could need and pillows and bedding for everyone. The only difficulty is that if you have a smaller or lighter car, the driveway can be a bit of a trick. We found that if you just gun it up you can make it to the top with just enough juice to get you to the flat part of the driveway... none of the subarus / larger crossover SUVs and trucks had any issue!

sadly a very negative experience..

  • 1 of 5

I would not recommend this house if you enjoy hot tubs, have young children or a dog, and/or do not have a four wheel drive vehicle. my kids and I got an infection from the hot tub (hot tub folliculitis). fortunately, I'm an ARNP/PCP so could diagnose and prescribe medication to treat it (thus avoiding finding an urgent care clinic/emergency room in a small town on a holiday weekend). the spiral staircase is quite dangerous. my daughter fell down it (and fortunately was not hurt, but cracked the iPad she was carrying which will now need to be fixed), and our dog had trouble negotiating it every time he went up and down. lastly, we had to be towed out of the steep, gravel driveway by a neighbor (who was lovely! thank you jeff!) on our way out. this was all made worse by the utter lack of compassion or apology from the manager, when I informed her about our infection from the hot tub. it's really a shame, as the setting is lovely, and we met the man who built the house, and he was very kind.

Owner's Response: Dear Eileen, I am sorry that your experience was not to your satisfaction. When my husband (the very kind man) was there on the third day of your visit, he reports that you were having a wonderful time and loved the home and commented it to be a wonderfully thought out place for pets. I wish I'd been given a chance to know of your dissatisfaction earlier. I hope that you will be able to revisit with us in the future.
