About the property

1750-square-foot timber-frame lake house, amazing vacation in any season

This lake-front vacation home offers all you need for a memorable family retreat, from large private dock and canoe (the Buckin' Bronco), to full-lake-view deck, fire-pit, and hot-tub, to fully equipped kitchen, toasty wood stove, 3 cozy queen bedrooms plus 2 twins in loft, and plush terry robes for all. You may never want to leave... but then you'd miss spectacular Olympics hiking and charming Port Townsend. Tough choice! Two hybrid SUP/kayaks included at no charge, June through September.

This 1750-square-foot timber-frame lake house is thoughtfully furnished to provide everything your family might need for an amazing vacation in any season. Awake to sip your coffee on the large deck, overlooking the mist rolling silently across the lake. Spend your day paddling, swimming, fishing, relaxing with a book in the hammock or just enjoying each other's company and the incredible and ever-changing views. Keep an eye out for eagles, osprey, kingfishers, ducks and the red-winged blackbird who thinks he owns the property. If you're lucky, an otter or two might pop up! The fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to feed a crowd, and a charcoal grill is available by the deck to grill your trout or steaks. Finish the day with a hot-tub soak under the stars, and all will sleep soundly in the comfortable beds.

The Leland Lake House is located adjacent to Sunrise Cottage (https://www.vrbo.com/424670), each home being extremely private from the other, with a delightful babbling brook separating them. The house is directly on the lakefront with spectacular views, a large sunny lawn, fire-pit and hot-tub, and swimming, paddling, fishing directly from its private dock. Badminton and volleyball in back.

The property is fully fenced (with Sunrise Cottage) and we welcome your pups with bowls, dog towels and blankets, and even a paw-washer.

Local co-host is standing by to answer any need.

Quilcene, Pearl of the Peninsula, is a tiny town with a big heart and a long history. Lake Leland is a small rural lake, on the edge of the Olympic National Forest, surrounded by trees and quiet homes. 5 mph speed limit on the lake means no noisy water toys, and a peaceful refuge for paddlers, swimmers, and anglers.

Lake Leland offers year-round fishing for rainbow trout, large mouth bass, perch, crappie and bluegill. (State license required. A boat ramp is located at the county park. Due to steepness of our driveway, we don't recommend bringing towed boats down it.)

Steamer clams and oysters are easy to collect near Linger-longer Road in Quilcene (about seven miles from Lake Leland).

Hurricane Ridge is only an hour and a half away. It offers a raven's-eye view of the park, high-elevation hikes, and winter fun from sledding to cross-country skiing to snowshoeing.

Nearby Quilcene Ranger Station provides maps and updates on hiking conditions for some of the most spectacular trails in the world.

About Miranda Schryver

Hi! My name is Miranda. I have lived in Quilcene almost my whole life and love spending time in our small town. I have always lived in Washington, although I did spend a year and a half in Georgia while my husband served in the military. I was happy to come home and see all our green trees and beautiful mountains.

Why Miranda Schryver chose Quilcene

My husband and I have two boys who keep us busy adventuring and taking advantage of all the amazing outdoor activities our area has to offer. We love camping, hiking, biking, and have recently realized we really dig kayaking!

We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful community and beautiful surroundings to call home.

What makes this house unique

Private and fully-equipped lakefront home in beautiful surroundings, central to Olympic Peninsula adventures. This is the perfect family lake house.

Guestbook comments from the manager

"My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Leland Lake house. The house is beautiful inside (consistent with pictures on the airbnb site), well-furnished, including plenty of flatware and dishes for the meals we ate in the house. We enjoyed the view of the lake from the house's large windows, and enjoyed trying out the SUP/kayaks and canoe to explore the quiet lake. The number of beds and rooms slept six of us comfortably. Communication with our host was easy and prompt. Our only regret in booking this house was that we couldn't spend more days there! We would definitely book this location again!"

Beautiful property with lakefront views

  • 5 of 5

This home is situated in a picture perfect setting by a lake. The property is really beautiful and our family loved using the kayaks, canoe and fishing boat on the lake. The waters were calm and it was wonderful to wake up every morning with a view of the lake. It was very peaceful there, and it was a treat to relax on the hammock, cozy up at night with the wood burning stove, or just enjoy gorgeous views from the porch. The home was very nice, the beds very comfortable, and enough space for kids and adults. The owner/manager was very attentive and checked in on us via email a couple different times to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Communication was always prompt and it was obvious they really cared about our time at the house and making it the best possible experience for our family. The house is about an hour drive to Hurricane Ridge and a short drive to the very cute town of Port Townsend. On our last day, we drove about an hour to Bremerton to catch the ferry to Seattle and walk through Pike Market. Would recommend this home to anyone looking for fun, peace, relaxation and beautiful views. Thanks for the accommodations!

Stellar Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

If there was a detail the hosts didn’t think of we probably didn’t need it. Beautifully furnished and meticulously maintained, we could not have had a better family vacation rental.

We wanted some downtime at the lake, and enjoyed kayaking and canoeing with the gear provided. A completely unexpected pleasure was a bald eagle sighting! The first afternoon at the end of the day while relaxing on the back deck a bald eagle flew by not 50 feet away. Breath taking.

We also wanted to do a few day hikes and the location was perfect for this. We greatly appreciated the maps and brochures provided which made it so much easier to plan.

Absolutely loved our stay at Leland Lake House!

This property was all we hoped for and more!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous family vacation with our adult children and extended family. There was something for everyone: canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle board, swimming, hot tubbing, hiking, and more. We relaxed, we played, we lazed in a hammock. The beds were comfortable, the place was clean, I don't know what more a person could ask for. I want to live there!

Everything you could need ; right on the lake

  • 5 of 5

This property is exceptionally well-appointment and super clean. We had everything we need for fun times on the lake (canoe, kayak, paddle board) and many spots for simply watching the lake go by. We were lucky to be there during blueberry season and got to pick fresh berries.

The house itself has a large, well stocked kitchen and the bedrooms were very cozy with comfortable beds. We did a couple nice day hikes using the house as a base.

It is about 30-40 min from the main town (Port Townsend) so stock up on food before you arrive.
